I've been in french equivalent of National Guard, my regiment (3rd Regiment of Marine Artillery) was just under an Legion's barrack for their special preparations, mostly before deployment. I had a lot of talk with them, on very rare occasion we even had some sergeant taking us on basic training when our were busy.
They are probably the best infantry in all our army before the special forces, but I don't think there nothing impossible to join them. You need to have an excellent physical condition, preferably some bases of french (understanding in fact) and be ready to get the most strange tasks made to prove you are capable of being a perfect obeidiant soldier. The rest is the same as our infantries and paratroopers training, which is close to the one in U.S..
And the most important thing : you must like France, a lot, patriotism is the main purpose of the FFL.
There were talks in the past to allow EU citizens to join, but nothing came of it. Also there are now regular discussions to bring back national service, so I wouldn't get my hopes up
I did averange and there were ton of guys better than me and since I'm from first world c**t they may have saw me as a quitter
A lot of guys got definitif or got fricked by swim test so I got away with it lightly compared to other
Maybe you failed the gestapo test. I'm unironically scared now, I wanted to join, and I'm from the butt of the world, so if they said to me "come back in three months" I would not know what to do. >swim test
They "recommend" you to know how to swim at least 50 meters
It's possible, but I tought I did ok and I was pretty sure about my chances but i'll be more prepared this time since I know what to expect at most also Aubagne is 3 hours of train from my house lmao
"Reccomend" means you have to do it to be a valuable candidate. No one who failed or couldnt do it was selected
Also if you are from a third world wherever the frick check your teeths because for the smallest thing they will send you home it's the only medical thing where i don't reccomend to lie since you'll do x ray if you go on in selection

What the hell are those? If you have sharped teeth (pointy teeth that leave small gap between them) it's not an issue because I have those too but missin teeth CAN be a problem if other candidates are better. It takes luck to enter too. Can't get fake teeth? If you replace them you'll be fine

I was there for nearly a year in 2016. Volunteered in Paris. I went through the preselection, selection, rouge, and basic. Went to regimental training and deserted after that.
There was a confirmed FFL anon participating in Mali when all that shit was going down. Also the first time I ever saw a timestamped famas here.

I was too much of a pussy for it. And I didn't want to spend another year by doing basically the same miserable shit as I did in basic.
