judging from the top picture, you could just make one yourself when you reach camp in a couple of minutes with a few sticks
From my experience (two times in total lmao) if you bury the log holding sticks, it should be fine as long as its attended. I wouldn't recommend leaving it overnight, as those stick might fall over from the logs occasionally falling too hard.
What stops this fire from spreading up to the top of the latter of logs?
Just light yourself on fire before you bother making it.
