Red is insufficient protection, green is sufficient.
Left side is Vs a 700mm pen KE penetrator, right is Vs a 1200mm pen HEAT warhead.
The chart shows the percentage of turret protected (y axis) vs the RHA equivalent penetration of the anti-tank weapon (x axis)
>Qasntthe leopard supposed to be the lightly armored one of the 3?
Leopard I has good reason to fear even .50 cal, Leopard II has much better protection, and its variants have further improvements
only 876 made, and 2 operators (3 with Jordania second hand donation by UAE). Production line stoped decades ago.
France had 200 active leclerc, maintained by cannibalising the storage ones. Macron wants to push it to 220 (not gonna be easy).
On the upside, united arabs emirat seemed quite happy with their performances in Yemen, and even approched France to buy some more. But France refused, as it would have had to take them from their existing stockpile.
I don’t think Leclercs are a good fit for ukraine because of this (irregardless of the quality of this tank)
This.
Maintaining a large number of tanks has not been a priority for the French army for decades.
It is a sample army, a large selection of high quality stuff of which only a few are kept operational.
The Leclerc seems good enough (is it better or worse than XXX? don't know, don't care) but there is nowhere near enough to send to anyone.
In 1989, France had 1200+ operational AMX30.
In 2021, France had 222 operational Leclerc.
No need. There's no chance of a land invasion in a nuclear power. It's more important to invest in air power and naval power when the vast majority of your combat and training is about fighting insurgents in prior colonies.
It's why Britain had no actual plans to replace Ark Royal and the admiralty didn't want one, instead opting for smaller models ala Mistrals or Izumos, since they fulfilled the requirements better.
It's also why there's no rush for a new MBT but a push for more medium weight AFVs like Boxers or Jaguars since they serve modern deployment better.
They will never be allies. Anglos and Frogs are eternally locked in a struggle against each other, only occasionally pausing their fights to beat the shit out of someone else
I like how most morons here thinks it's somewhat comfy and easy to operate 4-5 new platforms, modern and sophisticated sistrmd too, while being at war.
No. Saw them getting cut up. The few that remains used for OPFOR duties are not combat capable.
And the 180 or so early series leclercs in storage have been used as a source of spare parts.
Nexter production line kaput
Frogs are homosexuals and russophiles.
what tank did your country send homosexual?
T-90, T-80U, T-72B3
it doesn't count if it's involuntary Ivan.
Where did France touched you?
>Why don’t they just lend them to Ukraine?
bad tank >>> no tank
im a total fricking moron - what am i looking at? armor thickness on the turret?

Did /k/ lie to me?
>Did /k/ lie to me?
Yes, but that chart it most likely wrong as well.
The chart is from Swedish tank trials

What does Ukraine got to do with it? These are England contingency reserve tanks.
I thought France and England are now allies.
Your allies are the ones you have to doubly watch out for.
They will never be allies. Anglos and Frogs are eternally locked in a struggle against each other, only occasionally pausing their fights to beat the shit out of someone else
Keep your friends close but your eternal political rivals closer so you can eventually gas them.
I like how most morons here thinks it's somewhat comfy and easy to operate 4-5 new platforms, modern and sophisticated sistrmd too, while being at war.
I don't think anybody except certain tourists believe that to be the case.
So 95% of current /k/ users?
Because frick Ukraine, that's why. Go donate yourself.
Why would them? Those tanks cost the french taxpayers millions.
Because 50% of our generals will pop a brain vessel if we do (which we should)
t. French
I don't think anyone expects France to hand over 100% of your tanks but maybe 14 like Anglos do would be possible
what about their old amx-30 do they still have some in reserve?
No. Saw them getting cut up. The few that remains used for OPFOR duties are not combat capable.

france is next in line after germany to swallow russian nards as soon as this war shows signs of pause
