Haiti's struggling with organized crime atm aren't they? I don't know if a heavily armed helicopter gunship is the best tool for policing a dirt poor island nation.

This, Haiti has nothing that could stop a Hind so if you wanted to topple the, already de-facto non-existent, government you could probably do it.

Hypothetically, how many Apaches would you need to keep one of them in continuous operation at all times?
You could frick up the gang uprising/revolution with an Apache operating all the time

how many Apaches operating at one time would i need to completely delete the population and hand the land over to the DR?

All year round? 4 at the most. You wouldn't need more than one airborne at a given time since the gangs have no semblance of anti-air assets whatsoever, not even DSHKs.

        Anonymous

only 4? Id figure youd need more for when some of them need maintenance from being used so often.
I wouldnt be worried about losing any to enemy fire, just to overuse and lack of maintenance.

This. Worked their for several years (not a dumb missionary or milgay). All I could think was what a beautiful place it would be without the Haitians. Their was a chalet in the mountains (Furcee, I think) well outside Port Au Prince that still had a faded glimmer of how it was once a nicer place ruled by Europeans. Truly a shithole. About 100 gunships and napalm is what it needs.

Hey, the lady who runs the haitian food truck by my work is chill as frick.

Haiti’s problem is like Russia’s x10: everyone who is capable enough to fix things usually leaves. Those who remain are stuck and don’t know how to change the situation. Ironically the gang thing might be good, because it’s forcing people to form militias and stand up for themselves.

They probably made money, also destabilization in the region prevents other outside forces from gaining a foothold in the Caribbean. Already have to deal with the annoyance that Cuba gives us, might as well make sure it's untenable for a China belt and road style deal.

/k/ could invade one of the small islands off the coast of Haiti and form a new nation there

      Anonymous

One of their islands is a guano island with just enough land to have a fresh water pool underground, a tiny bit of vegetation and a handful of old post colonial fortifications. Technically disputed territory since the US seized it under the Guano Island act but then abandoned it, Haiti reclaimed it but we never acknowledged it since we couldn't bother. It is used by a handful of fishermen since i think it has a few goats and pigs running feral. It has a tiny harbor.

Microstate with Goats, piracy and nitrate exports ahoy!

Haiti would probably let you run it if you supplied a few barges of fertilizer a year, had a rescue boat and ran a radio station to help police the waters for illegal fishermen/drug runners (or ignored them as the case may be) as long as you made the motions of having a mayor and a few dozen people for local government.

Why not just take over La Gonave and become king. The natives loved it when a guy did that once, and it led to the island's most peaceful period.

Colombian mercenaries will fix it. They are former special forces trained by American special forces in America. They "aren't" in the military or working with America. They are top tier in the world. Nato trained and armed with years of experience. Look up how their old president died. Colombians will act where they want when they want because they are basically in NATO and the military thinks the Colombians can run most of south America. I was in Colombia for a while. They make the Mexican cartel look like amateurs and they are the good guys.

      >they are basically in NATO
WERE in NATO. Then they made a mistake of electing a literal Communist terrorist for president, who also happens to be a puppet of the Venezuelan dictatorship, so you can bet that "NATO partnership" ain't going anywhere. Their special operators are really fricking experienced, that's definitely something we gotta acknowledge.

If you get pro intel you can struck a gang leaders meeting and create some weeks of chaos but there will be new leaders fast and you are back to the start.

Best way to solve haiti is to build a wall in their coast so they cant escape to other countries and let them kill each others in a civil war for resources, that land is terrible the cant even sustain themselves by farming its overpopulated and thats why its poor the problem with that island is that there are too many haitians in a tiny space

As much as they try to deny it, Dominicans are black too. That’s not the issue

      Anonymous

There's a lot more Euro blood in Dominicans, to the point the average Dominican is a light-skin black, there are even people there that resemble mestizos in Colombia or other Caribbean islands.

This is because the colonies, namely Spain, only had so much money to throw around in colonial endeavors. France, on the other hand had so much fricking money they imported more Africans to this half of the island than other countries did to their islands, there were about 32,000 whites to 500,000 slaves, eight times that of other Caribbean islands. At the time of the revolution, more than a third of these blacks were direct imports from Africa.

Knowing how incompetent blacks are, they only really succeeded at their revolution because of numbers. That was the peak of their history and it's all downhill from there.

The Saint Domingue colony (now Haiti) had already hellish living conditions during colonization.

    > The death rate of slaves on Saint Domingue's sugar cane plantations was higher than anywhere else in the Western hemisphere; indeed, slaves working on sugar plantations in Saint-Domingue came to have a 6-10% annual mortality rate, causing St. Dominican sugar planters to import new slaves frequently.

    > Over the colony's hundred-year course, about a million slaves succumbed to the conditions of slavery. Some slaves of African ethnicities who believed in metempsychosis, the belief of the soul's migration at death, committed suicide shortly after arriving on the island, as they believed that in death they could return to their home territory where they would regain the rank, wealth, relatives, and friends that they had. Some pregnant slaves living in poor conditions on sugar plantations did not survive long enough or have healthy enough pregnancies to birth live babies, but if they did, the children often died young due to malnourishment. On some sugar plantations, food was insufficient, and slaves were expected to grow and prepare it for themselves on top of their 12-hour workdays.
