How would you weaponize these artillery shells without using the standardized artillery launcher?

How would you weaponize these artillery shells without using the standardized artillery launcher?

They are full of TNT, and can be dismantled if needed, to collect the TNT, components, and metal. Much heavier than the grenades being dropped from quadrotors.

Dig a hole, bury, and rig a wire to them. Wait for something to drive over.

I think it would be even more effective if you could hook it up to a heavy duty quadrotor. Those grenade drones are basically artillery, this would just be a heavier version. Would be a practical weapon for a conventional fighting force if engineered well enough. Just a bigger version of the drones being used now.

Each of these shells cost like, 2000 USD if not more. I have to check my DoD spending sheet again. 120mm tank shells cost USD1100-1500
Standard 500/1000/2000 lb aerial bombs are unironically cheaper.

The GWOT recipe is taking the fuze out and chaining 4-6 together along a road like claymores.

The Vietnam recipe was to strip it for metal and to reload mines/grenades/traps/ammo. Would often rig traps in the areas they fled. You drop or launch a lot of these, some of them are gonna be duds. Same scenario if Russians were dropping bombs on you, like in Afghanistan.

      This
Daisy chain along a route and command detonate using either a quad copter for observation or a civilian. 6 155mm on a route detonating under a convoy is devastating and will derail said convoy by at least 8 hours if not stop it entirely.

Aren't they cast? Have fun melting the TNT out of them, chief.

I don't know how they did it, but they did, could have been black powder duds as well. The napalm was the real motherfricker, and that's just styrofoam and gasoline. Was brutal.

Righ the fuse to a mine detonator, put the shell towards the enemy direction of attack, out the mine 2-3 meters further away from directionof attack.

A mine clearer will go over the shell, then detonate it when it hits the mine.

At Pearl Harbor, yamato/musashi 18" shells did as much damage as aerial torpedoes.

Of course they weren't fired from the battleships. The japs attached fins to them and dropped em from dive bombers.

    To tremendous effect.
