How useful would a recce style rifle be in Texas?

How useful would a recce style rifle be in Texas? Would it just make more sense to go for a regular M4 style build with a red dot instead of going for a more accurate system with an LPVO

First of all - you talk like a gay and your shit's all moronic, just drop the marketing terms. Second of all - ask yourself what you want this rifle for: Do you want it for hog hunting, deer hunting, home defense, competition shooting or just as a gun that's fun to shoot? Do you already have other firearms that fill other roles? If this is going to be your only rifle for a while I would suggest a scope since magnification comes in handy very often, especially when you're not just shooting at the range. The accuracy of a decent modern AR is mainly dependent on one factor: YOU. If you can't shoot good groups with an Aero M4 clone you won't shoot better groups with an SR-15.

Whether fixed or adjustable, a magnified optic will help hit things easier at range. The huge downside for me is the chunky unwieldyness that comes with lpvo slows things down so I don't want to use them anymore.

Why are modern ARs so fricking hideous? Your pic looks like some sort of Halo gun. Why are there so many vents? Why is it green? Why is the magazine the color of dog food? Why does the optic look like the fricking hubble space telescope?

Just buy something like picrel and move on with your life.

      >Why are modern "assault" rifles so fricking hideous? Your pic looks like some sort of Goldeneye gun. Why is there so much textured plastic and aluminum? Why is it black? Why is the magazine longer than the pistol grip? Why does it have an optic? Why is it semisutomatic?

First of all, RECCE is a mission, not a type of rifle. "RECCE" just stands for "reconnaissance". If you're in a urban environment you might want a short gun that can fit inside a pack, but if you're in open fields and mountains you might want something with a magnified optic. The magnified optic helps with both fighting at range as well as identifying things at range. The optic isn't really going to help you shoot better, but it will help you see better. Use your brain to decide what sort of things you want your rifle to be able to do.

      >The optic isn't really going to help you shoot better

yes it will lol. lining up a target with a dot or a line is ALWAYS going to be easier than lining up a front and rear sight and placing them over a target. stop trying to sound wise.

whats the range and battery time on your quadcopter? how are you going to recharge them in the field?

I have spare batteries, a roll-up solar panel and a car plug for camping. But it doesn't take more than half a battery to do a patrol. While you're snooping and pooping at .25km/hr speeds, I've already patrolled, spotted you, reported in, eaten cheetos, brewed tea, and recharged the prior battery.
