hey all. im a hospital nurse and as a hobby i study survival medicine and medical prepping.

i want to start a youtube channel where i talk about treating chronic diseases in the post-shtf or grid-down scenario. but, i've never started a youtube channel to create content before and i really don't know much about it.

what i notice is theres a ton of content around "acute illness", like treating broken bones, stopping bleeding, gunshot wound trauma - but the reality is that stuff will be pretty minimal compared to grandmas COPD when she runs out of meds, or your daughters type1 diabetes when you can't find insulin.

not much effort seems to be put towards managing chronic illnesses post-shtf, which is where i want to carve out my niche.

any advice from anyone whos started an PrepHole or prepper themed youtube channel before? i have a wireless lapel mic and plan to use my iphone 14 pro camera to record.

i think my first video will be like "top 10 chronic illnesses that you'll need to treat post-shtf" or something, because it seems like "top 10"-style videos get good traction. i'll need to learn a lot, like how to edit videos, how to design thumbnails that get clicks. maybe even make one of those stupid mr beast faces for the thumbnail (jk i would never fucking do that)

any advice?

You should make sure you say in your videos that you are a nurse so your medical advice is valid.

I definitely want to, but I also want to provide peer reviewed sources since the public opinion has changed about nurses so much. Basically “fuck nurses” is the new cool.

“Fuck nurses” is the new cool from PrepHole and War Mode, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Make sure you're up on whatever disclaimers you need to give when providing "medical information" on the internet.

cool idea, i have access to the UpToDate database through my workplace so I can just rip all that info and package it into my video. It tells meds, dosages, and relevant info for the disease. Let me see if I can access it remotely and ill answer your question

If you're a hot female nurse that will help a lot, if you're not then I suggest inviting some of your hot female nurse colleague's PrepHole on your trips and using them in your thumbnails.

Sounds very cool. How would you treat diabetes in a grid down scenario? What about something like kidney disease? Just managing diet in the early stages?

this isnt a niche probably because the people you would be marketing to all assume anyone with chronic anything just isnt gonna make it post shtf. all shtf prep is larp anyway, which is why they will all watch videos about gunshot wounds (epic/brutal/totally a real skill i will need) and not on managing diabetes (boring/lame/for fatties)

I want to learn how to numb and surgically remove a skin cyst and sew myself back up, how to get the proper numbing agent and administer it? And the slice and sewing of course.
