Got my FC dangler for IFAK. Note: Velcro doesn’t really fit inside the Spiritus Thing 2 chest rig. It’s too for the back insert. I might cut the Velcro a bit
Otherwise it works well and fits all my IFAK needs
Just put t on the front underneath the placard like you would on a PC, goober

I’m confused. I have it set up the same way the chest rig in your pic has it?

The one in my pic is not using the little slit in the back for the dangler. I put the dangler in front of the thing and behind the placard

Ah ya I tried that first, but didn’t like that if I bent over the dangler would also rip off the placard

On second thought I just ziptied the placard to the back section with the FC dangler underneath so it won’t come loose and it fits better
If I ever need to remove it or a PC I’ll just cut the zip ties

We had quals once at range we don’t normally use and there was a porta potty there. We are on break when a female agent goes in and we hear the distinctive double kerplump of two Sig mags down the hatch. Range dude said those are gone forever.
The meta for larperators is standalone plates in minimalist carriers, this is dumb because that setup evolved in an environment where the users were being ferried to their objectives and engaging in lightning strike raids. Most citizens that fancy themselves potential combatants would benefit from the BALCS ( basic armor load carriage system) style setup where rifle plates are backed by soft armor in a carrier that distributes weight far more efficiently. If you found yourself in a situation where you need to don a plate carrier in anger you are likely going to want frag protection and a way to carry a full combat load and sustainment. >The everyman is trying to be elite larperators >The everyman should equip themselves for basic soldiering instead
I’m old school and just kept my soft inserts after I finally upgraded my plates. Mine aren’t exact BALCS cut so I have a small gap on the sides.
Why was she keeping sig mags in her backup prison wallet? I'd beat off at least once per tower guard shift, day or night didn't matter

My fit
Not a bad start anon, now do a layout for the class to see
That’s an option. I was originally going to have double stacked mags (6) in front, and have a multitool and flashlight or something in the side JSTA pouch. I found out I only need 4+1 rifle mags so this setup worked well. I can easily put a multitool in next to the 4th AR mag
[...]
Keep pistol related stuff on a belt. Loaded gun in holster + 2 spare mags. I keep 1 rifle mag behind the pistol mags and that's my primary reload for my rifle. IFAK w/TQ at 6 o'clock. Dump pouch if you find it handy. I also recently added an Arbor Arms 16oz Nalgene pouch to my belt at about 4 o'clock. Fits any mass produced bottled water as well. Some guys like to keep water on their chest rig or carrier, but I kind of like it on the belt so far.
Keep your chest rig primarily geared toward supporting the rifle.
Belt is a possibility. I want to be able to run my chest rig without a belt though and be set
At the very least, Im open to running the pistol mags on a belt, and keeping the IFAK on the chest rig for when I don’t need to run a pistol.
I also wanna throw a little BFG dump pouch on the back strap of the chest rig (or somewhere on it)
Where do you currently have the pistol? I would assume a belt of some kind. There are kydex mag carriers that can be used with any standard 1.5" EDC belt.
Only reason I keep my IFAK on my belt is because I pretty much don't foresee a situation for myself where the belt doesn't go on well ahead of the chest rig or PC. That said, I haven't ruled out adding a dangler for meds to my setup. I've avoided it because I'm just not a fan of danglers.
There's no rule saying you need just one IFAK. I've got a dangler on my vest, one on my belt, one on my assault pack that I use for the range, and one strapped to the passenger seat of my car.

I know. I've just been avoiding adding a dangler. I've got a car med kit, and my tiny boo-boo kit with band-aids, neosporin, eye drops, etc is in part of a pouch on my placard. I just don't like danglers, but it really seems like it's only a matter of time until I add one...
How's the Ferro Mini Dangler? Big enough for the usual IFAK ingredients?
I haven’t even started setting up my belt yet, but the pistol will be on my 3 o’clock. If there are Kydex holsters with double mag retention, that would be nice
We won’t always need the pistol, so id like everything else on my chest rig.
youre the retard italian, right?
1. you have no idea how to use any of this and have zero training
2. its all expired (except the israelis, which are shit dressings to begin with). you can see literal holes in the quickclot packaging.
what a fucking total moron, jesus christ. you could have gotten an actual usable first aid kit for half those $60.
>Make a picture with the holes,
I can see multiple black holes in the packaging, are you retarded? It looks like mold or some shit. >plus it’s not all expired
What isnt expired? >plus the existing date isn’t relevant and the expired one is 2 years old
Thats absolutely fucking relevant, you dumb fuck. This is why you need medical training. You dont even know how this shit works. Chest seals lose adhesiveness (especially Hyfins) within a year sometimes (if exposed to heat etc). Chest seals that are years and years old are just plastic. Same as using a Doritos bag. Kaolin lasts a little longer but any exposure to moisture ruins the gauze instantly. Seeing as you have fucking holes in it, it's safe to assume that shit is nothing but garbage.
None of this matters to you anyway since you will never need to use any of this, will never get any training and will never own a firearm.
Look man if your comms plan is a whole 30$ then you're doing something wrong. Its "move, shoot & communicate" not "shoot, maybe move a little and what we have left we communicate with" This is a good time to get something better, like a DMR radio
unless you have a specific cushion behind your armor, no armor absorbs energy. it just spreads it out from a point that is the same diameter as the bullet to your whole chest.
from a physics perspective there is some energy disapation when the bullet and the armor deform, but that's about it.
A thick enough steel plate may stop a projectile, but it wont absorb the energy as well and will still fuck you up.
Too bad that common rifles do jackshit for behind armor damage. Between spreading impact energy over a 10x12 plate, lateral dissipation of force through the ceramic, dwell time robbing energy every nanosecond and the sharp divide between ceramic and polyethylene, you arent doing anything major to the person behind the plate.
Even a completely inflexible steel plate should have no issues with behind armor effects provided it stops the round.
POINT ME TO A SINGLE FATALITY FROM BEHIND-HARD-ARMOR TRAUMA OR THIS IS FUDDLORE
this is false, don't listen to this gay, only like 3 people in history have died from backface trauma via a stopped projectile >2 women cops who accidentally shot themselves in the liver point blank >1 cop shot with a 45-70 directly in the heart at contact distance
IRL they actually just don't stop 556 (tested myself) and are heavy, plus is they do stop whatever you are shot with the spall will cut your arms and neck.
heavy
sends bullet fragments into your arms and neck
does not stop 5.56, the most common rifle threat in america
flat as a board, once you pay the fee for them to curve it it's not even all that cheap
emil matasareanu took a double tap from an ar15 wearing an IIIA bulletproof vest with a steel plate sewn in as a backer and it didn't do shit which is why they shot his ass in the legs
People talk up the 5.56 zap angle, but it goes much further than that, any FMJ going faster than 3200fps will destroy steel. So effectively every hunting cartridge in North America.
This, and a complete lack of AP protection, there are no steel plates that handle even 7.62x39 API. Kind of a problem now that standard issue ammo is M855a1 and M80a1.
My opinion is to put the SAS Hexar alumina IV back instead. 299 each, 8lbs, OMGWTF multihit performance. The pedestrian Apex-shilled plates like the 4s17m offer nothing over that Hexar panel.
In line with the 4401, I wonder when Hesco is getting off their ass and releasing their fresh lineup they teased last year.
Opinions on what sort of medical stuff I should get for my work van?
It came with a basic first aid kit, but it's pretty cheap and basic.
For context, I'm I'm mobile technician, and I go out to some reasonably remote places to work on stuff, and the factory guys occasionally don't grind the burrs off of the plates before assembling and shipping, as well as having to squeeze through some tight places. We service ATMs, so there's a risk of having a nignog come up to us and try to score some easy money, but it hasn't happened in my area yet. I picked up some bandages and gauze and stuff as extra, but was wondering on opinions from you guys.
Basic wound care stuff, the little bottles of saline, antiseptics, different sizes of bandaid dressings
I was thinking about joining my local rescue squad to gain FA experience and knowledge. However, I'm not sure what level they train to.
Other then being a volunteer EMT, what are some good resources for First Aid self study? Is it possible to reach or get close to the skill level of a combat medic as a civilian?
>Is it possible to reach or get close to the skill level of a combat medic as a civilian?
Go and get a job as a Paramedic and work in a shithole city with 100 shootings per day.
What's the deal with BALCS? Why isn't it the standard for armor for the everyman? >covers most likely domestic threats >scales up with additional of plates >frag protection by default >carriers distribute weight better than petite plate carriers
Because a BALCS carrier is far more expensive than a plate carrier. >Midwest Armor BALCS >380 >BCS BALCS Carrier >300 >Hesco 4400 set >300
You're in almost 1000 dollars for the cheapest, non Chinese set up. Add in side plates and it's well over 1000.
It doesn't really make sense to wear soft armor under modern stand alone plates.
and if you want the additional coverage you can throw cheap side panels in the cummerbund of a cheaper and easier to find PC
>Why isn't it the standard for armor for the everyman?
because its fucking annoying to actually wear

your average moron here is actually less likely to see frag/explosive threats than they are rifle threats
soldiers are more likely to see frag/explosive threats, primarily do to IEDs in COIN or due to artillery in LSCO
It's heavy and hot as shit to wear for less protection than a plate carrier. It's also too thick to be worn covertly underneath normal clothing. If you're putting on a full armor carrier and carrying a rifle to face a threat then you should assume that threat could be armed with a rifle. You're not going to be around this armor carrier if you're at work or anywhere the most likely domestic threats are going to occur, so why not get thinner concealable soft armor that you can more readily wear instead?
Unless you're wearing rifle rated plates in conjunction with the soft armor (the same plates that would be worn in a plate carrier) then you've only got 3A protection.
>the same plates that would be worn in a plate carrier)
Oh wow you're using lightweight ICW plates in your carrier without soft armor? You really shouldn't.
I was thinking about joining my local rescue squad to gain FA experience and knowledge. However, I'm not sure what level they train to.
Other then being a volunteer EMT, what are some good resources for First Aid self study? Is it possible to reach or get close to the skill level of a combat medic as a civilian?
Honestly that’s perfect. Take every volunteer opportunity you can. 68W training is often unit and provider dependent - the bog standard, never learned anything else ever again guy is an EMT with some IV and minor procedure experience. For a couple years, chest tubes and fresh whole blood transfusions along with vitals charting and here-and-there pressor drug functions have been taught but maintaining those skills depends on the medic to seek additional opportunities and is heavily reliant on his medical director’s investment in the soldier.

Do you have any suggestions for where I might source some woodland rack pouches? I can find the base rack on ebay but kitting it up is going to be expensive. Are the shoulder straps on the rack adequate or should I look into aftermarket options?

I'm ready to not run around innawoods wearing BDU anymore but everything I'd want to buy in woodland is gone. Is this shit ever coming back or am I going to be being forced to take the Zog pill?
Never used instagram. Just always ran around in the woods in woodland. Since I was kid. Just like woodland. Looks cool. Simple as. Don't like multicam. Sick of wearing BDU. You're a gay btw.
I’m building my chest rig and I need to fit 2 pistol mags, and 4 rifle mags on the kit. So far it’s all Spiritus systems stuff, and I’m throwing a mini dangler on the bottom for an IFAK
Where would be a good place to store the second pistol mag? I’m trying to avoid throwing stuff on a battle belt as much as possible
i don't want to shit on your idea, but have you considered just ditching the pistol altogether (for the chest rig) and replacing the mag pouch with a full size multitool instead?
That’s an option. I was originally going to have double stacked mags (6) in front, and have a multitool and flashlight or something in the side JSTA pouch. I found out I only need 4+1 rifle mags so this setup worked well. I can easily put a multitool in next to the 4th AR mag

Recently picked up one of these Hgear ABU vests for super cheap. The camo is ugly as hell, but I really dig it. It's got enough webbing for a light load of mags, and the back panel can take hydration. Currently have a 3liter, but soon to swap out for a 1.5 liter. Not the most turbo high speed but I think the price was a steal.
well, I bought one from them. if they complain hopefully they'll accept a bill as proof of address. if not I guess I'll just cancel the order and refund it
>grenade pouch: radio >GP/SAW pouch: IFAK >dump pouch >BFG tourniquet holder
What would you do here? I can fit my IFAK in a much smaller pouch since it's vacuum sealed into a brick. Also I don't like the TQ being so exposed.
>GP/SAW pouch
That's a canteen pouch >I can fit my IFAK in a much smaller pouch
perhaps a dedicated IFAK pouch >Also I don't like the TQ being so exposed
You have a lot of USGI pouches on there already, might as well grap the USGI TQ pouch
>GP/SAW pouch
When I think of a GP pouch, I think of somewhere you can securely store NVGs. I know it’s just a “general purpose” pouch, but that’s what comes to my mind
sure I throw pop tarts and shit in mine all the time in the field, but it's still called a canteen pouch and not a saw pouch

I intentionally vacuum sealed everything together to save on space, and no I don't care how terrible you think that is.
In what world do you need a multitool to open a vacuum pack? It's the same as opening shit like your combat gauze or chest seal, there's notches pre-cut you just fucking rip it open.

Picked these up at a yard sale the other day. The big one on the right was $10, the one next to it with the flag patch was $40, the smaller one was $20, and the fanny pack was $5. All except the big ten dollar one are brand new with tags on.
You don't put a fucking water bottle on a chest rig you retard. Do you duct tape hot dogs to the front of your t-shirt so you can have a snack while you're walking around during the day?
>Do you duct tape hot dogs to the front of your t-shirt so you can have a snack while you're walking around during the day?
Not him, but I had a soldier in my platoon who kept cooked hot dogs and buns in his cargo pockets lines with tin foil. He would offer them to people (I was the only one to take him up on it) and we'd eat them. It was rad.
I mean, they're cooked and you're probably going to eat them in a few hours from being heated to kill temp for bacteria. Hot dogs are a pretty damn good quick food if you have mustard and kraut. Buns might get pretty smooshed in a cargo pocket. You have to secure them to your head
Don't listen to the naysayers, water bottle on a chest rig is good if you don't like camelbaks. In any case, the Eagle surplus canteen pouches work well for both nalgenes and canteens.

Are there any options for pants that are like crye g3s but half price. I don't mind losing features, it just has to have a crotch gusset, built in knee pads and not be total shit. I squat 5p8 and my buns will tear through crap with no hesitation. I saw arktis c222 but they are still a bit rich for me. Might have to wait for a sale.
Thanks boss, found and ordered one from Eastern Europe. Oddly they had exactly my size. $102 with DHL international shipping. Will update the thread once I receive them at the end of next week.
any thoughts on LBT Modular plate carrier? Currently on sale for $270 and I have been wanting a plate carrier in woodland for a while. I also wear size large plates so having a carrier specifically in that size would be great.
For a long time, LBT had solidly built shit, and even though the designs are now older, for a while they held up. Unfortunately, QC at LBT has sunk like a stone over the past 2 years. Stitching and materials used aren't as good as they used to be. And I say this as a long time LBT simp. makes me sad that the company went this way, but it is what it is. Only thing they still seem to put in any effort in with is the assault packs.
man that is too bad to hear. I recently got a few smaller pouches/bags from them and they seemed over/well built, but they aren't anything like a carrier or backpack.
>He said while giving 0 examples
You want me to pull out the LBT carrier I got last year and take pics of the shoddier construction? >talking shit about one of most rock solid known for being overbuilt designs companies of all time
Yes, as I said in the very first part of the post you replied to. Companies can change over time. Like say, Remington going to shit. Remember that? I liked LBT for a long time. I'm sad to see them move in this direction but what can you do about it?

I can't decide whether I like bladders/camel backs more than throwing on a belt canteen. I'm rocking an AWS and G-Code Operator's Belt but have always felt more comfortable with just a simple canteen. I'm thinking as long as I stop it from flopping around and don't run it off a carabiner, I should be fine.
lol, of course not. It's basically a light nylon sleeping bag that sorta looks like a poncho. And because it's thick and has fiberfill insulation, it can sorta block your heat signature. Until you wear it for a while and it gets hot.
It's literally retarded.
If you need constant access to water, nothing beats a bladder held in a ruck or bag attached to the back of your carrier. There are some chest rig harnesses that provide MOLLE for mounting smaller sized bladder bags on the back as well. Holding water on the front of a carrier or chest rig isn't great. Anything bigger than 16oz is definitely going to get in the way.
I keep a bladder in my ruck, but for basic range outings and whatnot, I recently picked up the Arbor Arms 16oz Nalgene pouch for my belt. Pic related. Stows away completely when not in use. Holds a 16oz Nalgene perfectly, as well as any common bottled water. You could even use it to hold a couple AR mags or other random shit if you wanted to.
Hanging canteens from carabiners works too, but can get floppier than I like when moving.
eBay removed my posting for plates I am trying to sell because they are le military gear (level IV, egarden gnome only allows up to 3 or something). Where can I sell them? I live in a small town and don't use Facebook. Boomer gunstore in town that is a semi pawnshop offered me $150 for them kek >SONNY I DON'T CARE WHAT UR PHONE SAYS, IT SAYS HERE THAT THEY ARE $350 NEW >well sir those are level 3 these are IV standalone... >I DON"T CARE
fucking retards
As someone who previously managed a pawn shop, this post is absolutely correct.
On an unrelated note I think I'm finally going to order a Crossfire DG16 and see if it's any good.
My shaw concepts arc v2 came in the mail and after putting all my work shit on it I can definitively say it's immediately more comfortable than the gen 4 IOTV and the MSV we got at work. Also manages to feel as "nimble" as a JPC without destroying your traps under an infantry load (side plates, 7+1 mags, water, radio, IFAK, admin shit/signal) after 2ish hours.
Was Defense Mechanisms the first company to put the little square anti-chafing tab on their one wrap strips? How come no one else does this? I understand, it's such a little thing, but it's the kind of thing that seems obvious to do.
>helmet but no plates >even if it's "for night vision" the drop in handguards won't hold zero with a LAM >no light >meme sling >no medical >not using one of the 9 gorillion magazine pouches on your chest rig to hold your multitool so you'll just lose it >no water >no holster

I saw anon's message last night and was pondering a water situation for myself as well. I guess I need to eventually pick up one of those pouches that sits on your back or something.
Plates really have a very narrow use case. Going to be in a situation where you're mostly static and have a very real chance of being shot? Like guarding a location or being in a vehicle during SHTF. Plates come in handy there.
For everything else, chest rigs are superior and cheaper to get into since you're not spending hundreds of dollars on just the plates themselves. Nothing sucks worse than cheaping out on plates and ending up with 15+ pounds of armor weighing you down, like the Highcom 4s17m plates mentioned here [...]. If you want decent plates that don't weigh so much, you're going to need to budget out at least $800 for them, unless you hop on the deal for the Blackbeard plates in that same infographic.
You might want to first get into a placard-based chest rig setup that can be transferred over to a plate carrier down the road. There are even some chest rig setups that will let you use a cummerbund (Defense Mechanisms LCP, Javlin Concepts JCR, etc) that you could transfer over to plate bags too.
got it, thanks
any chest rig suggestions? I don't see any infographic for them
It depends on what you want to carry. The Spiritus Micro Fight chest rigs sort of set the stage for modern modular chest rigs. Pic related was the super typical basic configuration for a long while. 3 slots for rifle mags in the back, 2 slots for pistol mags or other tools in half of the front, a general storage pouch in the other half, and a dangler for medical supplies.
Probably the most popular pre-configured rigs are the Haley Strategic D3CRM and the Velocity Systems Gen IV if you want more pouches compared to the D3CRM.

Chicom type 56 chest rigs are $20 but they are kinda shit for anything except 7.62 AK mags.
My personal suggestion is for you to waste a bit more money and buy a Blackhawk chest rig like this one for $40.

You will figure out quite quickly whether you will conceivably see yourself using any of this shit once you spend a few hours wearing it, and this chest rig is almost identical to the Garand Thumb Recce Rig which is $400 more expensive. If running around in gear is something you enjoy doing, then you can continue to use your chest rig or maybe consider future gear purchases. If you go out and spend $300 on some fancy chest rig then you'll likely never do anything strenuous with it and treat it like a cordura safe queen because god forbid you compromise the resale value.
Not sure if its a good place to ask. But what uniform is Don Draper wearing here. I searched but can't find anything similar. Makes me think its fictional even. He fought in the korean war if that helps.
some variety of pink and greens and an Ike jacket, or something supposed to be that.
Image needs an update. I'd recommend the Beez Combat Systems Aptum Micro X over the RDR rig. The T3 Spear rig recently got a gen 2 update that's now made of laminate and has a better harness. Unobtanium Gear has some really cool rigs, too. They even have a modernized TAPS style rig.
Nothing sucks worse than cheaping out on plates and ending up with 15+ pounds of armor weighing you down, like the Highcom 4s17m plates mentioned here
https://i.imgur.com/jyYdi0N.png
Could I conceviably stick a full sized pair of Hyfins into a BFG Micro? Or should I go for the LBT IFAK instead? I'll probably buy a shitty chink knockoff, take it down and re-stich everything. $90 for a tiny little IFAK pouch is a little much no matter how well its made.

Never owned a SIG personally but from googling around it seems that some models have a proprietary rail. It does seem to fit stuff like lights though, with the 1913 adapter. Their military models have standard picatinny.
Recently purchased a collapsable/folding mini drone for my load out. Good recon tool for the size. Sounds like they are exceptionally helpful in Ukraine.
It's a Neheme NH525 and cost $50 from Amazon. Figured why not.
Yeah, small and compact. Fits in an admin piuch or even a double stack mag pouch if you really cram it. Obviously for quick portability and short-range observation in an urban setting. If want more, buy bigger but that obviously comes with mobility and carry issues.
I've lost weight and my belt is kinda long now
The tip hangs down like a foot from my belt loops
What's a good choice of belt for EDC?
Considered getting a 2 layer tactical belt, but I want something that'll stay secure when I remove the tacticool shit
Kore Essentials is nice. Personally I like a nice leather belt stiff enough to support.a holster and a separate 2 piece range belt so I dont have to tread all the stuff on it every time I want to train.
When I was a PSD early GWOT, that was our exact loadout (except there was no zipper, more of a Rhodesian style rig), with the additional layer of a plate hanger over the SPEAR.
How did it work for you guys. I think a truly slick carrier like this is actually viable to be put in a pack if need be. The split front makes it so simple taking everything off as well
Split-front chest rig like an LBT1961 with an ultra-lightweight slick plate carrier is the most scalable way to carry first-line and second-line gear. If you have a pack you can put the plate carrier in the pack and wear the chest rig.
It worked good because it was scalable based on need. Many times, I’d wear my lighter Eagle Rhodesian rig that held 4 AR mags and 2 pistol mags without any other pouches because our mission was low profile more often than overt. The whole rig + comms could be covered with a big shirt or breakaway haji outfit which wasn’t “deep cover” but good enough to pass through a checkpoint or causal observation without letting anyone know you were kitted up. We also used luxury hard cars instead of Suburbans or actual APC’s and that can be a tight squeeze when dong vehicle work where less is more.
The fuck?
A new 2023 G550 goes for $139,900. A really old one, like the one in the pic, can be had for a small fraction of that amount, typically well under 50k. They're not expensive cars. They're very practical cars.
Here you go, bro, a pimped out version:

Got my FC dangler for IFAK. Note: Velcro doesn’t really fit inside the Spiritus Thing 2 chest rig. It’s too for the back insert. I might cut the Velcro a bit
Otherwise it works well and fits all my IFAK needs

I need boots, good boots for hiking rocky and muddy mountain terrain, what's the best, cheapest, DU-contaminated .mil surplus shit I can get off of ebay and how do I know if I need a wide? Rocky. Danner, Nike, Oakley? For pic related and Crye kit also. Not trans btw if that matters
What's the deal with RE/Umbrella stuff in the AR community? I bought a thing of aeroshell a while back that has the Umbrella logo on it for some reason, lol.
No clue besides fans of the games and movies that like guns but the company itself that owns the rights to the firearm market is or was known for its high quality but rebranded receivers and parts, they haven't sold receivers since 2018 and I've been on the wait list since then watching $350 receiver sets sell for over $1k. Don't know where they are, could have made a killing during covid

He probably fell for the RMA meme and had a round or two zip right through.
I need THIN gloves for the range please. I want to load my 22 mags without getting my fingers dirty. Thanks!!
I mean, they're thin. How long do you expect thin $20 gloves to last? Spend $10 and get yourself an entire box of nitrile gloves if it's that big of a deal.

true. I use nitriles sometimes but I think my box is a bit small for my hands so they rip quickly.
Thanks I'll look into them more. No idea if I need a wide but I'll figure it out

I got a bayonet from OKC, whats the metal buckle on the end of the sheath for? Looks like it might clip to am alice belt? Theres also a horizontal strap and buckle just below it, whats that for?
The metal buckle is for attaching it to a standard-issue pistol belt or to webbing. The horizontal strap is backwards in your photo. Unsnap it and wrap it the other way. It will go around the handle of the bayonet.
The buckle will go on pretty much any belt. The strap is for securing the knife in sheath.

>Try on Salomon Quests at REI >They clearly run large, even a half size down from my size it's a bit iffy >Order the Forces version a half size down from my size >They seem to fit differently than the normal Quests >Length feels perfect, about a half-inch extra space at the front >Except my pinky toe is cramped on the side >Pinky toe kinda hurts after a few hours of wearing them around
I don't have wide feet as far as I know. In fact I have another pair of non-wide Salomons that fit me fine.
What do bros? Keep breaking them in and hope for the best? Clean them and see if I can exchange them for a half size up? Sell them (I got a good discount) and order a half size up?
Personally I never had to break in my Forces (Mid XA) and they were true to size. I wear 43, bought 43 and they're a perfect fit. I'd try cramming them with wet paper (like really cramming them) and leaving them like that for a few days. If that doesn't fix it, sell and move on. I'd also consider not buying overpriced meme boots like Salomon and Lowa and just sticking to cheap, tried and tested Merrell's, Danner's, Karrimor's etc.
>I'd also consider not buying overpriced meme boots like Salomon and Lowa
kek I was thinking of going for Lowa next if these don't end up working out
Were the Quests from REI Salomon Quest 4s? Note that I am not saying 4Ds, but 4s. (The difference is that 4D is merely a part of the boot name, the type of the chassis it uses, while 4 itself refers to the 4th gen)
Salomon Quest 4s have a completely different fit compared to Quest 1s, 2s, and 3s. Specifically, they're longer, like clown shoes (far oversized, as you said), but also narrower at the same time, compared to the old gen ones. While on the other hand, Salomon Quest Forces are based on Quest 2s, and thus share the basic design and fit with the older generation Quests.

Step 1. Connect female QASM buckles to 1" webbing loops on sides of placard.
Step 2. Connect harness of your choice to male and female QASM buckles on placard.
Step 3. Pic related.
You cant, its a meme navy seal camo thats rare as fuck. If you live in the desert just get tricolor or multicam arid. AOR1 is one of the cringiest camos for a civilian anyway. YWNBADEVGRU.
I should have prefaced that I'm a fucking manlet and need small or medium short. My ACUs were always small reg or small short so I assume it would be the same from crye or patagonia.
That's where it seems like it's unobtainium to get used so new would be my only real option.
SXS here. Literally just put the foam pads in the knee and elbow pad slots on your acu's and just wear them all out. Who cares about high speed uniforms. We're all going to have to paint our helmets in red white and American anyway.
That's pretty much what I plan to do for a lot of the year but the main reasons I want a proper AOR2 combat set is for the actual camo pattern and breathability. My area is extremely green and hot as fuck for half the year. ACUs are hot as hell and even worse with a plate carrier on.
I could get creative and buy a navy uniform set and cut the sleeves off and sew them onto some kind of green golf polo so the body is still the moisture wicking shit.
SD. Half of the state looks like the shire, 25% looks like generic cowboy movie prairie, 25% is mountains and forest. Then the 7 months of winter hits and its all one big sheet of white.
I like going for woods walks around the family's property, my ALICE belt is about perfect for the job.
Nice and light, perfect for carrying my water, Poormetto® Glickoid™, and accessory pouch.
However, I can't seem to find the ideal load balance between the belt and suspenders. The belt should carry most of the load around my hips, right? But I think I might have it too tight right now, because the suspenders are loose and don't really do much, and might be contributing to hip pain afterwards. (skinnyfat early 20's and not getting enough exercise to begin with, very hilly terrain) Should I even be bothering with the suspenders with this light of a load? Do I loosen the belt so the suspenders do most of the work? Or is it fine and I'm just too out of shape right now?
What's your guys' light kit for short walks innawoods?
the alice belt should only be around your hips if you're wearing it with a ruck. when you're just wearing the belt and suspenders it's meant to ride high and tight, so the belt would be at or above your navel
The SLEDS placard? That shit is so good. Only downside I've come across with it is that the MOLLE on the mag pockets add up to 5 columns, and the only 5 columns wide GP pouch I've come across is the HSGI Mini MAP V2. I might grab it and see how well it works mounted onto it. Not a fan of bulking up the front of my placard, but having a pouch front and center can be useful.
Yeah, I remember looking into DM's placard system but it's just too much velcro. Guy I know has their placard and damn near every time he did anything with it you could hear velcro noises.
Yeah SLEDS, plus a mag pouch to stick on the cummerbund since I originally purchased a sidekick pouch but that sucked.
Honestly aside from the MEPC all of DM's stuff is either lackluster or retarded. Pure elastic placard pouches so reindex is a bitch and you can't even use kydex inserts, and everything velcro as mentioned. Should've just gotten a JPC or upgraded my cheap 6094
Yeah, after using the Unobtanium placard and mag pouches, I'll never bother with pure elastic ever again. They can lay flat when empty like pure elastic, but the tegris sheet makes indexing pretty much as easy as KYWI and MP2 insert pouches and placards.

Not bad if not super old and you don't qualify for discounted rates.
Good if not expired in 2007. I need to refresh.
We had quals once at range we don’t normally use and there was a porta potty there. We are on break when a female agent goes in and we hear the distinctive double kerplump of two Sig mags down the hatch. Range dude said those are gone forever.
Not a bad start anon, now do a layout for the class to see
Is using a belt an option at all?
I told my gf who used to work probation that she had two prison wallets so she should hold my car keys.

Make a picture with the holes, plus it’s not all expired, plus the existing date isn’t relevant and the expired one is 2 years old
>Make a picture with the holes,
I can see multiple black holes in the packaging, are you retarded?
None of this matters to you anyway since you will never need to use any of this, will never get any training and will never own a firearm.
>sordins came in
>lost my baofeng to test out the comms
kill me
Look man if your comms plan is a whole 30$ then you're doing something wrong. Its "move, shoot & communicate" not "shoot, maybe move a little and what we have left we communicate with" This is a good time to get something better, like a DMR radio
Whats wrong with a steel plate
A thick enough steel plate may stop a projectile, but it wont absorb the energy as well and will still fuck you up.
unless you have a specific cushion behind your armor, no armor absorbs energy. it just spreads it out from a point that is the same diameter as the bullet to your whole chest.
from a physics perspective there is some energy disapation when the bullet and the armor deform, but that's about it.
POINT ME TO A SINGLE FATALITY FROM BEHIND-HARD-ARMOR TRAUMA OR THIS IS FUDDLORE
this is false, don't listen to this gay, only like 3 people in history have died from backface trauma via a stopped projectile
>2 women cops who accidentally shot themselves in the liver point blank
>1 cop shot with a 45-70 directly in the heart at contact distance
IRL they actually just don't stop 556 (tested myself) and are heavy, plus is they do stop whatever you are shot with the spall will cut your arms and neck.
heavy
sends bullet fragments into your arms and neck
does not stop 5.56, the most common rifle threat in america
flat as a board, once you pay the fee for them to curve it it's not even all that cheap
emil matasareanu took a double tap from an ar15 wearing an IIIA bulletproof vest with a steel plate sewn in as a backer and it didn't do shit which is why they shot his ass in the legs
So what's the replacement for hesco 4401 now that it's no longer NIJ certed?
It's discontinuedafter the fail, did you even go to the hesco website they announced something a while back.
>Is it possible to reach or get close to the skill level of a combat medic as a civilian?

People are really in here buying medical supplies off Amazon and AliExpres, lmao.
i've been seriously thinking about getting C.A.T.s from aliexpress for TRAINING ONLY, they sell 10 for 20€ (plus shipping)
Honestly not a bad idea, should buy the orange one so you don't run the risk of mixing them up.
>expressly for training
no problem at all, literally what I did for my classes
>well... i mean... how much worse can they be?
no
What's the deal with BALCS? Why isn't it the standard for armor for the everyman?
>covers most likely domestic threats
>scales up with additional of plates
>frag protection by default
>carriers distribute weight better than petite plate carriers
Doesn't look as cool as hard plates in a carrier on the 'gram.
What the fuck are you talking about?
The meta for larperators is standalone plates in minimalist carriers, this is dumb because that setup evolved in an environment where the users were being ferried to their objectives and engaging in lightning strike raids. Most citizens that fancy themselves potential combatants would benefit from the BALCS ( basic armor load carriage system) style setup where rifle plates are backed by soft armor in a carrier that distributes weight far more efficiently. If you found yourself in a situation where you need to don a plate carrier in anger you are likely going to want frag protection and a way to carry a full combat load and sustainment.
>The everyman is trying to be elite larperators
>The everyman should equip themselves for basic soldiering instead
>wants frag protection
Who's the larper now?
Because a BALCS carrier is far more expensive than a plate carrier.
>Midwest Armor BALCS
>380
>BCS BALCS Carrier
>300
>Hesco 4400 set
>300
You're not going to be around this armor carrier if you're at work or anywhere the most likely domestic threats are going to occur, so why not get thinner concealable soft armor that you can more readily wear instead?
>less protection than a plate carrier
Explain
Unless you're wearing rifle rated plates in conjunction with the soft armor (the same plates that would be worn in a plate carrier) then you've only got 3A protection.
>the same plates that would be worn in a plate carrier)
Oh wow you're using lightweight ICW plates in your carrier without soft armor? You really shouldn't.
Learn to read gay, I never said ICW plates. 3A armor isn't going to stop 5.56.
4 is higher/more than 3 even if you add a + to the 3.
And yet it's almost like these BALCS carriers have provisions to carry plates 0_o
ICW lvl4 sure is nicer than standalone lvl 4
>yes, I surely sneed all this frag protection for the artillery I am sure to face while living in the CONUS
>frag protection just happens to be pistol/shotgun protection
>most stateside violence is committed with pistols instead of rifles

It works, just use a 4” ETD
Why not both?

The issue is where do I put the 2+1 pistol mags?
The Ferro mini dangler is what I bought. It’s supposed to have enough space for normal IFAK stuff
On your shoulder strap upside down like a clowns knife.
My fit
>clown knife position
Excellent
Your shoulders are so smooth and creamy.
LMAO I hope you saved this from some discord weenie
Recently picked up one of these Hgear ABU vests for super cheap. The camo is ugly as hell, but I really dig it. It's got enough webbing for a light load of mags, and the back panel can take hydration. Currently have a 3liter, but soon to swap out for a 1.5 liter. Not the most turbo high speed but I think the price was a steal.
>The camo is ugly as hell
this can be fixed with $5 worth of dark green dye, a bucket of hot water, and 1-2 hours of your time
>price was a steal
Best value gear. Get the 100oz bladder pocket.
well, I bought one from them. if they complain hopefully they'll accept a bill as proof of address. if not I guess I'll just cancel the order and refund it
>grenade pouch: radio
>GP/SAW pouch: IFAK
>dump pouch
>BFG tourniquet holder
What would you do here? I can fit my IFAK in a much smaller pouch since it's vacuum sealed into a brick. Also I don't like the TQ being so exposed.
>GP/SAW pouch
That's a canteen pouch
>I can fit my IFAK in a much smaller pouch
perhaps a dedicated IFAK pouch
>Also I don't like the TQ being so exposed
You have a lot of USGI pouches on there already, might as well grap the USGI TQ pouch
Eh I’ve thrown my nods into a canteen pouch lots of times. It just werks
What is the chain of thought to the previous comment here?
sure I throw pop tarts and shit in mine all the time in the field, but it's still called a canteen pouch and not a saw pouch
>GP/SAW pouch
When I think of a GP pouch, I think of somewhere you can securely store NVGs. I know it’s just a “general purpose” pouch, but that’s what comes to my mind
I rarely used my canteen for the canteen, unless it was required for whatever reason
yeah even in the sandbox I didnt use canteen, just camelbacks and plastic waterbottles
That makes sense, I was wondering why it felt bigger than my ifak pouch.
Open up the sealed brick dipshit, people shit on others for not having a staged tourniquet and you still have your entire ifak in its fucking bubble wrap? Lmfao ok also why don't you just throw the tourniquet in the pouch and solve two of your "problems"
>you still have your entire ifak in its fucking bubble wrap
I intentionally vacuum sealed everything together to save on space, and no I don't care how terrible you think that is.
>gets shot with a 5 round burst of 7.62 from a 240
>bleeds to death fumbling with his multitool trying to cut open the vacuum seal on his IFAK
In what world do you need a multitool to open a vacuum pack? It's the same as opening shit like your combat gauze or chest seal, there's notches pre-cut you just fucking rip it open.
>anon trying to retrieve some combat gauze to save his life
>fingers covered in blood
>slipping everywhere
>unable to grip the sides
If there are notches pre cut then it's not airtight is it. Doubly useless.
So now you resort to being intentionally dense. dope.
By the way better go open every sealed item in your IFAK right now if you want to take your own advice.
>teeth suddenly don't exist
just like those weird nightmares I used to have.
>gets shot in the jaw and fingers
Now what?
WTF I like KYWIs now?
Picked these up at a yard sale the other day. The big one on the right was $10, the one next to it with the flag patch was $40, the smaller one was $20, and the fanny pack was $5. All except the big ten dollar one are brand new with tags on.
10 dollar flight bag was a good grab, great for storing pc and helmet, the others look like cheap Chinese crap
I swear to Christ this website somehow manages to get dumber by the day
ur well cum
What suspenders do I get for a slick battle belt?
hips.
Whats a good molle canteen/water pouch for a chest rig?
Depends on what bottle you have. Canteen? USGI Canteen pouch is hard to beat. Other water bottle? Depends on what size it is
I wouldn't recommend running anything bigger than 16 oz/disposable bottle on a chest rig. It constantly feels in the way. Just my $0.02
You don't put a fucking water bottle on a chest rig you retard.
It was rad.
blessed be you water autist
I mean, they're cooked and you're probably going to eat them in a few hours from being heated to kill temp for bacteria. Hot dogs are a pretty damn good quick food if you have mustard and kraut. Buns might get pretty smooshed in a cargo pocket. You have to secure them to your head
army cargo pockets are roomy as hell on most pants you can fit a ton of shit in them
Why does he wear the helmet?
retard
Don't listen to the naysayers, water bottle on a chest rig is good if you don't like camelbaks. In any case, the Eagle surplus canteen pouches work well for both nalgenes and canteens.
just put it on your belt?
Worse in almost all cases than having it on the cummerbund in my experience.
Enjoy your retarded lopsided shit gear with a huge water bottle dragging you down on one side. If you mount a fucking water bottle on the cummerbund of a plate carrier you are as retarded as those people who mount huge rambo knives to their shoulder straps.
If you just have a good structural plate carrier, it's not a problem at all. Do you know how common canteens on plate carriers is in the military?
>Do you know how common canteens on plate carriers is in the military?
army here with 10 years in, at most I've seen canteens on taps and flcs, but never on armor
Your experience is shit and meaningless.
Post your canteen on belt set up so I can laugh
I main a camelback or bladder in a minimap you fucking imbecile cretin.
Post your canteen on cummerbund you imbalanced funny walking gay so the whole thread can laugh.

bro no
I like the art
Shit take.
Use a 500ml nalgene or 2. Not sure if there are specific pouches for that but there should be many that can fit.
This might be a stupid question
But what mag pouches are good for SCAR-H mags?
Basically any .308 magazine pouch out there. Kydex, tacos, bungee, flapped, etc. should all fix Scar mags no problem.
Haley trmp placard. Watch the Dr garandthumb and dragonfly man video explaining it. They shove a ton of shit in it.
CZ 4M Omega are around $150 if you can find any.
Thanks boss, found and ordered one from Eastern Europe. Oddly they had exactly my size. $102 with DHL international shipping. Will update the thread once I receive them at the end of next week.
Cool, I've had a pair for years now and they held up perfectly. They take Crye kneepads, btw.
any thoughts on LBT Modular plate carrier?
I'm sure small stuff is fine, although the padded slings are kinda shitty
He said while giving 0 examples, talking shit about one of most rock solid known for being overbuilt designs companies of all time.
Best leg strap on the market currently? Using some chink abomination rn, feels far too bulky. Should I get the twinks or is there a better option? I like the look of the True North adapter but it's a little expensive.
>list mediocre Safelife 3a concealable vest on local marketplace
>only get shifty retard tire kickers to bite
>one requests me to knock 25% off the price THEN drive 2 hours away into the heart of one of the more violent cities nearby
I don't know what I expected.
I can't decide whether I like bladders/camel backs more than throwing on a belt canteen. I'm rocking an AWS and G-Code Operator's Belt but have always felt more comfortable with just a simple canteen. I'm thinking as long as I stop it from flopping around and don't run it off a carabiner, I should be fine.
https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-tst-thermal-cloak/57470
do these things actually work at shielding your heat signature for only $300? I am skeptical
lol, of course not.
The problem with canteens is they slosh.
eBay removed my posting for plates I am trying to sell because they are le military gear (level IV, egarden gnome only allows up to 3 or something). Where can I sell them? I live in a small town and don't use Facebook. Boomer gunstore in town that is a semi pawnshop offered me $150 for them kek
>SONNY I DON'T CARE WHAT UR PHONE SAYS, IT SAYS HERE THAT THEY ARE $350 NEW
>well sir those are level 3 these are IV standalone...
>I DON"T CARE
fucking retards
tacswap
Bro... its a fuckin pawnshop, what do you expect? Pawnshops are for selling stolen shit or desperate people i.e. crackheads.
As someone who previously managed a pawn shop, this post is absolutely correct.
On an unrelated note I think I'm finally going to order a Crossfire DG16 and see if it's any good.
Also, ATS makes a hydration carrier than can attach to pretty much any chest rig H harness:
Might be an option for anyone using a chest rig without a ruck.
Am I gonna make it?
Fucking hell I retook the photo with my rifle flipped. It won't let me delete. Yo mods could ya do me a favor? Not legible but still.

I saw anon's message last night and was pondering a water situation for myself as well. I guess I need to eventually pick up one of those pouches that sits on your back or something.

plates and a carrier?
maybe a chest rig first unless you really want to up your larping to having 10-18 more pounds sandwiching your torso out of the gate
got it, thanks
any chest rig suggestions? I don't see any infographic for them
It depends on what you want to carry. The Spiritus Micro Fight chest rigs sort of set the stage for modern modular chest rigs. Pic related was the super typical basic configuration for a long while. 3 slots for rifle mags in the back, 2 slots for pistol mags or other tools in half of the front, a general storage pouch in the other half, and a dangler for medical supplies.
Probably the most popular pre-configured rigs are the Haley Strategic D3CRM and the Velocity Systems Gen IV if you want more pouches compared to the D3CRM.
thanks bro
Of course I forgot the pic.
Chicom type 56 chest rigs are $20 but they are kinda shit for anything except 7.62 AK mags.
My personal suggestion is for you to waste a bit more money and buy a Blackhawk chest rig like this one for $40.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/224699327424?
You will figure out quite quickly whether you will conceivably see yourself using any of this shit once you spend a few hours wearing it, and this chest rig is almost identical to the Garand Thumb Recce Rig which is $400 more expensive. If running around in gear is something you enjoy doing, then you can continue to use your chest rig or maybe consider future gear purchases. If you go out and spend $300 on some fancy chest rig then you'll likely never do anything strenuous with it and treat it like a cordura safe queen because god forbid you compromise the resale value.
pic related
some variety of pink and greens and an Ike jacket, or something supposed to be that.
Nothing sucks worse than cheaping out on plates and ending up with 15+ pounds of armor weighing you down, like the Highcom 4s17m plates mentioned here
Cashier is hot.
Not sure if its a good place to ask. But what uniform is Don Draper wearing here. I searched but can't find anything similar. Makes me think its fictional even. He fought in the korean war if that helps.
Stupid question
But are handgun rails different to rifle rails?
I just tried to put a VFG on my sig and it wouldn't go on
SIG's have proprietary rails, don't they? Not standard 1913 picatinny.
That's a pretty shitty business practice if true
Never owned a SIG personally but from googling around it seems that some models have a proprietary rail. It does seem to fit stuff like lights though, with the 1913 adapter. Their military models have standard picatinny.
There's a lot of that. The H&K USP and the early Walther P99 both had proprietary rails. Sometimes it's necessary due to size constraints.
Recently purchased a collapsable/folding mini drone for my load out. Good recon tool for the size. Sounds like they are exceptionally helpful in Ukraine.
It's a Neheme NH525 and cost $50 from Amazon. Figured why not.
>100m control distance
>26min battery
big oof, obviously great for the price tho.
I have a Kore leather belt. It's the only gun belt I've had that's thin enough to properly engage a DeSantis j-clip.

mayflower gen v over first spear slick carrier, very comfy

A new 2023 G550 goes for $139,900. A really old one, like the one in the pic, can be had for a small fraction of that amount, typically well under 50k. They're not expensive cars. They're very practical cars.

magpie makes gloves? huh
it has two reviews and one says it fell apart quickly. idk
I mean, they're thin. How long do you expect thin $20 gloves to last? Spend $10 and get yourself an entire box of nitrile gloves if it's that big of a deal.
true. I use nitriles sometimes but I think my box is a bit small for my hands so they rip quickly.
Pretty sure those are 40 round PMags. Looks like he has 2 clipped together in the rifle with the maglink thing.
I need THIN gloves for the range please. I want to load my 22 mags without getting my fingers dirty. Thanks!!
Nitrile dipped gloves. Cheap and effective. I usually use Maxiflex but there's a bunch of brands out there now that are essentially the same.

Uh... MOLLE and OCP chads, were we wrong all along?
I got a bayonet from OKC, whats the metal buckle on the end of the sheath for? Looks like it might clip to am alice belt? Theres also a horizontal strap and buckle just below it, whats that for?
Most of that is for Alice or belt tie-offs. Similar clips can be found on Ontario Mk3's and Kabars.
Makes sense, thanks bros
The metal buckle is for attaching it to a standard-issue pistol belt or to webbing. The horizontal strap is backwards in your photo. Unsnap it and wrap it the other way. It will go around the handle of the bayonet.
The buckle will go on pretty much any belt. The strap is for securing the knife in sheath.
what's a comfy chest rig that sits high on your chest?
I'm a manlet
All of them if you adjust the straps right.

it's called taking the plates out of your PC and now you have chest rig. Congrats

>Try on Salomon Quests at REI
>They clearly run large, even a half size down from my size it's a bit iffy
>Order the Forces version a half size down from my size
>They seem to fit differently than the normal Quests
>Length feels perfect, about a half-inch extra space at the front
>Except my pinky toe is cramped on the side
>Pinky toe kinda hurts after a few hours of wearing them around
>I'd also consider not buying overpriced meme boots like Salomon and Lowa
kek I was thinking of going for Lowa next if these don't end up working out
>Were the Quests from REI Salomon Quest 4s?
yeah
>mfw the whole rest of your explanation
Why can't things just be simple aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Were the Quests from REI Salomon Quest 4s? Note that I am not saying 4Ds, but 4s. (The difference is that 4D is merely a part of the boot name, the type of the chassis it uses, while 4 itself refers to the 4th gen)
Salomon Quest 4s have a completely different fit compared to Quest 1s, 2s, and 3s. Specifically, they're longer, like clown shoes (far oversized, as you said), but also narrower at the same time, compared to the old gen ones. While on the other hand, Salomon Quest Forces are based on Quest 2s, and thus share the basic design and fit with the older generation Quests.

wow that was hard
Is that Kentucky?
Thanks anon! Much, much more comfortable.
As in reinforcing the straps with cord?
Tethers. Tether your shit or the draw monster is going to eat all your stuff.
Lost pictures of my gear in PC move but I got a Unobtanium Gear placard for my MEPC. I hate the placard system.
They can lay flat when empty like pure elastic, but the tegris sheet makes indexing pretty much as easy as KYWI and MP2 insert pouches and placards.
what do anons recommend to spray onto gear so it won't glow under nvg
Just buy new gear, nothing else will really work
Krylon
looking for my first plate carrier
LBT 6094 slick or modular?
Cheap modular off Ebay
That's good to know, I was thinking it was like a haley rig with inserts, which even that is fine for me
