Just lift weights and then you don't have to be an ultra-light autist. I like bringing cast iron cookware and actual meals instead of the dehydrated shit, although I'm not a fan of just walking through the mountains with no actual goal in the first place. It's way more fun for me to set a destination at a lake with fish or a deep hunting camp.
Or you can lift weights, do cardio, and still be an ultralighter and go even farther / be minimally tired when you reach your destination and/or reach your destination faster and more efficient thus more time for other activities, like fishing.
I'm not like an ultra-light purist or anything but cast-iron cookware is really just pushing it too far.
You could go so much lighter, get similar cooking performance and still be able to cook over a fire with stainless or carbon steel cookware.
Why would you do this other than "traditionalist" LARPing? Using weight on bushcraft tools, rugged gear, survival shit, fun stuff, that's one thing, but bringing a 6lb skillet or whatever because it's trad or whatever is ridiculous
>cast-iron cookware is really just pushing it too far
Carrying cast iron cookware on your back is fricking stupid. >BUT MUH COWBOIS
Their cooking gear was carried by the chuck wagon.
Probably around 15-16. When you are able to go backpacking pretty consistently and figure out what you need the ultralight lifestyle is pretty relaxing.
Around the same time everyone else discovered it, or it became mainstream.
It's come so far now all that's needed is literally a sports watch with gps or a phone for navigation and snacks/water in pocket for a day hike.
Heck even my shoes just weigh 220grams each, my jacket packs into my pocket sitting at 150grams and keeps me warm even in 0c and they're not even sold as ultra anything, it's just considered normal now.
I can't imagine using antiques anymore, this is a great development.
>long distance
for me that's half of it but i also fastpack. when i had a normie job it let me go to places it normally takes 2-3 days to get to on my days off. now its just nice to be able to pack minimal gear and burn through the hiking section as fast as possible, on the sort of hikes that are more about the destination than the journey. i'm sure you can think of the type. packing light gear lets me pace fast, and pacing 1-2 days faster than most people lets me bring less supplies. it just makes sense the way i hike a lot of the time.
Ultralight is kinda cringe. Of all things to speed run, why the hell would you want to speed run a thru hike? I'd rather have a 12-14lb "light" baseweight and take my time, doing 18-4 miles a day. Doing 30+ miles a day is moronic. Why are you rushing? Cant wait to get back to your boring slave life?
Dude looks anorexic
well you sound fat
I'm by no means fat
Lose weight, tubby.
I'm at a good weight I used to Auschwitz mode like the dude in your pic
Post twiggy arms so we can laugh at you
Do you HAVE to be malnourished in order to hike ultralight??

Because you're a larper who never goes PrepHoleside?

Second/third trip. Now just take a bivi and rifle, sleeping bag aswell in winter. Cover up to 45mi/day.
Pack weight = 3kg
How much does your rifle weigh? Or is that worn weight?
I want to ultra light hike. How do I sleep at night? Just in a ditch or something? It's pretty cold
I'm the opposite
>lavvu
>wood stove
>real (not dehydrated food)
But it's the canoe carrying the weight so I don't care

I was 13, my uncle had just fricked me in the ass and I realized I liked it.
