Going up against a rifle with only a pistol in CQB

How much of a disadvantage does someone really have in a situation like this? If you have to go up against a mass shooter with an AR in close quarters and you only have your CCW with a spare mag, how bad are your odds? Is discrepancy in stopping power the main issue, ie getting shot by 9mm is a lot more survivable and easier to shrug off in the heat of combat than a 5.56 (depending on shot placement obviously). My fear is I could shoot him 2-3x center mass, he still has a few seconds to shoot back unless I got a lucky hit somewhere vital. If he hits me even once with 5.56 it’s going to be devastating even with poor shot placement

Just ask Elisjsha Dicken. He only had a glock yet me managed to land 8 shots out of 10 into a mass shooter. Position and shot placement, anon.

it was a springfield hellcat, it was a moving target at 40 yards, took all ten shots, 8 landed

I think thats wrong. He was using a stock G19.
4 shots at 40yds, all hits.
        4 more shots at 25yds, 2 shots at 7yds.

lets be real tho, elija was not being targeted by the shooter and almost certainly had a braced position to shoot from.

regardless, i think the most important thing to do is fire at the shooter. most of them don't expect ANY civilian resistance and will almost certainly panic and maybe even kys themselves. pinning them down also gives bystanders extra time to evacuate.

IIRC he wasn't braced, but walked toward the shooter as he fired.

If my memory serves correct, he advanced between strings of fire. He used a pillar to support his first 4 shot which were at ~40 yards, after that he moved up to around 20 yards or so where most, if not all of the remaining 6 rounds were fired.

Counter point Aaron Salter Jr, who died in the Buffalo grocery store mass shooting while confronting the sperg with a rifle.

Your case was more a shooting than it was an actual gunfight, which if you gotta be in that sorta circumstance, is a much better thing for you for fairly obvious reasons.

What this all proves is you need to be prepared for that situation where you're outgunned even harder. Your odds are shit, but I'll be damned if I'm going to lose. That will take effort.

Aaron aim and hit the shooters vest. You could have a single action .22 revolver and if you put a round into the shooters head it's game over. It is again all about position and shot placement. What is the scenario you're trying to paint? That you're going toe to toe with a shooter with no cover and nowhere to run? Even in that case it would all be about shot placement; hell even more so.

The point is that if you are not visible to the shooter your chances of becoming a hero is substantially increased but real pipe hitting shooters will have on comtacs and hear your fat ass fumbling with your ccw 50yds away, 360ing your ass on yo stupid ass forehead

If I'm not visible to the shooter I'm running away. I aint putting my life at risk. It isn't my job to be a hero. I don't want that hassle in my life.

You're at a disadvantage, anon, that's the reality. If the schizoid in question has plates it's even worse. I've thought about this a lot and he logical thing to do is probably still to retreat. BUT, unfortunately, I think if the alternative is a mass casualty event continuing, morality demands that an armed person intervene.

Dicken did it right. Shot placement is king, and do not be afraid to empty the mag as long as you're confident of hitting.

Your obligation is to yourself and your family.

My children will be financially secure from my savings and life insurance, well taken care of by family in the event of my early demise, and my wife will be every bit a capable mother in the event she would need to rise to the occasion. I hope you can say the same, for reasons that are far more likely than you losing a gunfight with a mass shooter (which will never happen).

It would suck anon. A lot. I dunno I'd rather prove myself a retard playing hero than walk away and have to look at a guy who did that in the mirror in the morning.

These hero fantasies are getting wild. You are far more likely to die from a heart attack from being obese than in a mass shooting. If you're at the point you need to ccw a folding SBR with you at all times you need a psychiatrist, not more guns. If you are in a shootout and you're outgunned then get the fuck outta there because you're not suddenly going to become john wick or jason bourne in the moment.

      >t. Someone who has never been in the shit.
As a normal human being I've been involved in five instances where using a CCW to defend others would have been justified and one of them ended with a victim being murdered. Just minding my own business, with a low risk middle class lifestyle. What I've learned is to never underestimate your day to day life and to be prepared for crazy shit to happen near you.

You can take better advantage of cover with a pistol and you're more maneuverable assuming you are fit enough to make use of it.

Depends, a competent one will drop you in an instant like Saint Gendron and that one black guy who kilt a cop behind a pillar or you get a total idiot with a gun running around

Its called getting the jump on the guy. You're failing the Don't Die Onion by playing Hero and trying to go toe to toe directly with the incel chimpout situation rather than trying to nick the guy when he's not looking at your or just ambush him. Most of these shooters aren't going to have the situational awareness of a SWAT door kicker so if you're determined you could probably pull it off as long as you're not being directly shot at.

Get a steel target and take it out to 50-100 yards. It’s not super easy, but it’s plenty doable especially with a dot.

Vertx bags are decent enough and I have the one pictured but fuck me if it isn't a giant flag for 'I've got gear and possibly a a broken down AR/AR pistol in here' for anyone paying attention.

The weapon is the least important aspect. Your position and the bad guys position and individual capabilities using said weapons matter way more than whether or not you have a rifle or a pistol.
