Hull of the aircraft carrier Sao Paulo may be abandoned off the coast of Brazil

>The hull of the aircraft carrier NAe São Paulo was purchased in March 2021 by a Turkish ship recycling shipyard. In August last year, the decommissioned ship left Rio de Janeiro, where it was located in a Navy shipyard, heading for Turkey.

>However, due to the lack of documents on the amount of asbestos in the hull of the boat, Turkey’s environment ministry barred the former vessel from entering its territorial waters.

Isn't this the dumbest shit ever?
Just sell to india, they will recycle even the asbestos to build some toilets there.

    It's still a vessel though?

legally probably not, since it's been marked for scrap and the BR's only want to scrap it rather than sell it for re-use, also if it's not certified as safe for passengers

Scuttle it and turn it into a diving reef. Asbestos don't have no fricks to give and it will be harmless on the bottom of the ocean while it (eventually) degrades and is dissolved.

    > t. there are thousands of asbestos-laden ships on the bottom of the ocean, don't try to pretend this will somehow represent a toxic danger that doesn't already exist ... and, asbestos soaking in sea water is one of the best possible ways to return it to nature

Obligatory: Frick turkroaches. You fricking bought it, it's your problem and expense to solve. Stop being fricking Black folk and making your problems someone else's. Nobody believes for one fricking minute that any turkroach on the planet gives one flying frick about "the environment." You c**ts have already demonstrated that beyond all debate and doubt.

This is what schizophrenia looks like, everybody.
Obsession, paranoia and severe mental illness all rolled into one.

Or try to donate it to Sri Lanka who can take it for the scrap value.

asbestos is only a danger as airborne particles
keeping it wet obviously prevents this

Turkey has one of the fastest growing green energy industries in the world and has regreened regions in the south-east that were literally fricking deserts only 40-50 years ago.

I dare say they give more of a frick than you, gayreek.

    They can't. Too much asbestos.

Plus the fact that no country will allow to port on their shores and both Turkish and Brazilian environmentalists won't allow it either.

So it will just be sank in the middle of the Atlantic.

Shipbreaking is very often not profitable, western shipowners typically just have their ships beached in africa or SEA where dirt poor locals take them apart with hand tools and get paid by the pound.

Just give it back to us (France), we'll refurbish it and use it to patrol the waters of mainland France, while the CDG and the PANG will be busy across the oceans
We'll stuff it with Rafale and Hawkeye

The CdG has better availability than a US CVN anon. And thankfully, because it has to fulfill the duties of 2 carriers as much as it can.
Perhaps update your knowledge on it with stuff that isn't 20 years out of date.

I don't know if you're trolling or not, but stating it has to do the duties of two carriers does not mean it has greater availability.

I don't know if you're moronic or not, but 70% availability is indeed greater than 50%.

Just hand it over to drug cartels, they will make it disappear in a favela and no one will notice anything about asbestos. Shit, they might even sell asbestos as new kind of drug.

Here in brazil a lot of the houses use roof tiles made of asbestos, a lot of the water tanks are made of asbestos. Asbestos is nothing new.

Can't they just leave it to international waters, then send a savage team, remove all the asbestos and throw it on the ocean?
