Post what cartridges you want to see the 6.8x51 hybrid case technology applied to. Post what categories of firearms you think could benefit most from the associated increase in energy density. Post about new cartridges that you would make that now make sense given higher energy density (I.e. smaller case 5.56, etc)
I’ll start
5.7x28 hybrid slightly lengthened and necked to .204 with 40gr low form factor FABRL-type bullet as ultralight LMG cartridge
.308 nato but at 3600fps +
They did that. Virtually 0 chance it will ever be released though since it would blow up all extant 308 guns.
Gaychan doenst support the file type of the pic I’m trying to link. If you google 6.8x51 hybrid there is a picture of hybrid 6.8, hybrid 6.5CM, and hybrid 7.62x51
Thats .300 win mag son, and its availible in AR platforms
Adding some more
5.45 case at 5.56 case length, minimal taper, necked to .224 with low form factor ~70-80gr bullet. ~2.5” OAL. (This exceeds the external ballistics and energy requirement of 6mm optimum. Infact is equal or slightly superior to 6.8x51 in trajectory and penetration)
6x35 TSWG/KAC, but in an MP7.
300 blackout. Keep the 30 round mags and AR15 package, just turn up the volume.
>308 velocity, 308 projectile, 10" AR15 carbine
I like the way you think anon.
Yeah, I like this. Spec is already going to fling 120gr .300blk about 2,400 fps from a 16". If you could get that safely up to 2,700 fps that would be GOAT.
How much more can you get out of the hybrid case?
Pistol cartridges, so Glocks can finally live up to the Glocknade name with every shot.
Lets you load 9mm Major pressure loads no sweat. Still need to make sure your barrel offers full chamber support. Primer flow with pistol primers may be a problem at high pressures, and may require the use of small rifle primers to reduce the chances of primer blowout.
you can get 90gr sig v-crowns up to 2200fps mv from an MP5 length barrel using Shellshock NAS3 hybrid cases and Accurate #7 powder.
it won’t. plenty of stuff out there overbuilt enough to handle the extra bolt thrust without damage. the real benefit is you can use a more compact and faster burning powder to get the velocity out of a shorter barrel (basically what the M5 does) and get 20” 300WSM performance from a 16.5” .308 barrel.
fire forming 6.8x51 to 7.62x51 is not hard, and I’ve already tried it with my DT SRS A2 covert bolt action, no signs of damage or premature wear (mind you the gun is designed to handle a 338LM loaded with the wrong powder without grenading)
Still haven’t settled on a powder I like best, but 185gr VLD hybrid ogive bullets clocking 3400FPS out of a 16.5” barrel is a good time.
>still no polymer
5.7x28, i want to see the p90 spitting 35g tungsten tipped 5.7 at 3600fps
None, because it's a moronic idea.
I want a hybrid 10 mm.
>Post what cartridges you want to see the 6.8x51 hybrid case technology applied to
none at all cartridge is fine as it is
