    AUG

Second this, any AUG is incredible.
Trigger is fine, but if you really hate bullpup triggers, get a 2020 Precision. It's practically drop-in.

Yall are really tempting me. Should I go with the standard magwell or AR mags?

          Anonymous

Either is a win. NATO version gives you universal compatibility, including both STANAG steel and Magpul M3s, but IMO the thorough build quality of the waffle mags beats that of any Magpul, especially if you like the aesthetic. Extremely durable too, if not outright more so- so it's really a matter of ubiquity vs quality to me.

If you go with the latter, get some 42-rounders you can before they get banned or restricted in the future.

What surefire you got on there? What muzzle device do you have? I'm

Ah. I was in your situation once, anon. I wen't with the Steyr AUG and I am very glad I did.

        >iconic rifle, first of it's kind
        >looks cool as shit
        >has a built in folding foregrip
        >barrel comes out in a few seconds for easy cleaning
        >mags are see-through waffles
        >accurate (getting just over 1.5" groups with shit ammo at 100 yards)
        >reliable (no failures in 500+ rounds)
        >ergonomic (feels good and balances well towards the rear
        >fun manual of arms compared to AR-15
        >gun breaks down easy into nice components

It's not without it's flaws. It is expensive but still very nice. If it came with a better trigger for the price then it would be breasts. The trigger isn't bad for shooting though. Even though it's bad in a technical sense, I still don't have problems with it getting very good groups. It gets the job done better than it feels is a good way to put it. If you're shooting not for groups, but for normal use you won't even think the trigger is bad.

Anyway I rambled on enough. I've got to get the muzzle device on mine installed so I can throw a suppressor on it. Another downside is that it's pretty loud. A good step up above a traditional AR-15 since the chamber is near your face, so you get a good ping instead of "throooong" like you do with a buffer tube AR-15. The barrel closer to your face doesn't help either I suppose.

      Amen to the XCR

Owning both: if you just want 5.56 or x39, go Bren. But if you want more caliber conversions (or, like I did, a 300 + 6.5 Grendel one day), go XCR. I really like both. Stock polymer lower on the Bren and it’s super light

I sure hope it's a well rounded collection.
If you want a roller delayed blowback the CETME Model Ls built by Marcolmar runs for like $1300-1500. They say PMAGs don't work in it, but I don't own any so I've never tried. I use Duramags, but any steel or aluminum magazines should work except original Spanish ones ironically enough
C93s are way cheaper, but I can't with confidence recommend anything built by Century based on what I've heard about their C308s. They also use proprietary instead of STANAG magazines.
I was gonna say if you wanted a bullpup you could get an RDB, but apparently AUGs, M17s, and Tavors are under 2k now and I can only imagine them being better.

Won't an SL8 and conversion kit together exceed $2000?
