I like it when you don't really notice it normally until a loud noise (not loud enough to damage hearing) happens and then it hits you strongly for a few seconds
it's very kino
>How do you cope
It varies. For some people very light white noise helps. Obviously protect your ears very carefully going forward, hearing damage is cumulative. Certain foods/vitamins may make it better or worse. You'll have to experiment. >or cure
There is none yet though research is ongoing and there has been some cool experimental stuff developed in the last 5 years. There might be a genuine cure for at least type 2 by the end of the decade.
If you got it from firearms, be sure to write your representatives describing how bad it is and asking them to support taking suppressors off the NFA.
Hope for A.I. to help medical science enough to find a cure. Hope it doesn't evolve into Meniere's disease (Degenerative ear disease with a combination of three symptoms which are tinnitus, sudden vertigo, and hearing loss).
But as far as I know, if there are some (extremely expensive) surgeries one can have depending on the tinnitus one got. Joe Rogan did one, I'd recommend you search that out. But it is not going to be cheap; the inner ear falls into the realm of neurosurgery and you can imagine how much that costs. If you can get it done in Mexico or other countries with good professionals like Brazil or Argentina, probably you'd get it on the cheaper. Do your research. I had a surgery done in Latam that would have bankrupted me in the States, but the plane ticket ended up costing me more.
The one potential cure is using stem cells to bring back hearing and such.

I asked an AI what the cure was and it said either micro-surgery to remove, replace, or repair broken/bent inner ear hairs. Alternatively it suggested that something like Neuralink would most likely be able to simply block your brain from hearing it.
> said either micro-surgery to remove, replace, or repair broken/bent inner ear hairs.
That sounds insane. Even if that were possible, tinnitus can still occur anywhere from that, to the pathway, and even your brain.
Yeah. The brain.
Go completely deaf and the noise stops.
There was a case of a dead woman who got tinnitus and it was so bad she killed herself. Other people also an hero’d due to such a condition.
It depends on the type of tinnitus you have. There are several kinds. If it's neurological, that might be all you hear after you go deaf.
The trippiest kind is "objective tinnitus", where if someone puts a stethoscope over your ear, they can hear the tinnitus too.
I had musical tinnitus once. Thought someone was playing music in the middle of the night and when I reloaded what it was I freaked out and it eventually faded away. I pray it doesn’t return. Fucking hell it was dreadful.
Im 90% certain I got mine from not covering my ears during those stupid fucking fire drills back in middle school. Honestly, they need to stop that shit or turn off the fucking blaring noise that are insanely fucking loud and damaging to little kids' hearing. The fucking clueless teachers were too fucking stupid to understand the long term impact of of it too.
Well, invade of an emergency it’s best to have such alarms be loud. Although it’s best not give people hearing damage.
Are you telling me we should start reproducing with frogs?
For the kinky guys out there, they have crazy tongue game and their legs do go all the way up.
This is why I will NEVER shoot without hearing protection unless its life or fucking death.
I've found menthol style rubs - icyhot whatever the right term for it is, amazing for the whole gate control theory about pain management. Completely removed the back spasms I had. It makes me think some neuralink that always introduces ambient white noise if the outside db is too low (to cover up the tinnitus) might be the trick.
I always have a fan on in my room even before I started to have mild tinnitus. I think it's unnatural to be sleeping in a room that's utterly silent. Cave-man times and you'd have wind rustling and wild animals beyond the fire, civilized time and you'd have animals and your family members in the room. Every little creak and step and sound outside the room gets magnified in the absence of some white noise.
Are you telling me we should start reproducing with frogs?
Yeah everybody gets a required githyanki girlfriend.
It turns into Meniere's disease and Alzheimer's? I should just kill myself now. Literally what's the point of living just to face a horrible death.
I don't understand why humanity hasn't deemed existence itself a reprehensible insult and found a way to destroy the entire thing out of spite for whatever God damned us to this mortal plain in our limited bodies.
I don't begrudge anyone that wants to log off the server and delete the game.
Sometimes rage quiting is a prick move, but you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. Just don't fuck up the server for the rest of us on your way out.
I have both too, friend. Its a fucking nightmare. Theres basically no hope for my tinnitus, and for some god damn reason theres like 1 TMJ specialist and when I called they wouldn't even talk to me because they have a 6 month wait list and have to do $2000 of scans before they'll even give a proposed fix. Guess I'll just suffer with this shit.
Because our jaws arent supposed to work with modern soft diet. Thats why we have so many dental issues nowadays. The muscle that are supposed to help the growth of our skull are withered because we don't chew nearly enough.
Go to an ear and throat doctor, he'll give you some medicine that'll reduce it a little bit, but what really worked for me is meditation before bed.
Before going to sleep, lay in bed and relax your whole body, then focus on the sound of your tinnitus while relaxing every part of your body, starting from the feet and up to your head, after a while you'll be fully relaxed and fall asleep.
Do this every day and your brain will start to associate the tinnitus sound with relaxation, which, while not making the sound go away, will make it way less disturbing and stressful.
>cope
Stop listening. Done. I gave up years ago, the 3 right keys on a piano are wasted on me. I'd rather shoot that be so fucking gay as to whine and bitch about side effects. When I'm shot, I'll consider complaining about side effects.
theres some brain/concentration drugs that help against light tinnitus
i got those after i had constant ear noise due to scuba diving
you need to eliminate the stressors on your ears, or it will get worse over time. even things like riding a motorbike faster than 70 mph with a full helmet on might cause lasting ear damage
a single gun shot indoors can cause permanent hearing damage instantly
as in actual physical fix theres nothing yet, operating on the ear is still out of reach for us
Well this was a weird experience. I heard/felt what seemed like bells ringing after doing this for the allotted time and when I took my hands off my ears it all seemed better.
[...]
Well this was a weird experience. I heard/felt what seemed like bells ringing after doing this for the allotted time and when I took my hands off my ears it all seemed better.
Doesn't stop mine but it does seem to make it quieter.
Yea mines back again. At least its mild. I've found that when I leave headphones in it gets worse even when I take them out. Wonder if the small soundwaves trigger it or something.
for me it seems like iems make it worse like that but over-ear ones that don't seal don't, so i think it might be related to pressure or something like that
No effect, not even for a few seconds. Fuck. I'm about ready to murder anyone that anyone wants me to murder just to get an hour without having to listen to this shit. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
white noise, the most chill music you enjoy, ambient noises. youtube has ten billion of these things. make a hot beverage and relax while reading. or shitposting if you can't settle down.
try this too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PyGwQfdfmQ
Damn, I was wondering if I have a mild version of it, listening to YouTube presentations and reading comments and then, after trying this, I really could tell a difference. Mine is just so weak, I barely notice it.
I have a mild case due me not wearing earplugs at my job like I should have. After a decade of babying my hearing with earplugs for anything involving a constant droning noise (vacuums, power tools, etc) I've gotten it to the point where it's not noticable most of the time, and even when it is noticable it doesn't really bother me anymore.
This trick has only ever worked for me when I have a sudden bad flare up due to stress, helps me get rid of it in a hurry. I don't cover my ears or do that finger flick method thing, I just tilt my head a bit and smack the soft part of the neck under the skull towards the side that is ringing. The most stubborn instances actually require me to hit hard enough to make the ringing even louder, then it goes away after. Weird stuff.
This worked very well for like 10-15seconds, then returning to normal over the next couple mins, darnit, got my hopes up.
Doesnt seem worth it unless i felt like having a continuous argument with my tinnitus, doing it over and over, but that would obviously be more annoying than the tinnitus itself.
I was ruined before I was even old enough to drive. No one used hearing protection when we shot guns. Dozen people shooting at the gravel pit? Nope not then. 3 solid hours of blasting geese? No sir. Shooting clays all evening until the sun went down? No no no noooo. Wasn't until I was 21 when I was sitting around a camp fire with my girlfriends friends when one of them said "man it's so quite you can hear the stars" and I just sarcastically said "Are they the ones going eeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
You learn to live with it. Only really sucks now when I'm hunting because I'm just sitting there in my own thoughts listening the nature talk. I get by any other time.
When im alone walking in the bush, all i hear is my heart, my breathing, and ofc the EEEEEEEE, i am convinced this will get me eaten by a mountain lion or somthing, one day.
Keep a fan on 24/7, look into if your tinnitus is not hearing loss related, prevent further hearing loss
iirc other conditions can cause it than actual hearing damage look into those too
Mine isn't too bad until it's the quiet of night so I fall asleep listening to audiobooks.
Youtube has several channels that have pretty good readings of public domain sci-fi so there is near limitless free content.
Tinnitus is incurable, but it is possible to cope.
Studies have shown that a level of tinnitus that is to one person unbearable can be almost negligible to another.
The less attention you pay to it the less it bothers you. On the other hand if you focus on it it gets stronger.
Listening to white noise etc may help to remove your focus.
Vitamins/mineral levels returning to normal, hormones load balancing. Possibly blood pressure improving. Drink some water, go walk around the block, get some sunshine. You're going to feel like a super sayan compared to 2 weeks ago.
Everyone told me I'd feel better if I did these things. I walk about 3-5 miles a week around my neighborhood. Drink a gallon or whatever of water every day. Haven't had any alcohol in over a week. Eating healthy, eating vitamins, nofap. Feels like I've been lied to because nothing feels better.
Shooting holes in paper has lost its appeal too and now nobody wants to buy my guns. wtf why is this on /k/?

Let me know if any of their tricks or potions work for other tinnitus sufferers, I've got a couple other friends with tinnitus and vertigo I'm collating data for, comparing treatments.
Just accept it and let it fill your head whenever you notice it's there. Every attempt at avoidance just makes your brain fixate on it and make it worse, because you're hardwiring it as something worth paying attention to.
Electric fan and jazz music

My girlfriend used like a special suction cup around the affected area and it's definitely helped. Maybe it will help you in the interim.
My jaw clicks when I open my mouth. I'm fairly confident some hippy suction cup won't be fixing that.
trips of truth
>jaw clicks when I open my mouth
Same here.
> no fucking idea why
Because our jaws arent supposed to work with modern soft diet. Thats why we have so many dental issues nowadays. The muscle that are supposed to help the growth of our skull are withered because we don't chew nearly enough.
if you have both, the TMJ is quite likely causing your tinnitus.
wish i didn't know this feel, stay strong bro
You get used to Tinnitus. TMJ is pain, which you don't just "get used to".

They will get startled so hard that they'll slap their hands on their ears, blowing out the eardrums.

This applies to those fancy Bose headphones and airpods.

hericium mushroom is worth a try, seems to have reduced mine.
... side effect is remembering your dreams if you take it before going to bed.
I dunno anon I don't trust mushrooms, even portobello mushrooms... where can you even get these from?
It's not a psychedelic, it only has nerve-regenerating properties.
Can be bough in capsules.
I'll look into it thanks

It was revealed me in a dream that there is a cure for tinnitus. But you can find it only the womb of your mom.

Just go deaf.

That might be good. Working on hope projects sometimes I just get exhausted and give up on them halfway through. What do you suggest?
I don't know. Maybe you should invent the perfect handgun.
How old are you? Past a certain age, a man without a family can be a bad thing
Me also. I think without to much fapping the neurotransmitter level will normalize itself.

It probably go through cheekbones anyways.
my tinnitus comes and goes I notice. I don't have it right now, but in 5 minutes I probably will.
As with all the best maladies, the cause is also the cure.

I have mildish tinnitus from years of being an auto mechanic and not wearing hearing protection enough around pneumatic tools. Also from listening to heavy metal at disgusting loud volumes, and going to metal concerts. It sucks, but it doesn't affect me much. I already slept with a fan, so that drowns out the noise. And at other times of the day I am either watching TV, reading, or doing something that occupies the ears and/or mind ... so again, not an issue. The only time it really annoys me is sitting in a quiet room, which when does that ever happen? I mean, meditating would suck, but I don't meditate so who gives a fuck? It has lessened over time, and I noticed it's not as bad when my ears are very clean of ear wax. So keep your ears clean, but don't use q-tips and jam the wax in further, which makes it worse. Just flag your hearing for retesting. Sheesh, it's like you people have no personal medical systems.
