has anyone here had any success in removing a very tight ring by wrapping a piece of ribbon around your finger? I'm not sure how I got the ring over my knuckle in the first place.

Use oil or something
Or just get a Sawzall and cut it
Hurry before your finger swells up
alright, I have to go buy some ribbon. dental floss isn’t going to work for how hard I’m going to have to pull on it. it’s not even a metal ring, so I think I could cut it off with a file, but I’d really not like to ruin the ring.
fag
Put your hand in a bowl of ice water
I always thought that rings are stupid precisely because they'll get stuck like this, fingers will swell up for various reasons and then the ring will make it worse. I've only ever worn 'circlets' on my finger, a band of metal that wrap around most of my finger but not all the way around, and I test that I could bend it with great force. Rings are a part for machines, not a manacle for flesh!
Stick finger in a jar of cold cream, or a ziplock bag of cold cream. OP should also eat a little less and avoid foods that makes op swells up, like salt.
I couldn’t get it over my knuckle, bros. I filed it off, and my finger is now free. thank you for your concern.
My grandfather accidentally slammed his hand in a door and his wedding ring got squashed, almost had to go to the hospital but he cut the ring off in time.
His finger was purple for about a week.
Take fluid pills and keep your hand elevated above your heart
The easiest way is to never put a ring on your finger in the first place
Cut your finger off so you don't have to ruin the ring. A quick chop from a cleaver or an axe will do the trick. You can always have your fingers reattached if you choose to.
