Good?

I'm not new to guns. I have a bit of spare cash and wanna buy "ze best handgün". I am thinking about this for some time now. I really like what they say about the Wilson combat edc x9. What do you guys think about it? Do you have any alternatives in mind?

    >ze best handgun
for what purpose? The best handgun for deep concealment is going to suck donkey dick for target shooting, and vice versa. Asking for the best gun is like asking for the best "vehicle", it all depends on what you want to do with it.

Yeah, I know. I tried to say that by putting it in quotation marks. Like the one gun to have, 2 get 2 know best. Maybe the one gun you would get if you could only have one. So a jack of all trades of sorts

        Get a glock lol

Yeah unfortunately this is the answer. Trust me, I started out by buying CZ SP01s, 1911s, Beretta 92Xs, HK p30s, etc. Finally I got a Glock 19, practiced with it, and realized that all the bullshit these other handguns offer mean nothing and I can shoot a Glock just as well. Glocks are superior in America in the same way as AR-15s: they have the best magazine interchangeablility, parts availability, trainers who shoot them well, optics cut options, your buddies all have them, least moving part therefore longest lasting (especially gen5 Glocks). Please do not make the same mistake as me, buy a Glock 19 and 5k rounds of 9mm. Shooting it, clean it, strip it, modify the frame with stippling and undercuts, buy 100 Glock mags, and get good. This is the best use of your money. Blogpost over

a jack of all trades gun that costs $2000 is going to be dogshit compared to four different $300 guns for specific purposes. money doesn't make a gun better, design makes a gun better, and the design you get with a $2000 gun is going to be in terms of very specific ergonomics and user interface and to a lesser extent build quality

a 'jack of all trades' gun is literally any compact polymer frame, full slide pistol that retails for ~$500, ideally one that is very common with good accessory support.

Every gun over $600 is a novelty gimmick or a gun with ergonomics that appeal to inexperienced shooters.

I don't know about "ze best" but it's definitely a really nice pistol. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

It coming with a fiber optic front sight instead of night sights is moronic.

I have this pistol and many others anon. Including a G19 and other high end carry/performance pistols. This is my daily carry.

Go to the store and finger frick it. See if you like it. It is the best feeling pistol in my hand, and the trigger is very light/crisp and has ruined all other guns for me. It is unironically almost like clicking a mouse.

The downside is the front fiber piece. If you try you can remove it. To fix you have to apply heat. The safety can also pinch your hand skin depending on how you hold it.

It is comparable in size and weight to the G19 and other popular carry guns. But it is made of metal which feels and sounds better IMO.

Check out a Stacatto before you buy this. I didn’t like the polymer coated frame they have so I went with the Wilson.

Aesthetics wise if you plan to mount a RDS, it looks a bit ugly. Up to you how much that matters.

    So many autistic responses.

Just buy your premium pistol for its self defense/combat effectiveness. If it does "well enough" in other areas then it makes little difference that TECKNICALLY you can buy a purpose built handgun for cheaper that's better suited for some niche usage, unless you want to turn it into a money sinking dedicated hobby. Because having the best pistol ever for target shooting is not going to save your life, so just get something that will and you can also use it for target shooting.

The EDC X9 is a 1911-ish platform made by a reasonably good manufacturer. From a standpoint of shooting performance, most people outside of diehard Glock fans or obsessive 1911 haters will admit that the 1911 platform is generally easier to shoot well and noticeably so. The EDC X9 and any other double stack like 2011 pattern handguns have inherently bigger grips though, this is relevant if you have smaller hands and would prefer thin grips on a 1911.

The EDC X9 does not come with an ambi safety to my knowledge, this may or may not be important for you. The one you posted doesn't have a rail, I would recommend buying one that does, because being able to make use of high performance WMLs is really just common sense. It comes with no optic cut, I believe Wilson has their own plate system if you're willing to shell out for the service.

Alternatives: Various 2011 semi-customs, or a straight up full custom 2011 project that costs $8k+ if you're truly willing to get "ze best handgun" that's a double stack 1911-ish type and price is no object.

Yeah I plan on fondling it before buying, but I don't think there is anywhere I could shoot it without buying first. I shot a few dozens guns I'd say. From small pistol to lmg. I work and I wanna buy some guns. It's not a crime is it? [...]

Mine has an ambi safety, so you can have it if you want it. Agree on getting one with rails though.

OP go figure out what you like before you spend money. DO NOT listen to fricking morons on this site. DO NOT listen to gun store salesmen. DO NOT listen to your dumb gun owning friends. Go handle things go shoot things, frick go buy a Glock 19 and shoot it for a year until you figure out why you want or need to spend $3,000 on a pistol. Just going out and sorting by highest price is the dumbest shit I can think of. What are you some new money daddy's boy, or you don't even know how to spend your own money?

It's the Budget Wilson option. I've had both prefer the older pre rebrand STI carry models. That said, I shoot my $450 G19 with swapped sights and a $150 trigger damn near as well. You'll be a better shooter if you spend $500 on a gun and $2500 on ammo that you practice with instead of $3000 on a gun. Not saying you shouldn't spend the money, I have, just that there's no such thing as a magic gun.

Never shot a Glock with a non oh trigger. How much better is it?
