Probably real in their heads. When its 3am, you've been deprived of sleep and are forcing alertness with energy drinks and then some homosexual starts talking about how the locals say there are Russian ghosts haunting the very mountain you're occupying; you can convince yourself you're hearing all sorts of things.

Hmm, Muslims don't burn the dead and keep the ashes. It is usually buried in a piece of cloth.

And even those cultures that do, don't keep the urn on a mantel, they scatter bury or use a columbarium, that's a very Anglo thing

It's just Jinn. There were certain places in Afghanistan nobody would touch because Jinn lived there.

What are you saying? That the Ghosts were wearing NODs or the living soldiers saw the ghosts because they were wearing NODs.

This happened when the soviets were deploying NGV in belrus and east poland, began seeing dead kids and civilians in the woods that did not answer and were not there when they were not looking down a nvg tube, all recorded in the military archives and seen before they were resealed again under putin

is there any non-schizo source for this?

... is this why digital nvg is getting more popular?

It's just sleep deprivation mixed with too much caffeine.

I ended up experiencing hallucinations that way. Had to get help. It mercifully went away when I finally got sleep.

Being in a warzone can be spooky at night, you're on edge from the start, it's always possible you're standing where someone was violently killed, empty villages, stray left behind dogs that creep around and make strange noises, I think it's the only time I was really creeped out as an adult
