Does it really say Hellion? It would be cooler if it said vhs2 since the gun looks like an 80's futurisitic sci fi gun, although the name hellion gives me judas priest vibes.
yes, HS Produkt unfortunately chose the most retarded importer to do business in the U.S, and their product managers are apparently 12 year olds. >hellcat >hellion >echelon
I honestly wish the owner of springshit armory jumped off a tall building.
The 20" is the way to go. If you already have an AUG, go for it, if you don't have an AUG flip a coin. Get both eventually. I like my Hellion but it does leave a lot to be desired compared to the AUG imo, but if you just want a fun pinker go for it.
Unless you don't like the AUG then get the Hellion - it's your money and both are fine choices. Don't buy the 16" Hellion.
I should say that the Hellion can't maintain zero on lasers if that's your speed, if you don't care or don't have night vision it shouldn't matter. But it matters to me that I can use my overpriced nighttime toys, so admittedly I don't shoot the Hellion as much. It's fun though!
He's lying out of his ass. If you can't hold zero with laser, then the same with your optic - which isn't true. It's a damn picatinny rail. If that doesn't work, we are all fucked.

Top rail flexes quite substantially and will walk if too much shit is loaded on it, with just a red dot it's fine and I haven't had much an issue, when I plop a DBAL D2 and an eotech w/g33 I began noticing it drifting. Running a pressure pad is also ass on the gun. Mlok slots obviously don't hold zero.
There's a lot of slop to the top rail on mine, though it may be defective. Everything is torqued to spec.
It's metal but it interfaces with several plastic parts to mount to the receiver. Personally I've never noticed a shift in zero but I can see how applying too much pressure or a lemon could have that issue
nta, but while it looks like there is a metal piece extending up from the gas block for the plastic body to mount via the sling pin, the rail appears to simply be screwed to the plastic ears above it. If that is the case then heat and loading could absolutely affect the stability of the front of the rail.

I think this is ultimately the cause of the issue of the zero shifting in my case, my guns went from shooting hard, often long strings of fire bordering on magdumping to being left out in the cold. I think mine is also probably a lemon but I've had bad customer service with Springfield I'd be worried about getting it replaced, so I just deal with it as a range toy.
The bolt release NATO stock has existed for years, Steyr just refuses to sell it to the public because they hate money. Unless there's been another announcement, the brNs is still TBA.
Nothing bad per say but the 20" not only balances a bit better (marginally, admittedly) but looks better and has the added bonus of the bayonet lug. The AUG is just a nicer rifle in general, better made, more reliable (0 malfs in 7500 rounds of my A3, 2 malfs in 500 rounds of the Hellion), has better controls, and thr adjustable stock on the Hellion is a gigantic meme because when extended all the way it has a bean pole retard LOP. I'm 6'0 and extending the stock all the way is akin to using a M16A2 and placing the trigger in front of the trigger guard.
Both do some things better than others, I just think the AUG is slightly better as a practical rifle even if it is a bit more "outdated".
Both are not excellent in comparison to AR-15 but the Hellions trigger is better than the AUG when stock. But my AUG has a 20/20 sear, Arid trigger, and trigger tamer. That makes it way nicer than the Hellion but only after those modifications. I would worry about drop safety if that's a concern of yours but that's only if you do the same modifications as mine. I found that using PTFE on a lot of contact points makes the trigger smoother and crisp.
Also I have a NATO variant and if you want a better trigger feel I'd go with the Standard version due to the fact it has two trigger bars instead of one. Also the NATO version has some rare issues of the stock cracking at the take down pin and other screw points. This is an issue that can occur in stocks that were produced during the pandemic. Unfortunately I was one of the few that also had a crack to form but Steyr has replaced the stock for free, It was even a second hand purchase.

interesting, ill take a look at the aug then
thanks
if you can only have one rifle and you're a broke fucking loser, then sure, the ar15 is a more cost conscious choice. then you can defend your section 8 housing with a fridge full of groceries you wouldn't have without EBT
Fuck the hellion, the ergos are trash and the only redeeming thing about it is its objectively the easiest bullpup to suppress and its handguard is longer.
Its manual of arms is clunky, if you want a bullpup the Aug or Tavor is way better + doesn't have a hilariously far LOP. The collapsible stock isn't to make the gun more compact. Its to make it even longer kek. If you like the design, by all means but I've fingerfucked one and shot one and I don't like it compared to my tavor or buddies Aug
>any objection
The fuck is wrong with you? No, go buy it if you want it. Are you asking what is bad about it?
1. Trigger is bad.
2. Rifle is heavy.
These are 2 general themes with bullpups but the Hellion exemplifies them to a greater magnitude.
The trigger is actually alright once you know the wall. I've shot my friends and after finding out the first 2 walls are fake and to push through to the actual wall I enjoyed it
Charging lever is annoying. Weight is alright. Sights are pretty good. Magwell needs flaring. Trigger isn't the worst UT won't win a prize. Disassembly is neat. Safety takes some getting used to. LOP is not for manlets.
t. 16" owner wishing they'd sell aftermarket barrells.
1:9 doesn't stabilize 75/77gr match bullets as reliably as 1:8 or faster. 1:8 is generally understood to be the best twist rate for 5.56 unless you're shooting <55gr varmint bullets or exceedingly long tracers or 90gr single-feed National Match bullshit loads.
AUG
it says hellion on it

It's like when people keep calling the car MX5 when it only says Miata on it. Then Mazda just went to calling it MX5 Miata in the US.
Better than the AUG
Only for menlet
Is that a FAMAS?
Godspeed anon

Elaborate

Is the top rail made of polymer? Unless so I am pressing x to doubt.

The rail is mounted to the gas block
very tempted to go AUG. if steyr gave us something remotely close to the AUG A3 Swat, I'd probably jizz myself and never think about the hellion
The next thing in line I think is bringing their 300BLK to release since they are finally bringing that to the US.
and they are finally fixing the NATO stock at the same time. I'm picking one up as soon they come out.
The bolt release NATO stock has existed for years, Steyr just refuses to sell it to the public because they hate money. Unless there's been another announcement, the brNs is still TBA.
What exactly is bad about the 16" hellion? What do you prefer on the AUG?

hows the trigger?

also just got news that a company called "shooting sight" is working on a trigger for the Hellion.
Expensive as mil-spec AR-15 but it is more shit.
Why would anyone buy this crap ?
Who sells them? I haven’t seen them anywhere
For fun, to have something that isn’t an AR, it looks cool
if you can only have one rifle and you're a broke fucking loser, then sure, the ar15 is a more cost conscious choice. then you can defend your section 8 housing with a fridge full of groceries you wouldn't have without EBT

There is a Cali 20" Aug that could be de-gimped
Man there is a guy local to me selling an Aug with the 24" HBAR, but its a fucking NATO stock.

Are they ok?
>has to push trigger through first 2 walls
>it's fine, everything is fine
Okay, I'm guessing you don't have a lot of experience with decent triggers.
I've shot plenty of good triggers anon
if you seriously care about triggers that much, then maybe you're just a shit shooter

AUGs are the gayest bullpup in existence, second only to the RFB.
>t. bullpup enjoyer.
>1:9 twist
>worst mounting options for WML usage
>choose between STANAG compliant or ergos
agreed
how is 1:9 bad when most of the ammo you'll be using is 55gr?
with 20" or 24" you're better off using 77 grain
1:9 doesn't stabilize 75/77gr match bullets as reliably as 1:8 or faster. 1:8 is generally understood to be the best twist rate for 5.56 unless you're shooting <55gr varmint bullets or exceedingly long tracers or 90gr single-feed National Match bullshit loads.
who tf cares about match bullets? you don't have any and you cant afford them.
mk 262 is the good shit
As a thought exercise, think about where you'd put a light and laser on a VHS.
Also look at the grip. There's no knuckle guard, so if you try to stabilise it on a rock, you'll hurt your hand.
>think about where you'd put a light and laser on a VHS.
on the side. what, are we not allowed to do that anymore? did you even think about it or are you just parroting Hop?
>As a thought exercise, think about where you'd put a light and laser on a VHS.
On the handguard and top rail, respectively. What a stupid question.
Neva been dun befoe
How are you going to activate the momentary on switch of the laser?
Move my hand, though normally I just put it on constant on
>he can't thumb-over-bore a Hellion+ATPIAL
handlet detected
So stupid
the elites don't want you to know this, but you can just put a picatinny adapter on mlok for a light and pressure pad.
Lol just look at it, it's hideous. With that lop, and where do you mount a flashlight?
Mounting optics is akin to putting your dot on the gas tube of an ak, set expectations appropriately.
