Friction folder?

Hi anons
Got this pretty fancy slip joint for free as the backspring, which is integral to the handle, snapped.
I was wondering if any of you knew of a good PDF or video on how to construct folding knife handles//lock systems.
I think I will either make a simple barrel friction folder or an Opinel style lock on a barrel handle.
Would you have any ideas or advice to offer?
Also, could this be made into a small, light duty fixed blade? or is the tang far too small?
Thanks anons, I know its a bit basic but this is the nicest blade I've ever had and will be perfect for pigeons & squirrels - I want to do a good job.

done some research - I would have to add a long tang extending from the spine to connect with the stop if I made a traditional friction folder - so that's off the table I suppose

You could make a pretty cool opinel type knife with that blade, a piece of rod and a bit of copper pipe

that's the plan atm, the blades quite thick tho, so I'd need hard wood to not end up weakening the handle too much via the amount removed - thinking oak? There's always a few being trimmed round here

no idea mate, got it off a guy who said the backspring just snapped when he opened it one day - random chance or he's tellin porkies and was doing something daft like hammering it

Before you do anything to it, I'd contact lionsteel and try to get a replacement part.

do you think they'd do a whole handle for a second hand knife? I'll message them, but seems a bit optimistic

just checked, not under warranty, don't offer spares. Opinel type knife it is.
Anyone know if you can work copper cold, in case I have to bang some piping to get it to fit

What is a good first time butterfly knife trainer?

Just get an actual butterfly knife. Pain is a good teacher. The Kershaw Lucha is good. Just get the plain stainless one since apparently the coating on the colored handles chips off.

Copper work hardens, but you can just anneal it when it gets too bad.
