How does a country with hundreds of years of military experience get steamrolled by some people leaking blood and can only infect people within close proximity?

Is it the L85A1's fault?

Zombie and Zombie-like films work under the assumption that everyone is incompetent except the main character(s)

the only zombie movie scenario that would almost work would be some kind of The Last of Us scenario where you have simultaneous outbreaks in every major urban hub on the planet. Overwise as this anon points out

The only "realistic" zombie movie is Shaun of The Dead.

it would be swiftly crushed by automatic rifle fire.

That wouldnt end the world it would save it.

Actually it makes more sense if the outbreak doesn't magically happen everywhere at once, but logically it wouldn't. World War Z (the book) and the first 2 Resident Evil movies are good for this reason.

I'm old enough to remember the days when playstation only worked if you switched to the sauce channel. Definitely older than you.

such a shame to have reached such an age and still have such baby brained takes on zombies.
World War Z fricking sucked, it was moronic on every level, and the Max Broox zombies blow ass. Any military could have kicked the shit out of them. The US soldiers could have won Yonkers with shovels and hoses.

      >Slow zombies
      Very-Easy
      >Fast Zombies
      Easy
      >Infected Rage zombies with limited reasoning
      Medium difficulty

Any real life weapons could completely frick up zombies, having shit like spears, swords, shields would completely demolish them, if you actually went into this shit like some HEMA LARP'er you could kill a shitload of these fricks (obviously riot gear works as well, just need something to bash in heads or slash limbs). Firearms would frick up all zombies.

Either simultaneous outbreak or consecutive ones would make sense, it would strain the entire medical system, people would panic and it would take the military quite some time to contain it.

the point of the movie is the entire world left the UK on their own to get fricked. Couple that with a virus that takes literally 10 seconds to turn you infected and causes you to projectile vomit blood, and it only takes a single drop to infect you (RIP frank), its not the worst take on a zombie film

Believe it or not but it takes alot of willpower to gun down all your former family and friends

Especially in the chaos of the outbreak they probably assumed it was a huge fricking riot not infected rabid dog c**ts

how does a virus that can only spread via biting take over a country in hours? not even the most infectious respiratory viruses move that fast

      it doesn't spread through bites

The UK's population density would make an infection like the one in 28 Days/Weeks Later spread like wildfire.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. That population density is an average that includes a huge amount of land with literally nobody in it. If you look at population concentrations the US is probably worse off because damn near everyone is in a city and flying between them. You'd have to have a near-instant onset and immediate grounding of all flights to take advantage of the empty land.

How would it be most easily stopped? Surrender everything south of the Humber and deploy the entirety of the army to make a single line across the neck of the country?

No, brits are simply born -50% melee defense, hence all the stabbings.

Putting the social commentary of consumerism that zombies embody aside, part of the horror comes from facing something that used to be human, but no longer is, while not being sure of it.
Simply put, you can't gun people down because they are sick and overly aggresive. We don't even do that with junkies, and you could argue they put themselves in that situation and thus deserve it. However, if things escalated so much as to risk a country's collapse, be sure morals would be thrown out in order to guarantee survival. This applies to infected type zombies, a la 28 days later. If we are talking about Romero style, decomposing corpses and the dead rising from their graves, then something similar to the original Night of the Living Dead is what would realistically happen.

The writers should from now on, they're terrible at it and always have been.

do you think military experience gets passed down to children like in some shitty roguelike?
if you never fought anything you aren't going to win any fights no matter how good of a fighter your great grandpap was.

Zomboid had a decent set up, with the virus being a extremely virulent airborne flu that you could get from just being downwind of a horde

If you need a secondary vector that does 99% of the heavy lifting, you might as well not have zombies at all.

Just make better zombies and stop being a slave to Romero.
