Am I retarded for spending ~2k on an FAL? Is it a good gun? Will be my first gun period, although growing up I shot a decent amount with friends and family. Getting it from a buddy, so I don't think I'm getting fucked on price point or anything.

I have one and it’s my favorite gun. A 21 inch barrel has no more recoil than a 16in ar. That and you get more power from m80 than anything an Ak or ar 15 can do. It’s heavy and if you carry it often you will get aesthetic
gonna go innawoods with buddies in a couple months time. rn im fairly fit but im excited to do so, should be a fun time and since im good at camping (eagle scout) ill just have to worry about keeping up on the gun shit side.
Ammo price isnt an issue for me, and I'm figuring you're right on about the ammo being better (obviously since its bigger itll have more stopping power, right?)
You don't have to worry about anything, just don't sweep anybody. Your fieldcraft, orienteering, and all other outdoor training exceeds Ranger school. Rifle merit badge? OA?
Not op but you’re a sad person.
If it says Century on it you are getting ripped off.
Generally speaking, they don't like steel cased ammo. But that's not really a problem with 7.62x51. Like said, if it says "CENTURY" anywhere on the gun, it is a huge ripoff. DO NOT BUY IF IT SAYS CENTURY OR CENTURY ARMS ON THE GUN.
My century works perfectly
But I had to return the first one back and get a new one
I would never buy another one
When I bought mine it was 400 bucks
That's understandable. I would be surprised if they went for less than 800 now. Glad you got lucky. What was the issue with the first one?
no you dumb nagger he's talking about century FALs in FAL thread. Does the FAL look like an AK to you?
rock in mag is rock in mag retard git gud no guns
you implying that the wasr-10 is a rip off, post guns
this looks like a l1a1 by Enfield or Fazakerly
Semi Auto from factory and better accuracy due to tighter fits (no auto)
overall the better rifle for recreational use
and that bitch takes both inch and metric mags
doesnt interchange with other fal parts afaik tho
>better accuracy due to tighter fits
Not really, plus the SLR rear sight diopter is bigger
>and that bitch takes both inch and metric mags
Depends heavily on the specimen in question, mine will only feed reliably with one metric mag
>doesnt interchange with other fal parts afaik tho
Quite a few, actually, notably not the buttstock however. The SLR dust cover has tabs so they won't fit into metrics but vice versa is fine
Why don't we have any inch pattern grip/stock support? What is preventing aftermarket?
Inch FAL here.
Mags work, handguards work, barrels work, bolt handles work, bolts work, some break levers work it mainly depends on if yours is horizontal or vertical.
A major difference between a good fal and bad fal is their feed ramps.
Dogshit feed ramps are referred to as a unibrow, just a single surface lip that you hope guides the round into chamber.
The goated reliable feed ramp is called a Widows peak, which it's just that. Two divots that indivually guide a round from mag to chamber.
Here's the kicker, its by country NOT by metric v inch. Before you buy ANY fal, verify which feed ramp your lower has.
>the SLR rear sight diopter is bigger
You are only retarded for owning 1 FAL
and not buying 2 or 3 Anon
I have an L1A1 that I bought in 2001, I will buy a parafal next year
>Getting it from a buddy, so I don't think I'm getting fucked on price point or anything.
Need pics of the exact guns and a list of any attachments that come with it, there can be a pretty wide range of prices on the used market but a new FAL is 1500 to 2k depending on how much DSA feels like charging for any particular model
t. Bought a tacticool para on an imbel recvr for 1350 back in... fuck me, 2015
Why are they so expensive in the US ?
For once, those gun are really cheap in Europe.
In France you can easily get L1A1 in perfect state for around 800€. And 5 years ago it was 600€.
Can't Americans import huge stock from british army in falklands like we did ?
They really made importers jump through hoops to bring in foreign mil-surp weapons, and we like them all. I really prefer your guns to stay in your countries where you can have at them. How hard is it to get ammo, can you bootleg it in from the East?
Ok that's sucks.
We have the opposite problem, american guns are really expensive to get in europe, often about 2,5 times the price...
And for ammo yes I often buy east germany ammo stocks, it was like 65cts of € the bullet which was a good price for nice FMJ ammo.
If you can afford it and have realistic expectations for it (accuracy, reliability, modularity), definitely go for it. Keep in mind ammo is going to be expensive, but that's an overrated factor IMO since firing a mag of .308 is way more fun than a mag of 5.56 or 9mm.
Semiauto L1A1s are considered machine guns according to the ATF IIRC, and there's only one company making decent FALs in America.
It is DSA ? There is some DSA FALs here in Europe, but of what i've heard from people that got them, they were really pissed of with the quality compared to L1A1.
And when they first got imported they were like 3000-3500€ euros and people were hyped AF thinking they would be good guns, but they all ended selling them for 1500€
I've also heard that the best DSA FALs were the 1st ones when they still used some parts made in Austria.
idk the quality of the guns getting out of factory atm.
Yeah DSA isn't high end and they've definitely had QC fuckups, but from what I hear they're good now and the receiver I built my G1 on was perfect.
Be a man amongst men. Don’t settle for DSA or listen to half of the baseless statements in this thread unless they post their FAL.
Dsa is just fine. Fn said they were just as good if not better than the originals. Anyone telling you different is just coping about something they either can’t afford or overspent on.
Good luck finding real (not plastic) magazines for it.
came here to say this. Unless you get magpul or c products to make new mags, the FAL is not viable. It's a real shame too because Rhodesian larp is the best larp.
