Either absent or scrap metal like the usual overhyped 60's technology R*ssian dogshit.

Most likely absent or we’d have seen more pictures. I think we only saw one maybe two destroyed last I checked? Ukraine is an OSINTs wet dream to the point that a random schmuck has been documenting every single Russian vehicle destroyed based on twitter pictures. And his accuracy is so good it’s used by journalists and some government officials as a reliable source.

The Russians can’t mass produce anything that can’t be made in a tractor factory so I’d say for this conflict it’s vaporware.

Don't they have a design flaw (i.e the center is wide open)?

I vaguely recall some mention of the unarmored remote turret being a flaw which has since been corrected but some bigger ones are
      >armed with a twin feed autocannon but mounts two autocannons anyways
      >uses a standard t-72 chassis and armor, seems minimally uparmored with even ERA
      >carries 4 missile launchers with no reloads
the only advantages it has over a BMP-2 even are resistance to heavy machine guns and autocannons and the superior dual purpose missiles of the type normally mounted to helicopters meanwhile it carries zero troops is not amphibious and has the logistical burden of a mbt
no wonder it was never widely adopted its only merit is the inefficient design looks dangerous

the terminator is a hyper niche design
T-72s only get +14 degrees of elevation so cant hit targets on rooftops
BMPs had a high-angle cannon, but had paper-thin armor, vulnerable to .50cal on the sides
so the terminator was designed to work within this environment
it got twice the firepower of the BMP, even more elevation, and in the well-armored T-72 hull

this is a weapon that only makes sense in a very specific area (urban warfare) to answer a very specific problem (russians couldnt just call in fire missions from artillery or air so they needed an organic answer and their MBTs have the worst elevation of any modern MBT)

I hear Russian tanks ain't so good at depressing their barrels either.

        >is not amphibious
seems like an upgrade to me considering how shit the amphibious features of the BMP line are, and in the opinion of this armchair general, that stupid feature sabotaged the entire BMP line and doomed it with inferior armor

They brought it up to their rear area in Luhansk, recorded and released a video, then sent them back to Russia immediately.

Some autist geolocated the video and they were no where near the front lines.

They went in surrounded with great media fanfare, retreated when hit by artillery and we've never seen anything since then.
I'll welcome any recent videos of them moving, fighting or even videos of their wrecks.
Otherwise this might actually be the case.

nah im fairly certain they were on the frontlines after the popasna breakthrough. there was a picture on r/combatfootage showing them sitting next to a couple tanks on a hill

The only time I have seen or heard about them being used in Ukrain is just before the Kharkiv offensive kicked off there was a Russian propaganda video at any repair facility somewhere in Ukrain and guy presenting the propaganda video walks past the Terminator which had some damage.

The Ukrainians captured most of them

Turns out it doesn't really matter how much armour your vehicle has if none of it is protecting the weapons systems or sensors. A single nearby shell burst can knock it out of combat and send It back for repairs. It doesn't help that Russia probably can't actually replace those nice expensive sensors either.

The commander had to ride on top due to the shitty optics so they probably had to stop using it.

if they were captured or destroyed the catalog would have been pics of it for days so they probably rolled out for a propaganda shoot and then went back in a warehouse

Good God how do you even see anything out of that thing as a commander? Doesn't appear to have commander optics, driver is virtually blind and gunner probably has a terrible field of view as well

      Anonymous

Supposed to have an array of optics, at least on the spec sheet.

      Anonymous

The whole design is supposed to be built around better optics and elevation. Doing stuff a BMP or T-72 can't do. Plugging their weakpoints.

Basically making sure dudes in rooftops or at long range in treelines get minced by autocannons and thermals before they can fire AT4s or RPGs at your armour the terminator is supporting.

Tbh for all the memes about Russian vehicles these and the modern BTR's are pretty good. Plenty of footage from Mariupol and pics of battle damage, so they have seen combat.

Just Russian's and Ukrainians won't exactly upload 4k footage of their doctrine for the enemy to analyze and develop counters.

Probably weren't found to be particularly useful in open field engagements, which shouldn't be a surprised since they're specifically made for city fights. Unfortunately for them they haven't had enough Grozny moments to justify their worth.

They were engaged as escort for tank by long range artillery.

They seem to have pulled back just fine but it seems clear that the shrapnel damage from the arty in the video has likely caused damage to the lightly armored superstructure and they lack spares.

you know, despite being supposedly designed for urban combat, wouldnt having an unmanned turret give the commander less visibility on the battlefield?

They opted to include twin mounted cannons because they couldn't figure out how to dual feed.
One of the guns shoots only HE, the other only AP.

    Figure it out yourself.

That is clearly wrong since the 30mm on BMP/BMD is dual feed

One for armor piercing, in case you encounter armored targets, and the other is high explosive, or fragmentation, if you encounter infantry.

I don't see what advantages it offers over just using something like a Shilka in a direct fire role. I know it has the ATGMs but given the use case is urban warfare I don't think it's really worth it.

They haven't been deployed as far as I can tell.
Everyone expected to see them at Mariupol, but instead it was the Tik-Tok Battalion in BMP-2s.

We really haven't seen that much in the way of urban combat where these are supposed to be used, and what we have seen the Russians just arty the shit out of everything for like a month and then walk in.

There is a media blackout for Russian content and the Russian army forbids recordings so the only thing we could possibly see is a shaky Ukranian head cam jumping into cover with a loud *FOBOBOBOBOBOB" in the distance or a smoking wreck getting paraded.
    It's impossible to say.
