Is this like, some sort of causality/probability warp/blessing business? Like no matter what I do, even if I wander around some crappy area at night as a tourist or blithely go through grizzly bear country or whatever God's mysterious ways will work such that it so happens it'll never be an issue? In that case
    >Do you still carry? Why or why not?
No (if you mean concealed/open carry for defense, I'm assuming I'm still allowed to hunt). I'd trust God (both subjectively and objectively, like I trust God, but also if God wanted to mess with me nothing I can do about that either because it's God and just have to go with His ineffable plan). And even fairly pleasant CC is still weight, still something to be stolen, or cause trouble going through security or whatever else. Still costs money. And involves compromises vs pure fun plinking. I carry and train and make the compromises because I need to, not because I have any desire to be in such a situation in the first place. So if the greatest power in existence guarantees me instead that's way better than a defensive gun.

I'd still shoot, but I'd reorient completely towards fun or hunting.

I ask him whether or not he's capable of lying, then just assume he's lying anyway. After all, for an omnipotent and omniscient entity, arbitrarily allowing fate to play out without foreknowledge of the fated is tantamount to lying anyway. If he for some reason reveals my fate to me, it's unknowable whether or not he's playing games. I hate Black folk who play games, so I'd just continue doing what I'm doing.

    >or in defense of anyone else
Like this is crazy powerful, way better than a gun. Even if total war breaks out, all I need to do is stay safe at my house, and my family, neighbors, everyone around me I care about will all "just happen" to be fine. Mobs, militias, whatever will somehow never go after our village (or at least my section of it). Battles will all by chance happen elsewhere or not happen due to accidents/breakdowns, air/missile/drone strikes will somehow always be targeted away. Anything I might ever possibly need a gun for self-defense against automatically is shielded for the rest of my life would be a godly miracle alright.

      >thread full of psychopaths who scorn God's light
It's not """"God's light"""" that I """"scorn"""" (holy frick get over yourself) as much as it is the ability of a human being to sufficiently comprehend the existence of such a thing to a point where it can be distilled into words. I have no doubt that some sufficiently powerful force or even entity exists sufficient to be indistinguishable from God, but the nature of that thing is so far beyond our existence that it's completely incomprehensible.

Anon we're positing a scenario where a strongly super human being with reality manipulation powers directly contacts us. I'm an atheist, but I can still do game theory on theoretical scenarios, and in this one there is no "the Bible says so" involved. All doubt and "faith" is removed.

I give up concealed carry and start open carrying.

I'd still carry for the sake of exercising my rights.

Is it a fashion thing for you?

If God appears in front of me and tells me to ditch my guns I would since I would now know for sure the afterlife is legit and my current worries in life wont be a big deal. Or maybe I've gone full schizophrenia mode, in which case it may be good for me to stop carrying too.

      Very reasonable

I become a literal peace walker. Everywhere I go, the need to defend is eradicated. I travel war zones, head to cities in danger of attack and prevent it wholesale. I use my presence to bring in negotiators straight to the halls of the aggressors, safe in the knowledge none may harm them. I do my utmost to stop conflict world wide.

Jokes on you God did come down and tell me something about guns....it wasn't about giving them up I'm afraid....

    >Luke 22:36
35Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out without purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered. 36“Now, however,” He told them, “the one with a purse should take it, and likewise a bag; and the one without a sword should sell his cloak and buy one. 37For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about Me is reaching its fulfillment.”…

    >And than God said to his people 'Make sure ye get the Cold Hammer Forged barrel as much hood shit is still to come!" and the people said "AMEN!"

All you know is that you will never need to use a firearm to defend yourself or anyone else. This does not preclude that actually happening. All you will know is that if it does happen, it will have been unnecessary. This does mean that you can know, for certain, that you will never need to shoot someone, but it doesn't mention a bunch of other things that may happen, like needing to disembowel someone with your bare hands or something equally gruelling.
Of course, this would be slightly more likely if this was a Faustian bargain with a demon or somesuch, but since you have stated it is capital G, Judeo-Christian, YHWH, we can be certain it is the entity described in the Bible.
That said, God is very often seen to be openly hostile and/or cruel to those who refuse to abide by his rules or believe in him; being a godless atheist, I can surmise I'm firmly on his shitlist. So if I want this to end well, I'm probably going to have to convert. And hell, if he chose to speak directly to me, then that there is evidence enough to do that with conviction. So it's safe to say that my life has probably been 180'ed from unapologetic non-believer into a Christian scholar.

Also I'd probably not carry a gun after that, guaranteeing a pacifist solution to any problem I might make myself a part of. Of course, that "pacifist solution" might just be me fricking dying, but if God is real, and I convert, I can also guarantee a place in His eternal kingdom after death. So honestly, it's kind of a win.
Though my friends and close family might think I've gone totally insane. So maybe not as much of a win.

      Anonymous

Good deeper thinking from a different perspective.
      >Though my friends and close family might think I've gone totally insane. So maybe not as much of a win.
I think this would kind of work out. Converting and being a true believer and scholar who walks the walk doesn't mean having to be a preachy butthole about it or ever bring it up with others. Even if you now know (not merely believe) they'll be damned if they don't, but you can still be cool about it as the genuine best hope of converting them before they die. Also
      >more left family/friends
Likely to be more religious skeptical, but also more fine with "I'm giving up on carrying guns for defense", so kind of a balance if you aren't a jerk.
      >more right family/friends
Think you should carry, but will also respect religious conviction once they determine that you are serious not just posing. Probably happy if we aren't atheists anymore.

And I think what most people find most irritating about religionists is if they're jerks, or if they transparently are just picking out the pieces that are easy and let them get away with stuff while ignoring all the hard/risky/expensive bits. An atheist who converts after meeting god and actually takes the help-out parts seriously and lives the life and isn't a hypocrite is going to win respect, even if others don't agree.

if you had honestly read the old testament you'd know full well that God never once went back on his word. He fulfilled every promise he ever made in the text and He fulfilled it to the letter of his original claim.

      Anonymous

I've read the OT and everything God said and did was 100% justified.
What must be realized is that God wasn't speaking at some points, it's instead israelites doing the age-old practice of "acktually God said I can do bad things because I just can, trust me bro", I.E. abusing religion to suit one's own agendas.

if you had honestly read the old testament you'd know full well that God never once went back on his word. He fulfilled every promise he ever made in the text and He fulfilled it to the letter of his original claim.

      >He fulfilled every promise he ever made in the text and He fulfilled it to the letter of his original claim.
Technically untrue, but not in that way. God withdraws his promises and good graces when men break their end of the deal, which should honestly be expected because why should I honor a deal that the other guy isn't honoring?
The OT is full of that, during the Exodus the Israelites constantly shit-talk God and wish they were still slaves in Egypt, even as God literally drops food on them from the sky daily, protects them from their foes, and practically wipes their asses for them. He finally curses them to wander the desert for a generation after they attempt to lynch Moses for leading them to the Promised Land.

Is there a biblical reference to drugs? I was under the impression that they arent listed at all in the bible, unlike the weird dietary restrictions some faiths still keep.

        Anonymous

I think it's more that being addicted to harder shit, and the stuff people do because of that, involves a bunch of other sins. If you're controlled in moderation in a contemplative manner I think you'd be fine, but the problem is that isn't how most drugs go, even potheads end up on the sloth/gluttony routes, losing inhibitions and being a party animal probably is going to hit a bunch of stuff (indeed lust etc is arguably the entire point of it for a lot of people), etc. Having a morning cup of coffee, a beer or glass of wine for dinner? Not a problem. Become an alcoholic and start beating people, neglecting family/community, and letting your life go to shit? Problem. It's just that if you use heroin or something you're likely going to have a bit of a trickier time than a glass of wine. Also the whole
        >Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
thing. Bible doesn't declare we should all use drugs either, and according to a lot of interpretations we should be trying to obey Earthly authorities on laws within their jurisdiction, so breaking the law for our own pleasure would be sinful. If the law declared we should all commit mortal sins that'd be different, but if the Bible says nothing either way then it's not about our time here but the kingdom thereafter.
