>want the ultimate shtf go bag gun
>decide it needs to be compact enough to fit in almost any bag but be better then a pistol
>buy pic related
>breaks down really small, threaded barrel, takes glock mags and ar grips, lots of mounting points
>get a folding grip, holosun reflex sight, binary trigger, 30 round glock mags
>want pistol grip but that's a no no so settle for a sling instead
>looks tight
>but it's SO FUCKING HEAVY
>recoil kind of sucks on it too
>design flaw right off the bat, take down pin falls out with every few shots
>loose it for good next time I go to the range
>call Ruger, they want me to pay $30 to send it in for a part I can put on myself in seconds
>hang up and just shove a bolt in there
>works better then the factory part and actually stays in
>can't really sell it with a jerry rigged part
>heavier then an ar
>high recoil too
>brother calls it an ork gun because it's so heavy and bulky

yeah it's ruger it's shit, almost as bad as their AR15
fuck off (nobody needs more than10 rounds) Bill Ruger
What's wrong with their AR 15? I was looking for a cheap AR just to keep sitting in my closet.
Go with psa, they've gotten much better.
The 3 uppers I got from them are fine, carbine is a little over gassed but not bad.
>What's wrong with their AR 15?
bunch of proprietary just as good sidegrades that enrage the milspec fags
1:8 twist instead of 1:7
ruger flashider
ruger fsb
ruger barrel nut
ruger rear sight
non standard barrel profile
honestly nothings wrong with them unless you want an "generic milspec ar15" and get a ruger ar 15 instead of what you expected.
I was contemplating the one in 5.7, but it's extremely unattractive with the pistol grip from the 57 looking slapped on instead of a designated mag well.
I don't know if it's feasible to sling fire one like an mp7, but that would've been my go to dependent on local laws.
They make a pistol variant of it now that works with a 1913 brace adapter, but I still wouldn't recommend it, I am currently in the process of reviewing one and I've already broken the fucking gun in less than 500 rounds. The sear is galled and won't engage consisntely and fails to fire about 5 out of every 7 trigger pulls.
third 10/22
why 3? well i sold the first 2 to friends who got into shooting and that was the gun they learned how to shoot on. and they offered decent amounts of money when i told them just buy a new one.
I hate it cause i can tell the quality decline and how much i have to replace or get it up to par with the last one.
im stuck with a mediocre training gun for noobs . that i only bought to ease noobs into shooting. a gun i personally hate and refuse to spend money on upgrading while knowing exactly what its missing.
if i wanna shoot a 22lr rifle for fun i dont bring that 10/22. i have better things to blow ammo through.
>10/22
Why? Own a modern and a not modern 10/22; they both seem to be a fine cheap .22. Every other modern 10/22 I've looked at has been fine when I looked at it at gun stores as well.
Yeah the plastic stock is meh. Slippery. Nylon but no texture. Feels fine when you throw wood on it though. Don't think I got hit in the cheek every shot but that could be due to height/face difference between us.
>spent another $200 in parts
KNS piston because it was overgassed? Because mine feels like it's gassed a little more than AKs should be only having owned one AK. Yes I know they're often a little overgassed but it doesn't feel like it should be that much.
No piston, I looked into it but quickly decided I didn't want to be drilling into stuff. MOE stock, handguard with more to grab, larger charging handle, and a 74 style brake. Overall I am happy with it.
How does it feel to shoot? I still say mine recoils more than my AR15, SKS, or even an AR-10 (.308) I shot. Did that rubber pad help any? I'll shoot mine every now and then but it isn't great to shoot. SKS shoots about the same groups so on top of the price of x39 going nuts (seriously who the fuck is paying $0.50/rd for that Romanian stuff) I haven't shot it in a while. It's become a project between ammo prices and the recoil. Maybe I just need a fatter stock pad; milspec stocks don't have the largest surface area after all.
It feels a lot more straight back with recoil and I can firmly pull it into my shoulder. So much more manageable. I'm far from the best shooter, groups were nothing to boast about but I could at least control the rifle for follow up shots.
My ammo was about $.50 a round but I got a box of 1,000 at a show and that was enough to last me a bit. I probably do overpay on most things but it's my hobby so it doesn't bother me as long as the result is worth it.
Honestly it's retarded that the 10/22s don't at least come with a BX trigger, but all three of them I own just basically wound up only having the stock receiver after basically modding shit and throwing Kidd and Volquartzen parts at it. Maybe it would just be better to start with a Tony Kidd 10/22 rather than doing the ship of Theseus shit that's basically a rite of passage for 10/22 owners.
>Guns You Regret Buying
My twin 1300 Defenders. For real they are neat and all, but I shouldve wait for a 590a1 or and old Wingmaster.
Phoenix HP22A. Got 2 of them cause they were dirt cheap. Trying to find a gun buyback program that gives $150 for handguns so I can profit.
>Taurus Thunder 380CC: Clunky, felt gritty compared to my PPK/S. Took mags that were impossible to find. Got some neat rubber grips for my PPK/S and haven't looked back. Sold it.
Sig P365SAS: Goofy as fuck fiber optic "sight" that I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with. I mostly got it because my dad had one so we could have matching pistols but sold it for being a piece of shit. He can't hit anything with his either. Sold it.
>Century PTR91, with the top rail + 5 surplus mags: It was neat but I never was able to get through a full mag without it mangling cartridges. Like, brass bent almost 90 degrees getting jammed up in the action. Not sure if it needed broken in but this was during peak covid so I wasn't wanting to pay almost $1 a round to find out. Sold it.
>Yugo M90: Beautiful gun, super accurate. Bought a Zastava flash hider, scope mount, and 4 steel Zastava mags to go with it. But just didn't feel "right" for me. Felt front heavy compared to my regular AKMs and I really wanted an M90NP but they're unobtanium. The finish was a bit too pretty so I didn't want to take it out and get it all fucked up. Got it riiiight before PSA came out with the AK-556 that takes AR mags which I probably would've got instead. Sold it.
Now everything I have I'm pretty happy with. Next thing I wanna fuck with is a retro A1 style upper.
>Next thing I wanna fuck with is a retro A1 style upper.
Same here the A1 was peak performance.
>Taurus thunder... you dont even know the maker of the gun you own. PPK is bulkier than the Bersa cc.
>Sig SAS falling for sig bs marketing "SAS" and that that gimmick sight, "sight is shit".No shit.
> yugom90 not even one problem. *is too pretty but not the pretty i wan*
Do you even look at the guns and handle them before you buy? What a whiny bitch smooth brain.
Fucking retards complaing about anything.
My bad, the BERSA was too shitty to remember who made it. Granted, the PPK/S is slightly large dimension-wise, but it's a much better gun.
gsg mp40
i dont like how the charging handle can be pulled out, considering getting some 3m gorilla snot or jb weld and shoving it in, bearing mount loctite didnt work
it doesnt jam very often even with cheap ammunition but I did have one instance where I ran the action back holding the gun sideways and the ejection was weak (unfired case) and it fell back into the gun infront of the bolt and it took tools and and a minute or two to remove it.
I otherwise like the gun but the stock kit is stupid expensive and i had to buy a stupid metric to 1/2-28 adapter to put a can on it, ontop of that there is no optic mount included or screws and the kit is unavailable and yet again theyre some odd metric screws that I cant find to adapt a rail onto it
I know its retarded to put an optic on a 9mm carbine with a 8" barrel but its a shenanigan i had an itch for.
oh also now theyre going for about 500 bucks now which is fucking awful for whats basically a downgrade from a hipoint carbine, I think they used to be 100 bucks cheaper
ruger 10/22
ruger american rimfire
>ruger american rimfire
Why ? Have one, plastic basic. Not so well finished but overall short and gud.
Bought a WASR a few weeks ago and it just feels like dogshit compared to my AR. I think this is the first case of buyer's remorse I've had since getting into this hobby
I was feeling that too. At least in its stock form with black poly furniture: hard to get a cheek weld and sight picture, slippery handguard, stock whacked the shit out of my cheek every shot. And I admittedly overpaid for it because they were going to become harder to get a week later in NY.
Spent another $200 in parts but it actually is a fun rifle now. Maybe I wish I got a 74 but I know my opportunities to buy ammo would be rare.
WASRs were cool when they were cheap as beans. The jankyness was part of the charm. At this point they’re so expensive, it’s worth it to pay the extra money to upgrade to a ZPAP or a Jack.
bulged trunnions are gay
I have a zpap and I kinda wish I had gotten a wasr.
OP here, if anyone has a recommendation for a backpack pdw I all ears.
What should I get?
P320 Raider, it's worth the struggle to wait for the drops. Join the flux raider group on zuccbook if you want to know when the next drops are (and also learn about the best accessories). Nice and affordable aftermarket ecosystem. SBR optional but highly recommended for comfort.
B&T TP9 if you're rich.
B&T USW-G17, similar to raider in that it's just a chassis for a pistol, but for glocks. Decent not amazing. Chassis can be hard to find, I got one by finding a LGS that is a B&T dealer (listed on B&T's site), calling them and asking them to order one. Requires SBR tax stamp to assemble because there's no brace option.
For a backpack PDW, all of these are superior to an MP5 or AR9 because the mag is in the grip so the overall length is shorter. Though nothing beats the draw speed of the Raider with its spring-activated stock.
My aero M5 build with a faxon barrel and dark hour defense magnesium handguard for a hunting rifle.
Wish I just got a tikis t3 because i cant afford to shoot it I spent like 3x as much basically just for a pistol grip.
If a bear ambushes me hunting I guess he's fucked tho.
My only 2 guns rn. Police took my glock 19, rip. Lynx 12 would be cool if it didn't fte every other round. Always wanted an underfolder ak but the barrel on the wasr noticeably curves to the left, haven't fired it yet. Got the lynx for 350, got the wasr for 850 and put 150 in furniture/accessories on it. Now I wish I saved my money for an m77 or dsa58
>police took my glock
What the fuck?? Why??
Got stolen and used in a murder. When the trial was over and I could get it back from evidence they "were unable to locate it". Still got the case, the first 3 of the serial were BBW
Damn that sucks. Sorry dude. I’m sure the pigs stole it. Maybe get a lawyer? Although I bet that would be more expensive than the gun.
>Police took my glock 19
You got a tale to tell us, Anon.
We all need the story!
You know the biggest issue? 9mm is hardly any better out of a longer barrel.
P320, but only because of the drop fire issue, and because it uses Indian MIM parts, and has a high bore axis, and is a nagger rigged clone of the P250, and because it suffers from poor internal design like fixed ejectors that can get bashed by factory mags and safety mechanisms that disengage with minimal movement, and because it was recorded firing from holsters thrice (to say nothing of undocumented cases), and because SIKH SAUER has a history of treating its customers as a beta tester as well as general sloppy weapons design in other platforms like the Cross or the MCX
Jd machine ar15
I liked the lifetime warranty they offered but then the dude went to jail or some shit and now they don’t exist and the warranty isn’t worth anything
Franklin armory billet lower, it’s very 2016 and dated. I bought it during the hilary Clinton scare and registered it as a California bullet button assault weapon
California claimed “once you register it, then you can remove the bullet button since it’s an assault weapon and you can’t do this stuff with it including hunting”
Lol jk you guys can’t remove the bullet button even though magazine locks don’t work in the state anymore you still need to keep it on. And you can’t stop by and get food after the range you have to drive straight home and you have to avoid all the school zones since those are no gun zones
Lastly rock island armory 1911
It’s gritty, slide was fucking locked when I bought it, took it apart cleaned it, lubed it, still felt gritty, so racked the slide for hours until it was kinda smooth while watching net flux
Everyone says 1911 triggers are nice… not on the $400 1911 of a Saturday night special I have
Did you actually, seriously register your gun?
Registration leads to confiscation, always.
I had three pistol braces during the brace amnesty. I could have received three stamps. Never registered any. Fuck gun registration, fuck the ATF, and fuck you too.
Yeah, the Franklin armory billet lower is registered, I don’t mind if the government takes that one I can build a better gun out of the parts
Hipoint C9 I got for $99 at a pawn shop. Utter dogshit unreliable piece of junk. Never trust any homosexual telling you they are in any way good. Can't even get through a mag without locking up.
Lmao at least you fell for the memes and are only out $100. Hi points are fucking trash
Never buy Ruger.
My Ruger MkIV - good
My 10/22 - great
My LCP II .22lr - good
Rugers are fine for what they are
Their revolvers are also tough and easy to work on.
I've had several rugers. Couple of single six, ranch rifle another ranch rifle(yes, I hard-headed and stuid) and lastly one of those American bolts in 308, all horrible accuracy. There all gone, I took a beating on those boat anchors.
what kind of ammo did you use
My American Predator in .308 is very accurate even with cheap ass aguila rounds.
A better thread would be what you regret selling. I have no regrets.
>what you regret selling.
Every gun I ever sold, except a Jennings J-22 and a Bryco 9. Both of those guns were total dog shit.
I'll sell any gun that doesn't work every single time, or if it doesn't like the bullets I like to buy. I sold a 1969 win94 in 44 magnum because it had a too-long extractor that made it a bitch to open after firing, and a 100 year old colt 38 with a too-large barrel that leaded up real fast from my favorite mbc bullets, I regret nothing. On the 44 I removed the extractor and filed it down twice, but didn't take enough off and doing it a third time would have jacked it up because my punch didn't quite fit the roll pins holding the extractor in the bolt. I did try to keep it. Now that I think of it, the barrel was also too thin and it flexed too much, which made the magazine tube jump out of the parts holding it in, I had to replace the screw on the front barrel band when it got bent from shooting. I guess that puts it in the same class as your jennings, total dog shit. I traded it for a colt 1903 with a balky trigger, which I am also going to get rid of because my other one works better.
First time I handled one of these I was shocked how heavy it was
Thing is made of lead
Really? You saw that plastic brick with the comically small mag sticking out and no alarm bells started ringing?
It was it's potential that interested me.
DA38 derringer, see picrelated.
* has that trigger pull from your nightmares where you keep pulling but the gun doesn't fire
* literally doesn't fire, it's defective and sometimes just won't
* when it does fire, you wish it hadn't
* two shots is all it takes to give you a weeks-long flinch
* inaccurate as fuck, can't reliably hit a paper target at seven feet
I should have known not to buy one when the first one I looked at turned out to have unrifled barrels. They simply forgot to rifle them. No, I'm not joking.
Those guns are for hookers to slip under there stockings, if they're going to be used it going to be 1-3 feet at the most but most likely will never be discharged.
Looks pretty cool though
>forgot to rifle them
Got a barrel from combat armory like that last year.
I love mine, I do agree on the recoil, but that's expected with direct blowback.
It's weight though does have a silver lining, the extra mass helps with controlling recoil with the binary trigger.
That is very true. When I first bought mine, the idea was suppose to be a small hiking gun I can take while PrepHole but my buddie sold me his PTR MP5 a couple weeks later for a grand, after that the idea of the Ruger Charger pack gun vanished, the PTR took its place. Still a fun gun to take to the range.
My dream gun is an mp5, maybe that's my perfect pdw.
This wind chime kit. (TacDaddy) tec-9 rip off.
haven't been able to shoot it yet because it doesn't have any feed ramps.
they sent it with an undersized flash hider, so I'm glad I cant shoot it.
i probably need to just reprint the receiver in a different orientation or better settings as the safety is super tight, the mag insert stop is shit, as well as the release. and the buttstock pic rail is fucked.
also mad that i got the 8in version. its heavy and stupid.
it lives on the shelf of shame, which i neglect heavily as you can see from the heavy dust.
I'm absolutely shocked that isn't of higher quality.
IO AK
it actually worked just fine, but I bought it before I knew better
I've owned around 50+ guns and the only one I ever regretted getting was the PSL. Piece of fucking shit.
A buddy owns a PSL. Reliable, but maybe a 3 MOA gun on a good day.
You wanted a bag gun and you didn't buy a sub2k or a 10/22 takedown?
Sub2k is shit, even with the upgrades. Some ppl want more oof than .22
>SUB2000
cool idea. had one and sold it. you can’t fold it with an optic on so it’s useless
>muh CQB version
still don’t care for it. it’s funny seeing gun store employees hawk them with the classic bullshit of
>it’s a survival gun
Did you not read my post to the OP that said to go with Sub2k? I literally said it was shit, even with upgrades.
>you can’t fold it with an optic on so it’s useless
They make a mount so you can.
>muh CQB version
Wtf you talking about?
>it’s a survival gun
It can be, but I don't want it to be.
Either way, go to bed anon, you're drunk.
I’m not reading shit nagger
So your opinion is worthless. Away, you noguns eurofag.
The only gun I fucking hate and regret buying is an ancient New Haven 600 (rebadged Mossberg 500) off of tardbroker. I didn't pay much for it, and thought I was getting a good deal, only to get it and find out that Bubba must have used this retarded thing as a club since the barrel is bent, and the slide is bound up and bent slightly where it goes into the receiver. Piece of shit jams a lot (and no I'm not short stroking it), and has basically been fucked with a ton in some stupid ways when you look at it. It sucks ass to shoot...I never would have guessed that I would be saying my KMart 151 12 gauge would be simultaneously more fun to shoot and way more accurate in trap and skeet.
I don't buy guns online nor do I meet people on PrepHole or I would give you whatever you paid for them.
>PTR 91 and FAL
I bought in 2016 to register as assault weapons for the Cali ban. Didn't really like either though. Ended up selling the PTR.
>HK SL8
Was a total impulse buy. Nothing wrong with it but it isn't worth 1600
>Beretta 92fs
Got a good deal on one so I jumped. But it's a meh design, SIGs are better SA/DA guns
>CZ75
Same as above
>FR8
Bought it thinking it would be my go to shooting milsurp, a fairly modern rifle in 7.62. Hated it. Least fun gun I have ever shot besides snub nose revolvers.
>CZ jaguar
Nice but don't have a spot to plink where it would be very fun, and have a million .22s
