Say something nice about it. Optic is Elcan Spectre DR 1-4x. RSA-S reddots will be added when the trial phase is over and the G36 is actually phased out

I am sure that the rail system is a better long term choice compared to the integrated optic on the G36? Do you by chance know why they abandoned the transparent mag from the G36? I always liked it.
Oh I forgot, the backside of the mags is still fully transparent, that's the standard Gen3 Polymer Magazine
So are you, what's the point? Wanna impress your enemy to death with your beauty?
Its ugly, you wont chage that but Cerakote will
Horrible coating, ruins low signature in all spectra. Might as well wear a clown mask and a signal light to give away your position even better
I want some of these mags. At least 4.
They are 40$ per mag in Germany and ~130$ in the US.
>fifty shades of FDE
I sleep
RSA-S = military variant of Zeiss Z-Point, installed on all G36 rifles, from base version up the A4
forgot file
The mags are still transparent in the bottom. Also: transparent mags reflect and shine like fuck in night vision or when light falls on them. But the rifles are supposed to have low signature in those conditions, that's also why RAL 8000 is the color - it's has lowest signature in visible, thermal and night vision
Thank you, I guess it makes more sense then. Do you know when the troops will actually get them because I remember stories of people running around with G3s in 2001 despite it being introduced in 97
>Do you know when the troops will actually get them because I remember stories of people running around with G3s in 2001 despite it being introduced in 97
390 are already delivered and testet right now. After the tests and potential modifications because of troop feedback, the first new rifles will be introduced in 2026 and the G36 is supposed to be fully replaced by 2031 (HK can't produce faster).
Do you have information on when the ZO 4x30 and the RSAS were developed. English sources are minimal und meine Deutsch ist nicht so gute.
Its ugly
You're ugly.
Looks like a soulless american AR
>Oh no, the new assault rifle looks like an assault rifle
Yeah, sorry for not making it look like a heavy machine gun. We'll keep that in mind for next time
correct
Small quality of life features:
>Can be fully dis- and reassembled without tools
>cheek raiser can be dismounted if soldiers prefers
>Honeycomb Grid/Anti-reflection device attached to optic with strings so they don't get lost if you take them off
>HK is still clinging to HK mod
Are Germans really ALL autistic?
Keymod is king in Europe. Hkey fixes all the issues with it anyway.
>All that quality gear
>A fucking holosun
Jesus Christ is the extra $200 on an ACRO or $300 on a T2 really that hard?
Unironically the Holosun is better.
MLOK is ITAR restricted and therefore wasn't allowed as an option. Keymod is too bad.
So HKey it is.
someone should tell the UK and knight's, then.
>UK
>knight's
that right there should have told you everything you needed to know. the state department trusts the germans about as much as they trust the french. germany doesn't have anything like the relationship with the us that the uk does. the very idea is fucking laughable.
that has nothing to do with ITAR or mlok
The ITAR restriction was always about buying European i.e. German
That means no Mlok for now, but handguard updates are easy, the Brits switched from Keymod handguards to Mlok during their testing phase of the new L85A3s
You dumb motherfucker, THE GERMAN ARMY TENDER SPECIFICALLY RULED OUT ALL AND ANY PARTS WITH ITAR RESTRICTIONS
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/10/12/germanys-next-army-rifle-cannot-american-due-itar/
Green? Damn that's a nice change. What color?
The rail is stupid. Too short and dickmod. Should be mlok and longer. You can give it a cutout near the gas block to access it. Spectre DR fucks. The green is ugly. Should be black or fde. Adjustable cheek piece on an infantry rifle is unnecessary.
lol pop-up front sights are so fucking gay. Fixed sight post will always be goated.
I don't like the steeply angled grip one bit, the earlier marks are much more comfortable.
It's the same grip angle as the G36
Shows what you know. G36 was too old with its integrated optic, no stanag mags, horrible ergonomics, no rails and carry handle
ZO 4x30i was publicly shown in 2012, developed a few years before. The RSA-S is from around 2005 I think, but it's basically just a slightly updated version of the original G36 reflex sight which dates back to the 90's
>The hand guard is ass, it should be longer
Increases weapon weight too much, tender limited the rifles weight
> and the barrel should be shorter like the KS-1
This isn't civilian range shooting. A general-prupose infantry service rifle with less than 16.5" barrel is just absurd, even the US still uses the M16A4 with a 20" barrel for like 80% of their troops. Effective range of the G36 is up to 800m, the same was demanded from the 416, so shorter than 16.5" isn't possible
The US doesn’t use the M16A4 anymore because they realized a 20 inch barrel is absurd. The USMC switched to the M27 which has a 16 inch barrel and the M4 has a 14.5
When the tender for the G36 successor was made (2014), the Marines hadn't even switched to the M4 yet and still were using the M16A4.
Most national guard and reserve troops are still being equipped with the M16A4 as are almost all non-frontline troops. It's still in the "being phased out"-phase, and was even more prominent back when this tender was made
And yes, G36 20"/M16A4 20" both have maximum effective area range up to 800meters, point range is more 550m
Iraq 2019 i saw a single reservist come into theater with an M16A2. All the BCT and inf Divisions 1st, 2nd 3rd 4th have M4A1s but in a real war peer to peer god knows a lot of M16A2/A4s would be pulled out for the reserves and drafted soldiers
>general-prupose infantry service rifle with less than 16.5" barrel is just absurd
Huh?
>the US still uses the M16A4 with a 20" barrel for like 80% of their troops.
You fockin wot m8?
>Effective range of the G36 is up to 800m
El oh el, now I know you're fucking with me
>Shows what you know
I literally own a select-fire G36.
>Too old
The AR predates it by almost 50 years and the G36 has a perfectly decent design to it.
>Integrated optic
This is the biggest flaw, yes. I give it a pass because it’s iconic and works ok, but for as advanced as it was conceptually, it’s poorly made and secured to the receiver in a suboptimal way.
>No STANAG mags
Simple magwell swap takes 30 seconds. Just pop a single pin. But the newer mags with no side clips are great, so it’s not really an issue.
>Horrible ergonomics
It’s one of the comfiest assault rifles on the market. Big triangle handguard, comfy stock, lightweight, nice 45 degree ambi selector, it’s super comfortable.
>No rails and carry handle
There are multiple options for that. B&T options, C-style top rail, bolt-on rails on the later style handguards, the weird IDZ setup, you name it.
I used to be a grunt years ago. I know the things I like in a fighting rifle. The optics package/top rail is a big flaw, but overall the 36 is still a great choice, and I’m happy to reach for it in a pinch.
>The AR predates it by almost 50 years and the G36 has a perfectly decent design to it.
Wtf who talks about the date of the original rifle? The actual 120.000 rifles in the German army are now 25 years old, when the 416 comes they'll be 30 year old.
>It’s one of the comfiest assault rifles on the market.
Which version, mother fucker?? You know that there are 4 base versions (and a few outliers)? G36 original, A1 and A2 all have that G3 cheek weld that bonks your face. Tha A4 has a comfy cheek raiser.
>Simple magwell swap takes 30 seconds. Just pop a single pin. But the newer mags with no side clips are great, so it’s not really an issue.

Yes you dumb fuck, you could throw a kit on it. But that's more expensive than buying a new rifle and the old rifles can't just be kept as is
Goddammit that was the original point I made
>The actual rifles are old
Tell the Bundienaggers to stop being so broke and buy new rifles then lel.
>Which version is comfiest?
I prefer the later E stock with the mounting holes for the cheek rest. Had one on my previous build, a nice K. But the earlier stocks are nice too.
>Complaining about G3 cheek weld
I own a select-fire G3 as well. LOP is a bit short, since it’s built for Euro manlets, but even I don’t have issues with the cheek weld. Learn to shoot.
>A replacement magwell (lmao unnecessary) and top rail is more expensive than buying new rifles
No. Now, if you think the entire fleet of old rifles is completely blown out and in dire need of replacing ASAP, then a new rifle could be warranted. But MY point is that the 36 is a perfectly fine rifle. Have HK do a batch with an aluminum receiver with an integrated pic rail in the style of the Lithuanian B&T or KSK rails, or even that weird short iron sight B&T gooseneck rail, and keep the rest of the rifle the same. Offer a Spuhr style magwell swap if interoperability is actually important (it isn’t, and G36 mags are great), and you’ve got a fantastic new version of an already great rifle that solves pretty much every complaint.
But I guess Stoner Supremacy wins again, enjoy your mid not-AR.
Looks ugly and no better than having a nice M4gery. Should have kept to the G36. Even if it has flaws (really, it’s just the way the optics package mates to the receiver), it’s a fairly easy fix with either a good rail system or a new receiver design with a one-piece integrated pic rail setup, maybe made from aluminum. Drop back to the old 15.4 “CQB” barrel that HK tried shilling a few years ago and you’re golden.
But politics likely wouldn’t allow that.
Could easily have fixed all G36 "problems" with the kit from Steyr. Could install a heavier gas system like the Mexicans did too.
>Could easily have fixed all G36 "problems" with the kit from Steyr.
No.
>Steyr Kit + conversion cost (Steyr won't sell kits without also getting the contract to convert them)
>not-ideal magazine port + new optic to replace built in ones
>missing cheek rest which 90% of polled soldiers demanded
>barrel not thick enough for the required precision after dumping 120 rounds
>no stanag rails on handguard
>procure new stanag magazines for all 120.000 service rifle
Steyr Kit would've been just as expensive to procure while still having a 30 year old weapon lacking modern features
The Green is based but the FDE furniture looks terrible they should have gone with dark green or black. The hand guard is ass, it should be longer and the barrel should be shorter like the KS-1. Hopefully they got rid of the forward assist but I doubt it.
Ijust love how you demand a shorter barrel but a longer handguard when the handguard is still longer than the M4's
And… what’s your point. You can still have both…
>every country on the planet is phasing out their indigenous service rifles in favor of some AR derivative
kneel
>they phased out their plastic AR18 for an AR15 with a g36 piston bolted to it
wow what a huge change
Why does the hk416 get uglier with each new iteration?
all ARs are the same
only the price varies.
Hey dude 2014 called it wants it's keymod back.
>Say something nice about it.
Almost as good as an AR
>HKeymod
Big oof. Even Britain told HK to fuck off and add mlok to the l85 upgrade.
>mfw I live to see Bundeswehr soldiers running around with an M16
>eesh vill keeyneh teenage queen
>eesh vill noor meyn M16
