How to weaponize body to sleep anywhere?

Sup fellas, I can't sleep and it made me think about how there's frickers who slept in whole ass war zones.

How do soldiers do it? Do you even get real "sleep" or is it just breaks between movement.
Is there some secret voodoo juju troops use to fall asleep anywhere? How does a soldier not break or die from shitty environments when resting? All era of sleepy soldier welcomed.

It’s really easy, anyone can do it:
    1) Don’t sleep for 24ish hours
    2) During those 24 hours, walk around with 90+ lb on your back
    3) Allow yourself to sleep for no more than 4 hours
    4) Have a friend wake you up spontaneously with random loud noises at least twice during those 4 hours
    5) Repeat this process every day for as long as you want to be able to fall asleep instantly

It isn't dissimilar to weight loss. Energy output must exceed energy input.

I don’t know how tf people do this without dying. Two nights of shitty sleep and I start disassociating, getting heart palpitations, getting sick. I may be b***h made but it’s not a question of willpower - my body just crumbles with inadequate rest. It’s crazy to me that anyone can do what you’re describing and not have a seizure or their heart explode.

Its definitely not sustainable over long periods of time, but it's incredible how well the body can adapt to low levels of sleep.

It is as simple as being totally exhausted all of the time.

      >It is as simple as being totally exhausted all of the time.
It's not as simple as that because the soldiers I know can all sleep in an instant regardless of where they are and what they were doing.
It's a trained mechanism. Exhaustion is just how you train it.

Yes, probably but if you're getting interrupted then it's not high quality sleep, just better than nothing.

      >Is there some secret voodoo juju troops use to fall asleep anywhere?
Kind of and I've no idea what it is but I can tell you how to learn it because I did, for a while.

I went to sailing school, sleeping on a boat is really hard. A cruise ship is probably fine but a yacht is noisy as hell, often hot and the rocking takes getting used to. If you leave a window ajar then you have additional noise and maybe mosquitoes. In the middle of the night, the hull is creaking, ropes are slapping against the mast in the wind, even life-preservers might be slapping the rails on the deck if the seas aren't calm. And that's to say nothing of waves tossing you around in bed, in some cabins in some boats, you might be getting air-time between waves.

So you don't sleep the first night and not well the second but eventually, you're exhausted enough to sleep at night or whenever you find the time. Do this long enough, it sticks with you. I can't say what exactly sticks with you but it improved my insomnia for a long time, it only gradually came back with urban living, late-night gaming, too much caffeine and shit like that.

They work for a living. You can't sleep because you sit on your ass all day jerking off to bronie porn. Your body has energy to spare

Isn't there some trick where a soldier tells himself "don't think" and it helps him knock out to sleep??

        No.
That's one part of a much more involved routine.

I was reading a ww2 book. It was talking about some major during the battle of the bulge he would only get a few hours of sleep
a night and would routinely go a few days without getting any sleep. Only kept alive by coffee and cigarettes

Read about some techniques for sleeping just for 30mins every 6 hours. Used by fisherman in remote Alaskan regions where you have only few months of a gap for work to earn for entire year. But it requires very strict sleep schedule and no deviation from it. Basically you skip all the sleeping stages and fall asleep directly into rem sleep phase that your mind uses to actually rest. I tried it for a few weeks myself, but wasnt able to keep up with the sleep schedule.

God I wish I could reliably reach REM sleep. The best I get is a 20 minute nap, or 4-12 hours of laying like a rock from exhaustion.

Be homeless. I remember listening to lots of stories of my mother being homeless. A lot of bad things happen to anybody if you are homeless. Especially so if you happen to be a naive woman like my mother. The homeless basically live in war time conditions. And I always have considered soldiering to be a class of violent hobos while deployed. It is a dirty job.

This is how I feel about hiking too. Few days of being homeless. Ofc I dont get abused very much while doing it.

Physical activities all day, fresh air, being outdoors and cooking your own food will make you tired as frick and sleep like baby.

Around the world solo yachtsmen and Marines use the Overman Sleep Schedule. You sleep for about four hours a night, and two 20 minute power naps.

      Anonymous

That doesn't work. You need 6 hours a night, minimum. 8 hours for maximum benefits. Any more and you're inducing health risks from over sleeping.
