You will never be a real empire. You have no economy, no human rights, no technological prowess. You are a drunken, violent ape exhibit, twisted by 70 year old propaganda and baseless machismo into a crude mockery of a coherent political ideology. World leaders mock you. Your own citizens are disgusted and ashamed of you, and your “allies” laugh at your Neanderthal existence.

All civilized nations are utterly repulsed by you and the crumbling shithole you call an empire. Whenever Russia tries to move beyond the early 20th century, it’s servile, inbred potato-farming population inevitability manage to frick it up, and latch onto the most psychotic, obviously corrupt strongman they can find, like a battered housewife. The ex-Warsaw pact dumps the size of Rhode Island which do tolerate you will turn tail the second they realize the only benefits are a currency worth less than toilet paper, and a bunch of free Ladas with borscht heaters in place of cupholders.

You will never rule the world, let alone Europe. You wrench out a fake smile each morning and tell yourself it’s going to be хopoшo, but inside you feel the desperation creeping in like a weed, crushing you under the weight of a collapsing ruble and countless generations of cumulative fetal alcohol syndrome.

Eventually, it will become too much to bear - the Russian Federation will implode, your pathetic economy will buckle under sanctions, and one strongman will topple another. Your citizens will flee, heartbroken but relieved they no longer have to live in unbearable poverty and misery, even if that means catching the cum of Western tourists for a fiver. Every country you once clasped in your hairy, apish claws will be renamed, its peoples free. Historians will dismiss you as a bumbling, discount Hitler. And all that will remain of your legacy is a 6.6 million square mile patch of icy mud that is unmistakably poor.

This is your fate, this is what you chose. There is no turning back.

But that isn't a *spelling* error. "Its" vs. "it's" is an error in diction, like "they're" vs. "their" vs. "there".

        Anonymous

        >its peoples free.
Actually that's the appropriate and proper usage of "its."
"It's" is a the conjunction of the words "it" and and "is."
You would only use "it's" when you're saying something like
        >"it is cloudy."
You could conjoin the "it" and "is" together into "it's."
"Its" would be used precisely as Kermit-pasta-anon typed, as a possessive form of "it." It's kind of weird that it's one of the few (possibly only) time(s) a possessive in English *isn't* supposed to bear an apostrophe before the "s," but English is a weird language in its grammar.

Yeah, and the whole test of the vatnik "this was all a CIA conspiracy to install a puppet regime; the average Ukrainian views Russia positively" has been thoroughly disproved by subsequent parliamentary elections (and, lest we forget, the average Ukrainian's reaction during the invasion last year). The pricks who tell you this bullshit already have been claiming everything that happened in Latin America in the last 70 years was a CIA coup because some US ambassador said yes to a question made by some latin american general within hours of actually doing a coup that had its roots in domestic internal instability and crisis.

What's one more CIA coup bullshit narrative?

                Anonymous

That's basically the "proof" of several of the claims of US-backed military coups in Latin America during the Cold War, that 1 or 2 generals were in contact with the US ambassador directly before or during the coup, usually in communications about the safety of foreign citizens if the coup degenerated into a
violent conflict. That's basically the extent of the connections between the US state department and the figures involved with those coups in much of Cold War Latin America, the vatnik narrative of Maidan being a CIA coup is just a re-tread of these same bullshit narratives from the KGB/FSB.

There are about 4.6kk gun owners in Russia, mostly hunters
The gun laws were pretty OK, but last year they change it and now you can buy only double barrel shotgun for your first two years of gun owning, then you can buy semi-auto shotgun for 3 years and only after you are allowed to buy a rifle
Ofc there are many tests and medical surveys during the process of getting your gun license

I posted this elsewhere for those asking about the rationale:

      1. Even if this angers Russians, they already support the war to the extent it matters. Russia needs shells and tanks, neither are influence by more war support. The raids also undermine the Kremlin's narrative: "Why is Ukraine taking towns in Russia? Why can we not stop this".

      2. Russia has very little more it can do, short of nukes, to escalate. They have committed every war crime imaginable. They have pushed every resource to the front. They can mobilize more troops, but they will do that eventually anyway. Russia is likely just going to have to sit here and take this.

      3. Psychological pressure. Ukraine is almost certainly going to attack towards Melitopol. They can't hide it and it will be extremely difficult to get Russia to move troops away from where they want to attack. Disguising troop movements will only do so much. That is why this attack is clever, they're putting Russia into a strategic dilemma. 1. Defend the whole line from raids which will take huge numbers of troops and equipment 2. Allow "Free Russians" to take Russian territory (which helps them defend Ukraine from shelling) and massacre small groups of Russian soldiers. Neither option is good and both benefit Ukraine. The cost of such a defense is asymmetric, a small group of "Free Russian" soldiers can attack anywhere, which means you have to defend everywhere properly, which takes a lot of manpower. In Naval terms the concept is known as "Fleet in Being"

      4. This isn't the only place Ukraine is applying psychological pressure. They're doing it in Bakhmut too. Attacking the flanks and trying to encircle it. Given the costs Russia paid to take Bakhmut neither option Ukraine is presenting is good: 1. To defend the flanks they need more troops which can only come from areas Ukraine wants to attack. 2. Losing the city after such a long campaign would be a huge blow to public morale. Both benefit Ukraine

        >Russia has very little more it can do, short of nukes, to escalate.
Believe it or not, monke has to. He drew the line in the sand at "one step into Russian clay". If he doesn't, then it's proof the nuclear arsenal is no more than a bluff and he loses a shitload of face. If he does nuke belgorod, well we all know what happens from there.

              Anonymous

Putin blew up the distinction with the annexations. One of many inexplicably moronic moves he's made. To treat this incursion as a special emergency, when there's far larger fighting over far more significant pieces of land ongoing in "Russia" already, would be to admit that Russia doesn't actually consider the annexed territories as really Russia, exactly the point Ukraine is making with this raid.

                Anonymous

That's right. The fact that Putin hasn't tried despite the incursions onto "Russian" clay is the tacit admission that it isn't. Now that there ARE incursions onto Russian clay, he has to do it or the threat is exposed as nothing but hot air.

I Russia was going to use a nuclear weapon they would have done so already. They already know the likely outcomes:

          1. NATO involvement
          2. Decapitation strike
          3. Complete diplomatic isolation including China
          4. Possible counterstrikes

There is a ton of downside and very little upside since NATO can't allow themselves to be blackmailed with nuclear weapons or every country on earth will try it.

On the other hand, it's not exactly "blackmail with nuclear weapons" when you nuke yourself. Defensive use is exactly that. Use of the weapons on your own soil to halt an invading force.

            Anonymous

Putin also has to consider that China's response is unlikely to be limited to merely diplomatic isolation. China has been harping their status as the foremost NPT nuclear power for decades, and Xi has been quite clear that he sees China's place as not merely the biggest regional power in SEA but as a true global actor; a peer to the U.S.
If Russia goes nuclear, the loss of face to the CCP alone would make approval of Putin's actions a non-starter, and furthermore China can't back their play without losing international sympathies and scrapping decades of effort building soft power. So that's out.
China could choose to do nothing, but that's nearly as bad. It makes them look weak and ineffectual in the face of an actual nuclear action. And they've already been uncharacteristically blunt in signaling that they view any use of WMDs by any party as completely unacceptable, so Putin's aware that he won't just be getting some harsh language on a private phone call.
That leaves one option: China has to do SOMETHING significant to avoid being upstaged by the Global West. Whether they act unilaterally or "in a joint effort with NATO out of concerns for the stability of the region" becomes a moot point.

The ideal result would be triggering a spontaneous uprising now you have Putin showing to be unable to protect actually-recognised-as-Russian-by-everyone-Russian land from invasion, but that's unlikely. Seems to be to instill panic and cause a kneejerk deployment of troops away from the front and help open up a target for the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

I think its more insidious. Remember all those derailements lately in russia? I think the raid is made so russians put stuff in trains and send them to that direction, to known train track, and derail them, thus making the war even harder for the russians

"apparently" a russian rebel group operating from the RU/UA border began an operation into belgorod and are "actively hunkered down near a river engaged in a heavy firefight against russian forces"

only source of this information really are russian domestic sources and a few OSINT twitter profiles. Even though it's supposedly in belgorod there's no footage of any combat or distant gunfire that's come out of the region, only a few "photoshoots" that may or may not be old pictures unrelated to this particular event

in truth nothing about this is really confirmed, RU and UA have neither confirmed or denied anything, so you'll probably know for sure if this is real in a few days

Pro-Ukraine Russian rebel forces are taking control over the town Belgorod in Russia. After half a day of what appears to be minor combat, the govt are in the process of evacuating civilians and arming local officials. Neither seem to be particularly successful as yet. Locally stored nukes have supposedly been removed from the area. If my own country's state news channel hadn't been telling it, I would not have believed one word. The situation is ridiculous and will probably be worse by morning.

Belgorod the region has 300k population. The city is smaller. Think New York State and New York City. I think the attack is basically somewhere in the urban areas.

It would be fair to add that as yet the actual size of the rebel units is very hazy. Could be less than a company, ready to create havoc and slip out the moment anyone actually shoots at them. So far, resistance has been neglible. But the fact that the rebels are digging in indicates they are willing to risk a little action. More importantly, we know these pro-Ukraine Russian rebels number in the thousands, they have been trained and equipped by the Ukies, and so could easily get a lot of reinforcements within hours. Every hour they kick around there, the Russians lose more face. All indications are that they were not in the least prepared for this situation.

      >Russian ultra-nationalist rebels in the region of Belgorod have overrun border positions
      >They have run into next to no resistance
      >They are 4KM away from a nuclear stockpile
      >They are shooting down Russian national guard helicopters
      >Civilians are already fleeing
      It's happening.

Don't get me wrong this attack is cool and all, but if they are truly detached from any support and don't have any supplies from Ukraine, aren't they just going to get surrounded and destroyed?

Strictly speaking out of my ass, it could be the Ukes testing the waters. For now, their Russians are a deniable asset gone rogue, so if the West panics over muh nooks or something equally stupid, they can be hung out to dry with minimal consequences.

However, if the West instead rallies to the liberation of Russia, the Ukes can pour resources into it as the summer offensive we've been promised. Either way, it's a useful distraction, because Shoigu and company are certain to panic over this news.

Nah, i'm doubting that they will be there for long. It's most likely just a raid. Confuse, destroy, steal and go back before something bigger come for you.
