Only a handful were made by two retarded hillbillies out of shitty cast stainless steel, resulting in guns that don't work. Then when a guy who knew what he is doing stepped in to buy the rights and unfuck it one of the boomer hillbillies got greedy and demanded millions of dollars, then ratted everyone out to the ATF on a technicality, which resulted in the ATF swooping in, arresting both of the original retards, destroying all but one prototype and declaring any variation of the design a machine gun regardless of what is done to prevent it actually being one.

Except the retard in question didn't actually own any of the intellectual property. The inventor/designer already sold the rights. The retard that attempted to kludge some actual examples of the gun together and failed because he's a retarded boomer hillbilly wanted millions of dollars for his out of spec useless molds and tooling, which the guy attempting to salvage the project decided he didn't need because it was all trash anyway and he'd be better off starting over from scratch.

So while he went off to try and get a semi auto version in production for all of us to buy and enjoy, pissed off hillbilly boomer ran crying to the ATF and claimed that all AA-12 receivers are by default intended to be capable of fully automatic fire. This is a dubious statement, but moreover is self incriminating since he made those receivers and didn't even have an FFL so they promptly locked his dumb ass up and the original designer and then raided the FFL who bought and was working on the refined version. It's all tied up in court indefinitely now purely because retarded hillbilly boomer got pissed that he sucks dick and was going to get cut out of the deal.

I don't know what country bumpkin thinks turning himself and his neighbors/former business partner in to the ATF out of spite is a good thing. It's definitely not a smart move since he'll probably die in federal prison before his case is even heard, and he'll definitely not be getting any money out of this mess now. But hey the ATF is happy because they got one fish to catch them another one and we'll never have civilian legal AA-12s now.

          >It seems in the beginning of Boje and Jerry's relationship Boje asked if he
needed any special licensing to produce the shotguns. Boje was told by Jerry that none was
needed as he was working under his license. So for several years Boje manufactured AA-12 full auto machine guns in his shop without a license or an SOT.
I didn't realize it was this bad.

It was kinda retarded, but it would have been a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it sort of thing if Boje didn't get butthurt and incriminate himself just to try and burn everyone else.

          >pissed off hillbilly boomer ran crying to the ATF and claimed that all AA-12 receivers are by default intended to be capable of fully automatic fire
They were making semi-auto aa12 using leftover FA receivers that they had modified. Even if the guy didn't go to the ATF they were breaking the law (once a receiver is a machine gun it always is per the ATF). It's shitty that the guy got assmad and snitched but they were also being retarded by using those receivers.

yeah but i also think that guns should never be just "cool range toys" but instead have at the very least a niche in which they excel to justify their existence. a gun that doesn't have a practical purpose is a waste of material, money and space.

You could dispose of most people's hobbies if you use that reasoning. There's no reason to be a calligrapher in 2023 but people still do it.

I'm fascinated with this piece of shit. That one prop that got passed around hollywood films for a bit, where they stopped the movie for 5 minutes to have a character read from the marketing copy with the same talking points as the future weapons TV program. I had no idea they'd been periodically trying to hawk it ever since the 70s until recently

Nah he was buying hash of the darknet, which is ironic because the weed is legal now. His weapons dealer also got shot in the head for some shady reasons. He had access to some high tech cutting-edge shit just to make youtube vids with a fake Russian accent, shady stuff all around.

His business partner who more or less ran the entire operation and set up all the gun donations/rentals was arrested on arms trafficking and NFA violations. The ATF kept a close eye on FPS afterwards and caught him with some weed. They got him on a felony charge due to some weed+gun=no-no technicality, sentenced him to one year in prison, and now he can't own guns due to his felon status. I think he does a podcast now.

Also one of his producers was tortured and murdered before the arrest, and it's entirely possible it was a botched glowwie op to get dirt. They wanted him BAD.

he doesnt do gun videos anymore because he cant. like other anon said he got his funs taken away by an almost certainly set-up drug bust, made a plea deal (ATF was happy, they just wanted to force him to stop making guns look cool to the youth), served like 6 months in minimal security prison.
He got out and makes some pretty good videos still. his prison stories are hilarious. checkout "PKA clips"

      Yes.
Open bolt is okay in SMGs because the trigger only has to fight the relatively weak recoil spring (still worse than a hammer spring), and the bolt is light enough to hold steady when it slams forward.
If the AA12 has a bolt and spring like the USAS, then the open bolt trigger must be horrible. You can't carry enough drums to cook off a shotgun anyway, and leaving it cocked allows dirt in the chamber.

In contrast, the USAS is a standard AR trigger.
