Glock 19 is the undisputed champion

Glock 19 is hands down the best and undisputed handgun for use in self defense situations and home break ins.

There is literally no other handgun i would rather have beside my bed if somebody broke into my home at night.

Is it, tho ? I picked G45 instead of G19 because big hands. Still, I kinda regret knowing I could go G19 + talon 17 rounds mags and keep 15 rounders for CC. CCing a full size grip is less comfy overall.

why not just get the 17? seems like a pointless compromise

Whole idea was : a single do-it-all handgun, including MOS and barrel threading to go suppressed. G19 grip was weirdly small, but G17 threaded was a little too long suppressed. So G45 it was. But now I know I could've tweak G19's grip with extended talon and all to emulate G45/G17 grip. Still, G45 is very comfy to shoot, very well balanced, more confortable than 19 and even 17. I can't figure why, but it was self-evident when I shot all of three in a row.

It's a boring but good carry gun, which is fine, but home defense? If you're using a handgun as your home defense nightstand gun, then there is no real upper limit on how big you can go because you don't need to conceal it, thus you can do a lot better than a Glock 19. An FNX 45 holds as much ammo as a Glock 19 does in .45, and it can be upgraded to shoot .45 super or .460 Rowland if you really need to drop grizzly bears, a Glock 40 gets you 10mm, or get that Keltec monstrosity that takes P90 mags (assuming it's reliable).

Using a handgun for home defense is moronic. You would be better served in every way by an AR-15. Inb4 some moron says “b-but what if my bullet goes through a wall” as if 9mm is going to be stopped by 2-4 layers of drywall.

        You can suppress a rifle

          Anonymous

Name a few caliber rifles that while suppressed do not induce a mach 1 shockwave. It's pointless to put a silencer on any length 5.56, 300 blackout is one of them, but then how am I supposed to carry that everywhere with me in my own home. I don't like the idea of lugging a rifle with me when I use the restroom and shower and eat food and play games and sleep.

I support using 45acp suppressed for home defense. If only they made tiny electronic ear buds for shooting guns, I could wear them all day and have my rifle with me at all times.

            Anonymous

Imagine being more concerned about using subsonic ammunition to protect your hearing than using a caliber that’s far less likely to immediately stop the threat before they have a chance to retaliate. If you’re autistic enough to carry a firearm in your home at all times, you’re autistic enough to throw a pistol brace on a short barreled AR-15 and carry it around with you.

              Anonymous

That's dumb, using a sbr ar15, just use a suppressed .45 to defend your home.
              Hearing damage is permanent.

45acp is faster at killing a hog.
Source, I've seen a hog take an entire magazine of 5.56 and still was alive screaming, I've seen .45 drop a deer in one shot and a hog in one shot.
It's smarter to use a .45 for home defense. You can Google a lot of photos of people who survive 5.56, but the same can't be said for getting shot with .45. Even SF uses .458 socom because it works better than 5.56 at close range.

                Anonymous

You’re not only wrong, you’re moronic. Pistol calibers are statistically far worse at stopping a person immediately and killing them in any length of time.

That's dumb, using a sbr ar15, just use a suppressed .45 to defend your home.
                Hearing damage is permanent.

Death from the bullet of a man who hasn’t yet bled out is also permanent.

                Anonymous

I've seen it with my eyes, one shot drops to deer and hog with .45acp. Can't say the same for a 5.56 dropping a deer and hog instantly.

                Anonymous

That’s because you’re a shit shot. .223 is considerably more likely to kill than any common handgun cartridge, all else being equal.

Then you can do the same with .223

The marginal risk of partial hearing loss is not more important than preventing an intruder from retaliating. A person could easily kill you in the amount of time it takes to bleed out from a handgun caliber.
