I've been able to navigate a nogunz friend into having a 1911, shotgun AND an AR in California with all regulations, taxes and fees for less than $1000 out the door.

There are no excuses. Acceptable quality guns are cheaper than they have ever been.

That is being a good friend, but Californians don't deserve guns.

      >completely ignores ammo
      >ignores magazines
      >ignores range fees
      >ignores targets
      >ignores earpro
      >ignores the spiral of consumerism with guns where you never stop telling yourself you need better shit

It is a dirt cheap hobby compared to cars or traveling.

With proper research and budgeting, you can easily get into firearms here in the US notwithstanding certain states without breaking the bank.

While certain avenues like milsurp are no longer viable there are still plenty of options for poorgays. How many times has that thread with the poverty tier guide been posted on this board?

      >How many times has that thread with the poverty tier guide been posted on this board?
Too many times. It is everyday now. You can figure out a good place to begin with a modicum of research.

      I agree with you but
      >$299 ($199) cucked 22lr M9 clone
      come on
I never understood the point of .22 LR clones of higher caliber weapons, especially in the modern day when new production guns of acceptable quality are cheaper than ever.
I just feel like a purpose-built .22 pistol or rifle would be a lot more enjoyable to shoot and own than a needlessly oversized and heavy gun that is mechanically completely different from what it is trying to copy.

      >I never understood the point of .22 LR clones of higher caliber weapons
They are fun. Not all of them are bad. A M&P 15-22 combines all of the fun of a .22lr rifle with all of the fun of an AR with 1/10 of the price of ammo.

        >cheap hobby compared to cars or traveling

This. Although, Democrats are really pushing to circumvent outright bans by deciding to use taxation and insurance schemes to start forcing the lower and middle classes out of firearm ownership similar to cars.

Traveling is also only cheap if you are traveling with big groups of people who split costs. It’s why 90% of people use travel pics on dating apps. You have a group of people to pose with and look like you have a life outside your job or introverted hobbies.

          > Democrats are really pushing to circumvent outright bans by deciding to use taxation and insurance schemes to start forcing the lower and middle classes out of firearm ownership similar to cars

This is a blistering hot take. It is okay if you disagree with it. Honestly, in a purely theoretical scenario, I would be okay with something like that. Charge $10k-$20k for a "firearms license" and let people do whatever they want with that after they pay the cost of it. It would filter out all of the riff raff while letting people who actually give a shit about guns have some fun or allowing the people who have something worth defending defend themselves.

          >inbf muh human rights
          Poor people don't deserve rights.

Of course, a government as shitty and corrupt as ours would abuse something like that, so it is a non-stater.

I respect your hot take and see where you’re coming from when you take bad actors like criminals and extremists like the Socialist Rifle Association into account but here’s my two cents.

The point of such a scheme is not filtering out riff raff or even revenue generation. It’s the eventual marginalization and elimination of firearms ownership and firearms culture. The government is expecting you to adopt a boomer mindset where by the time the noose tightens and the 2A is gone, you’ll be dead and buried and thus it’s not your problem anymore.

The problem is that now your children and their children are worse off thanks to gate keeping. By voluntarily marginalizing the community, it becomes that much easier to starve and destroy in the long run and it’s no longer a matter of the gates closing but the whole thing being burnt to the ground.

            >poor people don’t deserve rights
I would ask you how much you personally make but that would be rather rude

posting a shitty umarex .22 version of a gun to prove that they're cheap is the equivalent of posting a $45,000 shithole house in Black personville, IL, USA to prove that houses are cheap

    that said
if you don't have the ability to scrape together $500 for a basic b***h glock (which you'll only have to buy once) plus like ~$300 every now and then for ammo, you're probably too much of a dirtbag to own a gun

My first gun was a rifle from an estate sale. It was $95 and I've fired it hundreds of times since then with no issue. This was in 2020 so not in the before times price wise.
I've also found pistols at estate sales for sub-$100 but they were in rough shape. Also, during Xmas sales .22lr Heritage revolvers are regularly around $100 each after a $30-40 rebate.

Those are umarex licensed copies with aluminum slides. You'd be better off with a used runger mk2.
