Glocks choking in dusty conditions according to Larry Vickers

?si=ISUhmXcXQ_9oURPo&t=1050

Vickers says Glocks without grip plugs choke in dusty conditions. Is this legit, or is he just saying that because he sells Glock accessories?

The thing is, Delta did end up adopting Glocks, first .40 and then they eventually switched to 9mm. I've seen photos of some with grip plugs and some without.

I remember some book by an ex SEAL team 6 guy who retired prior to GWOT. Not exactly sure when it was supposedly taking place, but he specifically mentioned they were carrying ".40 caliber Glock 17's". Never was sure if he just meant Glock 22's or some weird conversion barrel shit.

he is probably juse using 'glock 17' as a general term for the 'duty' sized glocks.

was it this guy who just died by chance? I think his book was called SEAL Team Six: Memoirs of an Elite Navy SEAL Sniper

Naa wasn't him. Coincidentally enough I did meet Wasdin once though. That was a weird fucking day. Didn't realize he was dead.

Anyways, it's been probably 15 years since I read the book, I think it was Dennis Chalker's book "One Perfect Op". If it wasn't him, it had to be Chuck Pfarrer in "Warrior Soul: The Memoir of a Navy SEAL" definitely one of those two.

Maybe some have bigger holes, this guy seems to but mine is almost sealed up with flashing. The hole is small enough that when I cover the butt hole with a finger and try to blow air in there it strains my cheeks.

I feel like it would be much easier to get more sand in the rails and trigger housing through the gaps in the slide. Then again the presence of carbon/powder particles in webm related means clearly there's a path between inside and outside through this hole, since obviously that residue didn't come up from below.

There is actually a hole, I have an OD framed gun and it’s easier to see, also when I shined a light into the hole, it was pretty dusty, gonna have to rate this as plausible.

I got a VickersTactical(TM) grip plug and I like it. If anything it also works as a funnel to insert your mag, so it doesn't accidentally catch on the back part of the magwell.

It's worth it for your primary gun, but no point for your range toys. I think newer versions also come with a glock tool, which is nice.

  11. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

I heard delta runs their 416's dry because of the brown out conditions of a helo insert that would cause an oiled bcg to cake up, and the carry a oil container in their pistol grip, so they might do it with their pistols too

      Anonymous

That's the exact opposite of what they do. Several former operators have said guns run better lubed even in dusty conditions

      Anonymous

There's an old operator write up that mentions what you're talking about. Maybe it was Kyle Lamb, idr.

But dude was saying they would no lube because when they were banging back to back to back ops and running back to home base they would be too tired to properly clean their guns so they'd just hit them with pressurized air, put the gat away, and rack out.

        Anonymous

That was Chuck Pressburg. He has a habit of saying things that aren't true. Or at least things that are different from what every other former Delta Operator with a public platform has said.

Doesn’t that fly in the face of everything since keeping your main tool of your trade in working condition, more so since it’s life or death, really important?
