I'm pretty sure the phrase "game changer" has been used in a tongue in cheek fashion ever since Arsenal used it to advertise the SAM7SF over ten years ago. MAC is just using it for clickbait. I haven't even watched the video, but I'm 90% sure he shits on Glock for not innovating since he's done that before.

I have large hands and palm the full size ones like a b***h. It's almost impossible for me not to. A p226 fits my hands much better as does the Glock 19's. The Glock 17, Glock 43 and many of their other guns do not. I think you're going to have a hard time making a case broadly, for most shooters, that the Glock grips are good, especially when you have modular guns like the p320 and other excellent grips like on the PPQ.

    >A full-size 9mm pistol with a 17-round capacity and the Glock MOS optics mounting system, the Glock 47 is similar to the Glock 17 MOS – almost identical, on paper. But the Glock 47 has a few tricks up its sleeve. Using a Glock 45 frame, the Glock 47 has the ability to also accept Glock 19 slides. Moreover, the Glock 47 slide is compatible with Glock 19 frames, meaning that the G47 gives you unofficial access to the long-awaited factory Glock 19L “long slide.”

Jesus Christ, Glock. Just make it the standard for the G17. You wasted an entire model number on a change so minute that one could not tell the difference if the slide engravings were taped over.

Release a magnum pistol you fricking homosexuals! If a Glock 21 can handle .40 Super, you can make a round to compete with 7.5FK and your Apple-tier fanboys WILL keep it alive.

Just like they kept .45 GAP alive lmao. No one actually wants these huge magnum rounds besides several morons on this board, they serve no practical purpose in a handgun.

          Anonymous

          >.45 GAP
it's always brought up, but I find it the perfect example of Glock finally getting shit on for their dedication to mediocrity. Nobody bought .45 GAP because it was a slightly shorter .45 ACP, which was already on the way out and already had a better option in place with .40 S&W. If Glock made something unique, ANYTHING unique, it would sell a million units within the year.
          >they serve no practical purpose in a handgun
Pistol cartridge design has recently advanced to the point where you can achieve rifle wounding effects with the correct cartridge. 2500 FPS out of a Glock 20 has been achieved and that's not even the limit. Make a 45k PSI 10mm necked down to take .32 ACP bullets and make it fit in a "compact" 10mm frame. Maybe also finally release a carbine that takes it too.

Frick, the rotating barrel design on the Glock 46 is a perfect candidate for all of this, but I'm fine with them taking baby steps on that one, since it's the most unique thing Glock has done since 1982.

On that note, why the frick hasn't Glock made a 5.7 pistol yet? Fricking Poorgay State Armory of all companies was able to beat them to the punch on that.

                Anonymous

5.7 pistols are inherently more expensive to make because of the higher chamber pressure. Glock likely performed an analysis and determined that it would be too expensive to produce and maintain the profit margins they hold on their other guns. Additionally, it would confuse the law enforcement market and take sales away from their more profitable 9mm pistols. Poorgay armory sells novelty items + garbage. They're not concerned with cannibalizing their own sales.

That argument might make sense if Glock didn't spend years throwing money at their moronic .45 GAP round that never went anywhere.
Their whole business model is selling the exact same pistol in various sizes and calibers, so why not a caliber that people actually want now?

                >Their whole business model is selling the exact same pistol in various sizes and calibers, so why not a caliber that people actually want now?
I worked at a gun store for a while. 9mm Glocks sold 20:1 compared to any other chambering. The 17 and 19 outsold all of the other models by an enormous margin. Glock makes most of their money from the top 5 SKUs. Everything else just generates interest in the brand and satisfies existing customers. A 5.7 pistol is probably too low margin for them to bother. They don't want to not sell a 17 with higher margin by selling someone some 5.7 pistol. Additionally, they'll sell less 5.7 pistols than 9mm pistols because they're more expensive to the consumer.
                >Lower volume
                >Lower margin
                >Confuse agency buyers
There's no business case for 5.7 pistols outside of satisfying novelty. Glock likely hasn't adventured into 5.7 pistols because they learned from 45GAP.

5.7x28 is a good full-auto PDW cartridge, but it has .380 energy in a pistol and only breaks 2k FPS with .17 HMR class bullet weight.

The key to making a more potent pistol cartridge is to both make it go very fast and carry most of that energy more than an inch into the target. You need it to go over 2000 FPS to make it hit hard, and it needs to weigh at least 50gr while not turning into dust on impact. That speed does the damage, and the weight holds onto the speed long enough to deliver that damage further into the target where the important stuff is.

Right now, we have a couple things that only approach that criteria:
              >9x25 Dillon
2k FPS flat with 90gr is just a bit too slow, plus it needs a 6" barrel to even achieve that.
              >7.5 FK
SHOULD be able to do 60gr at 2400, but the morons in charge of making it assured you could only use proprietary bullets, so we're stuck with 90gr meme copper solids making it identical to 9x25
              >.454 Casull and .460 S&W
2200-2400 FPS with 185gr bullets will make it look like you set off a tiny grenade inside whatever you hit, but recoil, capacity, and gun size makes them less than optimal as a defensive weapon.

We basically need a round that can do in 5" what 5.56 does in 10" that fits in a concealable gun that holds a decent amount of ammo.

                Anonymous

We need a high-psi cartridge. Thermodynamic efficiency in guns is a linear improvement proportional to pressure.

Funny enough, Glock is probably the only company out there that could make a cartridge like that and have it be an overnight success.

Bullet doesn't do its job right. Fragments way too early and gets shit penetration outside of the tiny copper disk that makes up its base. Rifle bullets get away with it by staying together for a couple of inches before fragmenting.

                Anonymous

Generally JHP projectiles suck at super high velocities unless they were designed from the ground up to handle those types of loads. Then there are those Lehigh solid copper screwdriver bullets that have insane penetration but no expansion.

                Anonymous

All that's needed is a harder lead alloy in the core. See: Critical Duty. Lehigh XDs are neat in theory, but I'd prefer good old grenading piece of lead and copper over the high velocity power washer Lehigh makes.

From my amateur analysis, the bullet is hollow point to cut weight down, not for terminal effectiveness.

The only reason to make fast bullet is for terminal effect. It wasn't made to pen armor even though it's really good at that.

Changing the subject a bit, I'm 90% sure Flux is going to present their Heavy chassis at Shot Show this year. I'll be really interested in that if Sig makes a longer threaded barrel for the P320 Xten. I know 6.5" threaded barrels for the Glock 40 exist, but for some reason only the P320 version of the Flux Raider has a fixed optics mount.

Stoppan powah is the new meta for civilian carry since there are Ring cameras and shit everywhere now, and magdumping 17 rounds of lol9mm into a criminal looks bad to the laypeople who will be on a jury deciding your fate. Why do you think all the big names in the industry are hopping on the 10mm bandwagon this year? The "10mm is for bears" meme has always been a euphemistic way of avoiding the reason behind it just like the zombie apocalypse craze from 10 years ago.

            Anonymous

A 10mm is not going to magically drop someone in their tracks, you still need good shot placement. It’s just not a popular round in the real world so there’s very little data/videos of it in use. I’ve watched thousands of shootings over the years, most of them end in less than 5 shots. The only people I see magdumping are usually cops.

              Anonymous

Speaking of cops you ever see that one vid where it's a guy running away from 2 cops in a trailer park and the to be shot suspect has a 22 AR pistol and a 40? He gets shot and just starts rolling on the ground while shit just comes out of his pockets.

              Anonymous

Cops also have qualified immunity, so it behooves them to magdump. The xoomer who shot the robber in the Houston taco shop the other day is about to get fricked over because he magdumped and delivered a coup de grace.
              >muh shot placement
That's nice but real life doesn't have Fallout 3 V.A.T.S. that lets you target muggers' vital organs with pinpoint accuracy. 9mm has its place, but the possibility that it can be deflected by the ribs, sternum, and skull of an attacker is a genuine concern.

                Anonymous

Pretty sure he only shot around 5 times, what’s going to frick him over is the very last shot where he walks over to the guy, stands over him, and executes him with a shot to the head. A 10mm to the guts might not instantly incapacitate someone, much like 9mm. If you’re already hitting the upper thoracic area 9mm is good enough and you can have more shots on target faster.

If Glock actually sold slides and frames it might be a big deal. But you're basically still fricked into buying two whole Glocks just so you can mix the pieces around. And the differences are so small who cares? Wow, you can make the grip half an inch longer or half an inch shorter? You can make the slide half an inch longer or half an inch shorter? Only a Glock fanboy is going to care.

People have always liked customizing and personalizing their guns. Sig just figured out a way to optimize that for handguns while glocktards are still "stippling" their frames with Bic lighters and coat hangers.

Doesn't make Glocks new Glock a big deal. The 320 and 365 are actually modular. Sig doesn't make you buy two whole guns just so you can swap the slides around. You can use the same FCU in whatever configuration you want, even in different calibers. And even then, it is hardly novel. Lone Wolf had already made slide adapters that let people do the same thing.

Yup, my duty gun is a VP9, been using VP9s since their release to replace our aging Glocks and USPs in inventory. Still have to get our holsters custom made by RDR Gear. Safariland is the worst because they make the best holsters, but you might as well not even bother with them if you don't have a Glock or P320. Their options for other guns are extremely limited, and usually aren't even compatible with things like red dots or WML that everyone uses now.

So you have to buy three Glocks to get four different configurations? As far as I'm aware Glock doesn't sell any of the slides or frames separately. So someone has to buy a G45, a G19 and a G47 to free those parts up and swap them around.

This should've just replaced the Glock 17 so that they can make Glock 17, 19, and 45s with the same recoil assembly. These Three models are at least 70% of their sales. IMO the Glock 45 is the standard for full-size and the 19 is the standard for compact.

One would hope that they figure it out by Gen 6. It would simplify manufacturing.

        They could have:
        >9mm double stack - full size, compact slide, compact grip and slide. Only differing parts are the barrel, slide, and grip length.
        >9mm 1.5 stack - full size, compact slide. Only differing parts are the barrel and slide length.
There's 95% of their sales in as few parts as possible. All the other shit is specialty low volume runs. Makes sense to me. If they could make the 34 slide and barrel work with the 19 recoil assembly then even better.

It's a game changer if you're a very large law enforcement department as it simplifies parts and maintenance if you have both full size and compact pistols in your fleet. The G47 was made specifically for US Customs and Border Protection because they wanted to have more parts commonality in their pistols.

Makes absolutely zero sense for a private buyer, but it's likely being brought onto the wider market to target blue label sales to smaller departments who don't have the infrastructure to make custom orders to Glock.

It makes the same amount of sense for the civilian market. I only have Glock 19, and 45s. I would be interested in a 17C that takes the same parts as my 45s and 19. I've worn out the recoil spring on my 19 and USPSA 45. The parts commonality would be nice.

I have always been a huge Glock fanboy but ever since the 42 and 43 came out I have been more and more wary of them.

The Glock 47 was only created for the customs and border patrol contract because the contract said the medium and full size guns had to share a certain % of parts. Making a G17 that uses a G19 RSA (the G47) meant it fulfilled that. That is the ONLY REASON this pile of shit gun was invented.

MOS is dumb. Red dots are dumb. Underlug means it's easier to push out of battery if it is pushed against someone/something.

If they go over to MOS only guns I will switch to another brand of pistols. I am about done with Glock. 43x/48 are garbage too, didn't even pass FBI reliability tests to be issued. When you shrink down a semi auto recoil operated gun it gets less reliable, and these guns are barely operating on the edge of working as it is before people put a huge fricking red dot on them and mess up the speed of the slide.

Dont worry Gaston, I got this for you
    >Glock 19 = Glock 19
    >Glock 45 = Glock 19X
    >Glock 47 slide on 19 frame = Glock 19L
    >Glock 47 = Glock 19XL
2 frames to manufacture, 2 slides to manufacture, 4 guns to sell

I will never buy a Glock unless it’s the Glock 46. That’s the only Glock I will ever possibly own.
