It’s my understanding that they are controlled using radiowaves. Would it for instance be possible to jam the signal by blasting massive amounts of radiowaves against the drones? Maybe have a jammer set up that runs through a massive amount of frequencies to find the right one?
So like a jammer gun that they've had for some time now?
They have it? Then why aren’t the Russians using it in Ukraine? Are they just too poor/stupid? Can’t be too expensive making one.
They can't even figure out how to ship pallets to a warzone.
maby because those jammeres aren't as effective as claimed. it's not a magic wand
>take it down with small arms fire
good luck with that
>Then why aren’t the Russians using it in Ukraine?
They...are. It's well-documented. Look up literally any article or video about it
When used by a first world country the drones will switch to AI control if signal is lost and the mission will be carried out. Similar to what a JASSM has done for over a decade.
These methods are not effective. First world countries will properly militarize small drones to include AI, this will negate jamming and EA. Secondly, first world countries will deploy too many drones at once to saturate any "gun" point and shoot based weapons including lasers.
AI will negate jamming.
Using an EMP does not spare your own equipment, secondly properly militarized drones deployed by first world countries will be hardened against EMP, or resistant to a degree which would make the effectiveness of EMPs impractical.
Losing strategy as there will be too many drones, and they will be approaching from too many different angels and altitudes.
AI would be overkill in these systems as just an accelerometer and the most basic of blob recognition software would allow for a self-steering drone for the final (jammed) stretch to target.
To counter them AI would be useful in a camera/radar setup to recognize incoming drones, but ultimately I'd prefer a hardkill system over jamming. For vehicles especially a APS like system would make short work of most small drones. We can't forget that these things are flimsy AF and about as aerodynamic as a flying brick.
I'd guarantee even birdshot would make them drop out of the sky.
Any larger ordinance you'd drop from IDK a reaper or something could just be using its own targeting systems to prevent any sort of jamming, like laser guidance for example.
The more your ground forces focus on mitigating small cheap drones, the more the drones have effectively neutralized your fighting capability. Therefore whoever has drone supremacy has won the battle since infantry cannot be effective in drone dominated environments.
>infantry cannot be effective in drone dominated environments.
>infantry cannot be effective in armor/air/artillery dominated environments
#doubt
Same way you counter UAV missile drones
Tunnels, caves, underground concealment
These don't even need AA equipment, can take it down with small arms fire
Or you can hack it and repurpose it against the enemy
I mean these things are dirt cheap and civilians likely own more of them than the government
>can take it down with small arms fire
This is how I know you've never seen a drone before
there's a couple different way to shoot a drone or counter it. electro magnetic pulse generators are great because they have excellent range (generally better than lasers and AA cannons) and such devices are easily made as man-portable weapons. the electro magnetic waves basically just fry the electronics in a drone (like how when you hold a magnet up to a computer, the latter gets fucked up and won't remember its data).
anti aircraft artillery and SAMs also work. AAA is more effective for drones, especially small/swarming ones. in order for AAA to really be effective nowadays it's gotta have programmable airburst ammo and also an EO/IR sighting device with good object tracking software.
and as this anon says, passive air defense techniques work against drones, though this also applies to air power in general and to a certain extent artillery support as well. spacing personnel and equipment apart, using good concealment and cover, and employing decoys is a good way to keep yourself from being spotted from a UAV.
>EMP
>easily made
>easily made into a man portable weapon
Sometimes I struggle to discern if someone is severely schizophrenic or just uninformed.
Also, that bit about the magnet and the computer is so fucking stupid I can feel my brains melting out of my skull. I'm being baited, right? There's no way you can be serious. I refuse to believe someone could be walking around with such a deep level of profound mental retardation in their brain. Can you even dress yourself in the morning? Do you need your mother to fill out the captcha for you? Die infinitely moron.
Awwww, baba's first post
>Or you can hack it and repurpose it against the enemy

I'd say the best one are laser weapons
Drone vs drone.
I was thinking using another drone, another option would be a "laser" destroying the sensor on the camera may be an easy solution to stopping them.
>Would it for instance be possible to jam the signal by blasting massive amounts of radiowaves against the drones?
If you knew which frequency they operated on then it should be possible to do. Especially commercial ones that I highly doubt are built to cope with being jammed.
All these drones operate around 5.8 Ghz.
Fill the entire sky with a swarm of tiny drones so thick the full size drones can't fly through them and animals can't breathe without inhaling dozens of tiny drones that then shred their esophagus.
If you walk ok the radio operators transmission channel you effectively knock out his video feed.
If he cant see he cant fly. All you have to do is find the channel hes flying on and flood it with your own system.
The interference makes his piloting impossible.
A directed EMP weapon will be highly effective. I've designed and built such a weapon. It turns physical kinetic energy and instantly converts it into an EMP directional discharge. Around 500 feet I can generate around 100kv per meter, in a handheld package of less than 5 lbs. I can send multiple pulses with it, less than 2 seconds between pulses. Up to five before reloading in under 3 seconds. I'm surprised nobody has used the concept I'm using because it's extremely simple and the materials easily available. I'm sure most of you could figure out how to do it. I'll give you a hint: It's why animals know an earthquake is coming.
why aren't you a millionaire exporting this weapon if you really made it?
I have many patents paying me well across three industries: Defense, energy and IT. This one falls under a category of my ideas and systems I call "Game Changers". The pathetic idiots that dare suppose to rule the world in their hubris blinded arrogance need the occasional surprise they didn't see coming. Much like the arrogant knights didn't see steel spike arrows fired from longbows, or kings didn't see muskets and moveable type moving the ground under their feet.. I'm plenty wealthy enough. Now I want to see the world be better than what these pathetic worms have planned.
So what does this mean? You're going to give them to Militias to destroy government drones?
You worry about your own ideas and invention. It is none of your concern who I give anything of mine to or if I give it to nobody. You ask that question as if you have any right to anything of mine. That alone is enough for me to tell you to fuck off and to go fuck yourself.
Post one (1) piece of evidence for any claim you've made.
lol you didn't invent anything. Imagine you get this fucking mad over a simple question
post recipe or larp
You're assuming there's no countermeasures against spikes of voltage.
Consider that by distance between RX and TX the power at the receiver varies drastically. Also consider that there's redundancy. Also consider that there's fallback modes as "return home upon loss of communication". Also consider you may not know the frequency you may be trying to jam.
>but commercial drones are only allowed to send on 2.4 GHz!!!
Jammers and directed jammers have a reason to exist, but they're not fool proof.
laser defense systems, rheinmetall has some
Commercial drones are trivially jammable, with military drones you need advanced jammers that can analyze the frequency hopping and whatnot
i was thinking a shotgun or something a bit larger like a 20mm that combines a precision guided scope with a programmable airburst shell.
similar to xm25
could also be usefull in general positional combat.
Trained falcons
Only one option

shotgun
>raspberry pi
>servo
>gimbal/gyro assembly
>stepper motor
>openCV
>capacitors
>vape wire
>1/2inch pipe
>buckshot/birdshot
oops forgot the camera. And I guess you'd need nuts and bolts to put it on top of your vehicle.
There isn't that much off a point in the future.
You could use a Jetson Nano as control board and load a multimodal language model onto it.
It would be capable of making decisions without human interference.
This is an example
https://github.com/amazon-science/mm-cot
You could give it a live-picture and in conqunction a question
"Is this an enemy soldier?"
Those questions can be pre-programmed.
And it would infer an answer using its instrinsic CUDA cores and act accordingly. No need for human intervention.
I really don't think shotguns are the best option for taking drones out of the sky. The ammo is bulky and if using buckshot you'll probably miss almost every time if the drone is 150-200m up in the air.
The true answer is something like pic related.
Extremely high fire-rate with basically no recoil, each bullet having enough energy to easily take out the drone while being accurate enough to hit the drone.
Easily way better than a shotgun, just point it up and spray a cloud of 40 rounds in 2 seconds at the drone.
The ammo is light, compact and readily available. It's also relativly quiet, light and compact
>forward grip
>arisaka aa sight
>275 rounds mag

drone killer 3000
Use a signal detector and shoot them down. Like some mini iron dome
