    I guess it would cause structural damage to the earth, exterminatus style, meaning the planet would not recover.

    Remember:

    1.000 kg = 1 ton
    Kiloton = 1.000 tons
    Megaton = 1.000.000 tons
    Gigaton = 1.000.000.000 tons
    Teraton = 1.000.000.000.000 tons
    Petaton = 1.000.000.000.000.000

    I read somewhere that a supernova is about 1.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 tons of TNT strong, but it’s just guesswork. My gut be much more.

      the smallest supernova we know off had a tnt equivalent of 10 to 51
      the biggest 10 to 582

      pretty sure such numbers are incomprehensable to us

      Supernovas are so massive, the neutrino flux will kill you.

    It would be a local physical event and not global except for the radiation it produced.
    So Gulf to Atlantic in Florida with half of the explosion going into space.

      Weak in terms of anything the planet has seen. For us, largest to memory. The Dino killer was 126 Tera and the smallest of the 3 main impactors since the Hadean Era. Largest volcano, somewhere in NM about 29 million y/a was 230 Gig, Supernova would be 10 to the 450th power iirc.

        Nu-Star Wars is objectively terrible but this scene had me ROCK FRICKING HARD. Rogue One was probably the least bad of them but it's a low bar.

          Rogue One was a terrible movie with terrible pacing and acting, I have no clue why anyone defends it or could’ve liked anything about it except the 5 minutes of space Vietnam beach action that you have to sit through an hour and change of straight dreck to see. Honestly the worst Star Wars movie.

            Anon, people have defended Phantom Menace for over two decades because there's five minutes of Ray Park doing Gymnastics with Rob Roy at the end.

              nu star wars movies are all absolute dog water
              the first one was the least bad but only because its literally a reskinned A New Hope. The other two are unwatchable.

      Could you use it to activate Yellowstone's volcano? That could promote it to a global event.
