The only thing that is effective in China is the private sector. The CCP is what makes it such a mess and hinders its development.
To answer your question, there was almost no private sector in the USSR with some exceptions that began to spawn after 1985.

The same way the USSR did, industrialize massively and then use said industry to produce farm equipment, now you don't need so many farmers. Then make machines/assembly lines to do everything faster and more efficient, now you don't need as many factory workers. Rinse and repeat for every industry. The problem with the USSR was that they kept spending so much resources fighting an arms race against the USA, this lead to their collapse, plus really crappy leadership towards the end

      >The CCP is what makes it such a mess and hinders its development
Yeah just never mind that China went from a feudalistic society to a world super power under the CCP, never mind that the CCP ended mass famines in China (a country known for having massive famines every year for a 1000 years), never mind that the CCP made the world's third strongest army. I could go on, needless to say that you are dead wrong

CCP creates a few famines to mass produce farm equipment, bringing China out of the medieval period, and ending future famines. morons bring up famines as an argument against the CCP. Remind me again anon, what government caused the Dust Bowl, Great Depression, and Housing Bubble of 09?

          >industrialize massively and then use said industry to produce farm equipment, now you don't need so many farmers.
Except the USSR didn't really do that to the correct extent. An ongoing problem all the way up until the collapse was that soldiers/conscripts had to be pulled from their duties to help with the harvest each year, as if it was the fricking 19th century.
          >Then make machines/assembly lines to do everything faster and more efficient, now you don't need as many factory workers. Rinse and repeat for every industry.
They did this, in the 1930s. And then that was it. They didn't innovate, they didn't keep up with technological innovations, they didn't get rid of redundancies or create new industries where required. They massively industrialised under Stalin and then just rested on their laurels for the next 50 years. The US steel industry underwent massive and very uncomfortable changes during the second half of the 20th century, yet production outputs increased while the workforce became a tenth of what it was. Soviet output stayed the same while the workforce stayed gigantic. The US steel industry became massively automated (and thus significantly more efficient) as cheap transistors became a thing while the Soviet steel industry in the 1980's was still much the same as it had been in the 1930's.

The USSR's xbox hueg arms spending was a significant part of the problem but not all of it. The other issue was the controlled economy that resulted in stagnation and a total inability to keep up with international competition.

          >soldiers/conscripts had to be pulled from their duties to help with the harvest each year
Yeah because you need more people during harvest, that's why farms in America today hire people for the harvest season before laying them off when it ends. The USSR just used soldiers rather than reducing the labor pool of other industries, thus solving the problem more efficiently
          >They didn't innovate, they didn't keep up with technological innovations, they didn't get rid of redundancies or create new industries where required
Blatantly false anon. Idk know where you could find such misinformation outside of a propaganda film

The numbers are easily fudged because they’ve been building ghost cities for years to keep their construction/residential real estate churning, which powers the intellectual property theft part of the economy

All of this is aside from the fact that you’re gaslighting us with the very way you’ve framed your question. That is, china hasn’t managed to create an effective state ran economy, it is merely a house of cards shuffling along on borrowed time further extended by artificial “0% covid” lockdowns

    >How did the Chinese manage to create an effective state run economy? That something not even the USSR

The USSR had to deal with raging alcoholics. I recently learned on another thread about the "boozer plane" (or whatever it's called). Just watch a few documentaries on alcoholism in Russia. The only thing greater than the servile attitude of the average Russian, is the addiction to vodka. During 1985–1987, Mikhail Gorbachev carried out an anti-alcohol campaign with partial prohibition. Prices of vodka, wine and beer were raised, and their sales were restricted in amount and time of day. The result? Sugar disappeared from the shelves as Russians started making their own homemade hooch with disastrous results due to poor quality.

On the other hand, China (much like Japan) has a a very strong social cohesion where the needs of the many trump the needs of the individual (contrary to the US' individualism). The Chinese government (and even people) will not blink an eye killing or deporting thousands of its citizens if it means that it will create development and growth for the rest. Oh, that and lying.

      Yessir.
That's why "bugmen" (or should it be "borg-men") is more than a superficial pejorative. They really are like insect drones with no concept of moral worth for the individual human, let alone animals.
I would genuinely prefer nuclear annihilation for the human race than Chinese hegemony.

    1. >effective
No one's quite sure about how strong the Chinese economy is. I saw an interesting analysis the other day that looks at the correspondence between artifical lighting as viewed from space and GDP per capita. The relationship between these two values holds strongly for most countries except for China; if you look at these two values in the same way they relate for the rest of the world then China's economy is perhaps 60% smaller than it is on paper. I'm not sure I believe it to be such a large number but I do think much of China's economic stats are fudged (for various reasons) and they aren't as big as we think. That said they're still the second largest economy in the world, even with fudged bullshit stats.

    2. Let's be forgiving and suggest that they do have an 'effective' economy based on some given definition of 'effective'. Yes, they do have an effective economy but it has nothing to do with being state run, quite the opposite. Since the days of Deng Xiaoping the CCP has essentially allowed the market to do as it pleases in the pursuit of boosting GDP, as long as holders of capital didn't intrude politically they were free to do what they wish economically.

This has been changing under Pooh Bear as they reorient to a political focus. A large number of analysts believe this reorientation is not so much due to them starting to feel economically strong after several decades of consolidation but more due to them beginning to feel politically weak due to economic weakness. This is having a negative feedback effect as it causes concern within the economy and causes even more capital flight and reluctance of foreign investors to participate in the economy.

The preponderance within Chinese politics and economics at all levels towards saving face and telling lies to keep those above you happy is going to continue to create what I term to be a "lie deficit" which will eventually catch up with reality, resulting in an economic reckoning.

I am certainly saying the first part because let's face it, frick the insectoids, but I am also cognisant of our own problems in the West. I believe we have our own significant problems with a "lie deficit" and the chickens will soon come home to roost. I don't think the effects will be quite as earth shattering as in China but it's certainly going to hurt once the balance books are totted up to account for decades of bullshit and nonsense (such as massively inflated stock market numbers, or real-estate becoming an increasingly gigantic proportion of GDP in many countries over the last few decades purely due to massive real-estate speculation that will inevitably pop)

EU and US economies still do manufacturing. The real money isn't in making the basic consumer goods, the real money is in making the factories that make the goods. That's what the EU and US manufacturing sectors do these days.

Your consumer shit says 'Made in China' on it. The factory in China that made that shit says 'Made in Germany' or 'Made in USA' or 'Made in Holland'.

That's the point of globalisation. Dumb cheap mass repetition grunt work goes to the dumb cheap mass repetition grunt work countries. The highly specialised expertise type of work stays in the West.

China gave foriegn firms access to dirt cheap labor on three conditions, avoiding common pitfalls of other developing nations where they sell their people's labor but end up not developing a more advanced economy.
    >skills training
The foreigners couldn't use all foriegn specialists for the more complicated parts of production, they had to train up and employ Chinese specialists. A factory might start with an all American engineering team, but from day one that American team has to have Chinese apprentices who'll eventually take over.
    >joint ownership
When Apple or whatever opens a factory in China, the factory is not directly owned by Apple. They have to create a company jointly owned by the Chinese and by Apple that owns and runs the factories. That way again Chinese people develop management and business skills, and if Apple decides to pull out the Chinese aren't fricked, they have a ton of people already in place doing half the work and with the structure for transitioning to a fully Chinese company or partnering with someone else.
    >special economic zones + township & village enterprises
Nation-wide overhaul would have caused massive turmoil and risked a USSR style collapse, along with potential for domestic uprising from conservative maoist elements. So instead, Deng and company only designated specific cities as open to foriegn manufacturing and investment, and reorganized communes as essentially locally owned companies in certain areas. This meant they could keep a lid on the rest of China and use those areas as testing grounds for what would bring wealth without causing destabilization, only spreading practices widely once they'd been trialed in the special economic zones. The township and village enterprises also allowed for a new form of semi-state run businesses that had enough continuity and similarity if you squint with the maoist communes that their implementation could be ideologically justified enough to avoid a major backlash.

They did frick all and the CCP is holding China back if anything. For all of it's history, China has always been one of the foremost powers of the world and was either at the very top of human civilization or vying for 2nd or 3rd place. The century of humiliation is a huge exeption to this rule but it's still just an abnormality as China has been naturally at the top pretty much almost any other time in the past, if China doesn't completely eclipse the US this century then the CCP fricked it up big time.
Which is completely possible as Xi is a moron.
