If reinforcements had shown up. Santa Anna had superior numbers, equipment, supplies and it still took him over 10 days to take the Alamo.
WHICH WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!
their heavier artillery was about to arrive the day of the assault but santa anna ordered the attack. up until that point they had weaker cannons to use against the fort. with the heavier cannons or just keeping up with the lighter cannons they would have slowly been whittled down
>Be Santa Anna >Can't defeat less than 200 dudes with shitty rifles, no supplies. Nothing >Have to sit outside and SEETHE until finally your big toys arrive
What a pathetic cuck lmao. I'm Polk took half his country, should've taken more and tossed those mutts down into South America
I often think about going back in time with a crate or two of ar-15’s and a couple thousand rounds of ammo...couple of thermal scopes too...then teach them how to use them real quick...would be awesome
In truth, the handful of guys from black hawk down could have held them off for at least a week, and probably defeated them, if equipped the same as when they crashed in Somalia. Not a ton of ammo, but the Mexicans wouldn’t have know what was left, just that the first wave was mowed down by an angry God. The more fun thought experiment is give the CSA about 20k AR10s, right before the battle of antietam, then have them storm north in DC without stopping to take prisoners. Give 2.5k AR10s to Forest, and tell him to go full moron as far north as Chicago at the same time, killing anything that moved. Kill Lincoln outright, and accept no peace. Simply roll the Union forces into the CSA command infrastructure since they were drafted anyway, just give them a new boss. Use them against anyone that didn’t surrender, then take Canada and Mexico. Everything is USA as far as the Duran Gap at southern Panama. After the war is over, ship all blacks back to Africa. Every last one. Build up your navy and start claiming islands in the Pacific for future bases. Take Bermuda, the Caribbean, the Azores, Saint Helena Trisa da Cuna, Easter Island, the entire French Polynesia, and anything else that catches your eye. Support a unified Germany, and seek to support a white ethno-state in Europe, as an ally. Support Japanese expansion and rule of Eastern China, while also supporting Tibet (to include the entirety of Western China).
When the dust as settled, make Africa in a game reserve. Forbid any trade or aid to the continent, with the obvious exception of Rhodesia. Make sure The Brits keep India.
Have an armed, well supplied force around 1/3rd, or even 1/4th the size of the Mexican forces. They'd have steamrolled with less than 1/10th the casualties.
They couldn't have. The Alamo was not a fortress. It was never intented to be a fortress. It was a walled mission designed to keep Indian cattle theft for a minimum. There were not enough soldiers, nor enough ammo, to keep the massive Mexican army from breaching it's long straight walls.
And morons in this threat obviously don't know what a fricking siege is. Santa Anna took 2 weeks in order to starve, dry, and mental harass the Texians in order to make the actual attack easier. And it obviously worked.
The only two reasons Santa Anna lost is: >because the Mexican army was divided all across Mexico putting down multiple rebellions against the destruction of the 1825 constitution. >because of a surprise attack at San Jacinto.
It was luck, not skill, that gave Texas a win.
Mexico lost because Santa Anna was an idiot who led from the front, tired out his army in a long-ass forced march through SE Texas swamps, fell for a tactic that never should have worked, got captured and was told "Sign this treaty or hang"
that's how Texas was the only one of the several rebelling breakaway Mexican states that actually succeeded. Because Santa Anna was an overconfident and brutal dictator, had rebellions all over Mexico, and still charged off deep into extremely difficult terrain favoring his enemy. the Alamo siege and that slow march bought the time needed for Houston to train the rebels into something resembling an army.
It's actually pretty interesting stuff. Everyone fleeing East during and after the Alamo and Goliad to then make a stand. Including some scorched earth so the Mexican army couldn't forage.
Like, leaving the Alamo to fall was the right decision since there wasn't much chance of winning there, and the siege bought valuable time.
What was the end strategy for Santa Anna when he banning cattle trade with America and then used the inflated cattle prices to enrich himself trading with American ranchers.
yeah, rereading about this shit with accumulated knowledge there were a lot of standard egotistical strongman dictator frickups on his part. Pointlessly ruthless, directly commanding the military (from the front), grabbing power through cronyism and backstabbing, leaving his country far worse off and remembered as a villain by all parties.
Long history of that by Mexicans, just look at the Colorado dons fricking shit up left and right for personal gain. Hindsight 20/20 and all but not a damn bit of foresight running your cattle through claimed land and pissing off literally anyone that had a penny to their name with your antics.
By leaving. Houston had sent Bowie to go to the Alamo to take the artillery and get everyone out, but he stayed and everyone died >t. everyone in Texas who's actually paid attention in Texas History courses
not initially, after bowie and travis arrived bowie was convinced by colonel niel and travis that the alamo was important or something along those lines
If Seguin had a biplane instead of horses.
Why didn't they think of that?
Leaving large amounts of tequila in the town for Mexican army to get blind drunk on. Then abandon the fort and join Houston.
If reinforcements had shown up. Santa Anna had superior numbers, equipment, supplies and it still took him over 10 days to take the Alamo.

This. Just need more dudes. That's pretty much the answer to most "how could X have won Y". More dudes. Better dudes and more of 'em.
more people doesnt help when you are getting artilleried like fish in a barrel
That artillery worked so well that it still took well over a week to defeat the defenders. How many charges failed again? Two wasn't it?
their heavier artillery was about to arrive the day of the assault but santa anna ordered the attack. up until that point they had weaker cannons to use against the fort. with the heavier cannons or just keeping up with the lighter cannons they would have slowly been whittled down

Depends on how many people you have to stack as makeshift fortifications.
HE SENT FOR REPLACEMENTS FOR HIS WOUNDED AND LAME BUT THOSE TROOPS THAT WERE COMING NEVER CAME NEVER CAME NEVER CAMEEEE
>historical movie
>modern infrastructure of the time look like contemporary ruins
The Alamo was an old missionary anon.
I often think about going back in time with a crate or two of ar-15’s and a couple thousand rounds of ammo...couple of thermal scopes too...then teach them how to use them real quick...would be awesome
everyone in this board probably has done that since they were little and still does it from time to time
Just give Davy Crockett a Barrett and let him snipe Santa Anna.
give Davy Crocket a Davy Crocket
Add a couple of M60s for good measure and you have my wettest dream
I wonder if Bowie would be willing to trade his knife for a pig

The CSA's trash logistics didn't let them operate anywhere far beyond their own lines.

Would Mexico have won the war if Santa Anna didn't murder him?
