The point of a gun is to give violent power to the weak and upset the strength monopoly.
But realistically, those that train with the gun > any other type of physical training.

You have to get a gun from point 'a' to point 'b'
When you are using the gun you may discover where you are standing is sub optimal
Armor is heavy. Water is heavy. Ammo is heavy.

lmao how many civilians are getting into gun fights with body armor on, a full load of ammo, and camelbacks/canteens?

All of them unless they want to die, dehydrate, or assume the fight is going to conveniently be 50 yards outside their bedroom window.

That's literally what you have to do to put any stock in your schizoid beliefs, in the real world if a civilian gets into a gunfight they won't be carrying this shit around or even have the time to put it on.

But gun owners largely draw in self-defence during unexpected attacks. Someone who's geared up that well is far likelier to be attacking than defending.

Depends how close range and how fast it is. It can matter a lot running between cover, keeping your gun leveled for an extended period of time, carrying your gun or other gear, etc. If you're shooting someone directly in front of you, it probably doesn't matter at all, although muscle is marginally denser than fat, so it might help somewhat if you get shot.

FTFY, being fat just means morons using overpriced "defense" ammo will just underpenetrate. Unless you're facing a real man that carries FMJs or AP

Anon fat people can barely keep alive without being shot. How do you expect someone to survive a gun wound if their body can't run for a mile?

          Anonymous

Simple, any damage done to their body won't affect their vital organs. All the damage to their vitals is from bad dietary habits. It'd be like shooting at a beached whale's heart, any damage you could inflict would never wound anything important and wouldn't affect its rate of death

            Anonymous

Not really, it takes feet of fat to even slow down bullets, and then if you survive it makes operating on absolute hell because of the fat.

Hollow points underpenetrating is a meme. Any decent defensive load will not care about an extra 2" of body fat.

Fat makes you slow and fricks up your hormonal balance which makes you a b***h. You can also train adrenaline control with competitive sports.

Being in shape confers some basic advantages, but they aren't going to be decisive. Having strong and flexible hands makes it easier to shoot any gun, having heavier muscle mass makes recoil less severe, having good balance and coordination can actually be quite beneficial, but in the end if the other person is better at shooting a gun than you are it isn't going to matter much if you can lift more than them.
The benefits of PT will become more apparent the longer the gunfight has to go on though, and if the fight is more of a battle than an isolated fight the physical endurance, toughness, and capabilities of the troops can start to play a bigger role than their basic infantry weapons.
The longer and bigger the fight the less important individual weapons become, the more important physical hardiness, coordination, and logistics become.

Here's the hot take, OP: being fit has heavy diminishing returns in a short timed firefight. If you have basic physical condition and are paired against a top physical shape soldier, all other things equal, its only a sliver of an advantage for him. Now if you are slightly out of shape and the same soldier has average grunt shape, you are starting to get a disadvantage when it comes to mobility and cover.

If you are out of shape, you will become a liability in a firefight. Not only you will not be able to manuever through cover, but if you are shot, burnt fat can infect easier than muscle. Third-world police officers die when they are obese because lack of hospital conditions make infections easier to happen.

So it is incredibly important to have a basic level of fitness, yes. It becomes less and less as you develop a certain level of fitness that takes much more time and commitment to be slightly more fit when such resources could be allocated in tactics study, terrain recon, shooting skills, gear conditioning, survival strategies, group training, comms and logistics planning....

This. Shooting isn't everything to fighting, and fitness isn't everything to warfare. Your setting in itself will heavily affect your odds too; if you are already in a strong defensive position (i.e. home turf) when fighting starts, that is a major advantage as well.

Depends on your definition of a gun fight

You are the platform, the carrier for the gun.

You need to be able to run around a block and climb a fence without becoming a wheezing mess and have steady hands to shoot.

  21. 2 years ago
    Anonymous

Somewhat. You need to not stay still. That get's harder and harder. People like to be safe. But safety involves being quick and clever. Naturally being strong enough to throw a man over your head is a plus.

Not as much as muscle memory and not losing your head does.
    >inb4 t. landwhale
Your average shooting means you gotta draw your gun, aim and shoot until the threat is no more. You don't need to run around, you don't need to jump behind cover or something.
That's why you need to stay calm, keep a steady aim and not jerk the trigger - things even a fatty can train.
It's obviously a nice perk if your heart ain't covered in so much fat that you get a heart attack as soon as you fired a few rounds,

  24. 2 years ago

Being a fatass impacts every physical thing you do negatively. A gunfight is a notoriously physical thing. Connect le dots

    >Inb4 haha just stand and shoot the guy how hard is a gunfight
See for yourself how that works out fatso

That depends on whether the 'gun-fight' lasts 1 minute or 1 year. The longer you are in danger, the more your fitness gets challenged.
