Friend helping me to build 3d boogaloo. Should I be cautious?

I have a friend who keeps encouraging me to build an FGC-9. Says he has a 3d party credit card to buy the parts I need and AR-15 springs in case I don't want to buy anything from the Internet. I honestly feel like he's a glowie. Should I disassociate from this guy immediately?

      >Hello FBI, slow day at work today?

I'm not the FBI, I'm legit terrified because this guy seems very eager to help me build it. The last thing I want is for him to report me to authorities.
That being said, he does have two dozen different firearms around his house and he machined his own pistol, so maybe he is legit idk. He used to work as a police officer.

Is anything he's suggesting y'all do illegal? If so, he glows in the dark. If not, he may just be an autistic /k/ommando.

Well making these things are clearly illegal, but no he's not explicitly encouraging any violence with it. The guy has a ton of firearms and believes everyone should have a firearm. But his past career as a police officer spooks me out.

              Criminal Code:
              99. (1) Every person commits an offence who...manufactures...a firearm...knowing that the person is not authorized to do so under the Firearms Act or any other Act of Parliament or any regulations made under any Act of Parliament.

nvm, just saw that you're a leaf.
Yes, it does seem shady. I wouldn't ghost him, but I wouldn't build him a gun either.

Can I just tell him I'm no longer interested in firearms and seek out the parts myself? I think he may have incriminating information on me because he asked for the FGC-9 files (he didn't know how to get them) and I gave him a copy.

He has no photos or proof that I made anything though.

just repeat some fudd shit about not trusting your life to plastic or something. Although I don't know about Canadian speech laws, just possessing the files might get you in trouble. Maybe say your printer isn't big enough to make it or something? Then at least the info isn't "actionable".

Yeah I'm just going to say that I lost interest and that I'm focusing more on building plastic covers for my SBCs.

Is it illegal to have those files in Canuckistan?
                [...]
Genuinely freer than buying. The only way you can get a gun with a giggle switch that's post-86 is basically making it yourself with a SOT license (Or some weird shit where a dealer to police or military goes out of business, those are called post-dealer samples I think) You can't manufacture SBRs, SBSs, or Suppressors without paying the tax stamp, however, at least to my knowledge. State law varies on all of this, though.

                >Is it illegal to have those files in Canuckistan?

At the moment it is not illegal to have those files, but that could rapidly change within the next year. If that ever becomes the case I will lose the files. The intent to build one is where I could land in prison. So far I have no intent on making one.

You should specify you're a leaf moron. Otherwise, people assume you're American. Anyways, I would suggest saying he should build one for himself if he wants but you're not interested.

        >He used to work as a police officer.
        I wouldn't trust him, then.

Around 30 years ago, I had an FFL repeatedly try to talk me into various federal law violations. He ended up being outed as a police informant. Yet another reason I don't buy from gun stores any more.

    >FGC-9

Theres nothing illegal about building an FGC-9 as long as the barrel length doesnt qualify it as an SBR. To be extra safe you can print them with serial numbers in the frame and reciever. Unless your state has laws that suggest you cant do that.

Its the framework of law. Theres guys that call the ATF all day like "Im building a bunch of Molotov wienertails" The ATF interest is keeping that legal. As long as it falls in the legal framework theres not much they can do about it.

With that stated. If you are brady acted, have history of family abuse, felonies or are currently running an evangelical cult you should probably be watching your back.

I'm not in the States I'm in Canada. Technically the FGC-9 qualifies as a restricted firearm, which requires an RPAL (which I do have). But owning a non-registered firearm is illegal.

I have a completely clean record, this thing would incriminate me. Again, I'm not too worried as long as I keep a low profile. I'm just worried about accepting this guy's AR-15 springs, as the only way to get these I think is online which I want to avoid.

It's legal in most US states as long you (emphasis: you) are the one building it for your own personal use. If he is trying to "help" you build it, then it could conceivably be a trap.

      >Non-American here, to what extend could you make your own firearms?

The question is not to what extent, the question is how can you make your own firearms in secrecy, without purchasing any of the parts from the Internet.

I bought most of the materials and tools required through cash, wearing a facemask and glasses in hardware stores. But some specifics I don't believe are easy to get (springs with specific measurements for instance). Again I don't want any kind of financial proof that correlates to the building of a Minecraft bow with Power V enchantment.

avoid the dude but probably look into building one anyways at some point.
at a bare minimum start getting into hobbies that would use many of the same tools and materials just in case.
