Russia had 2 factories that made artillery barrels before the war but no one knows what their state is ir their output numbers. Not many buyers for Russian 152mm systems you can’t reasonably extrapolate a figure. I have no idea how long it takes to bore out a weapon-grade barrel with rifling or what the efficiency (ie QC failures) is. They’ve been wearing the existent barrels out like crazy in 2022 especially, but they’re still using lots of arty — but then I have no idea how much Iranian barrels have went into supplementing their inventory. I know there was propaganda coping last year about Russia running out of guns but that hasn’t happened obviously.

I know that the RoK has been claiming that almost every arms factory the the DPRK is up at full capacity to the point that there are serious traffic jams on the rail lines due to huge amount of material Russia is sending them.

Also apparently there is alot more road traffic and everyone is noticing a significant increase in food availability.

Any major economic upturn in the North bothers them, until the fall of the USSR the North actually outperformed them in many ways. If the Norks had enough inputs to keep their factories and powerplants all running at capacity for a decade or so the South would have a major problem.

The north was only better until the early 70s and after that it was an absolute mogging. The fall of the USSR only showed how reliant on gibs and underdeveloped they actually were

Well the rust is certainly getting knocked off that machinery now and Russia is going to be getting everything running as quickly as possible.

Wonder if anyone is tracking rail shipments from Belorussia to the DPRK, i have a feeling that there is a awful lot of nitrates, fertilizer and potatoes moving at the moment.

have you seen how the russians are sent to battle? how they operate. they probe by sending mobiks to die. russians absolutely give zero shits about losses as they have millions to pull from and force into the lines. dont even have to pay them when they go "missing". ie. they just didnt recover the body. Russias distinct advantage is that it's an authoritarian shithole that barely needs to justify losing half a million troops, as these kinds of losses are nothing new and even expected. Sure, the homeless vets without legs will be an eyesore for the next few decades, but there'll be fresh new recruits ready by then to fight the next pointless war in russias border regions.

              >as they have millions to pull from
Not really. The median age in Russia is about 42, which means a little over half of the population is pensioneers. Thats ~70 million left. Out of those roughly half are women. Taking into account the fertility rate of 1.5, that means out of the 35 mil men, about 8 are bellow the age of 18. Taking the median age again into account, out of the 27mil men you've got left, only about 7-8 million are between the age of 20-30. Those 7-8 mil are your most productive members of your economy - the guys that make kids, buy houses and cars, and start bussinesses, i.e the backbone of a country's economy. A million of them ran away back in 2022. How many of those can you conscript before the economy completely shits itself, whitout taking into account Russia has 4mil worker shortage right now. They'v already ran out of all liquidity in their sovereign wealth fund and have started selling of gold reserves just to fill the budget deficit. Next think to come is rouble devaluation. Nobody will be making kids in this kind of environment. No matter the outcome, this will be Russia's last war.

                Anonymous

Most of Russia's income is from selling oil and other resources. The only other mayor industry is arms production. There will be no worker shortage after this war if soldiers comes back and war related industry is scaled down.

they are suffering from their worker shortage as is
they have taken workers from city heating grids to go fix what they smashed in ukraine and a good chunk of those guys then got voluntold into the storm z.
So now they are short on people that can keep those systems running without springing leaks.
Estimates by russian expats are that there are now about a quarter more failures off those heating grids and they also take longer to fix.
                Why does this matter?
A lot of the commy blocks don't have their own heating relying instead on heat from municipal heating plants or excess heat from factories.
On of those pipes break and you have a local flood and people without heating. A heating plant gets fricked and whole town is now without heating. And then you get the videos of a feet of ice that has formed in a hospital.

Russia can lose a lot of men, but only if it wants it's economy and standard of living to go straight back to the good ol' 90'ies

even here on /k/ many people look on the wrong things and fail understand how important artillery is in this war, as you said Russia already pulled half of it's inherited artillery pieces from storage, we know for sure Russia is using up 5.000 artillery barrels per year and there is no way to produce this many once depots run dry. so Russia is fricked once this happens
