Eh. If they really wanted to hep Ukraine they'd donate all models of the Ajax to the Russians.

The Warrior is unironically fine. It's fast, well protected, and while the RARDEN isn't really comparable to an autocannon it's got very strong AP performance for a 30mm.

Statistically they will, they are a fantastic vehicle for its intended role.

But this isn't happening, we don't have enough of the Warriors replacement to send them. Shame really.

They did perfectly fine against Saddam and his army was miles better than the Russians.

A Warrior in the Gulf took a hit from a 120mm HESH in a friendly fire incident and there were no crew deaths
I can't think of another IFV of that era that could take that hit without the entire crew being incinerated

Forgot to mention the incident where Beharry won the VC as well-he was able to reverse his Warrior out of an ambush having taken several volleys of RPGs, both frontally and to the side. While it did eventually conk out he was able to get the vehicle back to a safe location.
Again, I don't think a Bradley or Marder could have taken that level of punishment.

It's been a great IFV but i wouldn't be so quick to get rid of it, while Ajax has resumed testing (not a direct replacement i know), it still remains to be seen if it will be accepted with it's changes. If it doesn't then Warrior 2 may resume as it was 98% complete and would be in service faster than an off the shelf scratch build as i's a modernisation not a new hull.

Also, the UK still requires them for it's own tank/mechanized formations, can't rely on FV432 alone.

      >mfw we've been trying to replace FV432 and Warrior since the Gulf
      >mfw BAE have been producing a modern, easily upgradeable IFV since the 90s
      >mfw the MoD were too up their own arse to just buy the fricking thing and now we're stuck with an abomination that injures its own crew and 60s vintage tin cans
      >mfw I have no face

Army procurement since the cold war has been a total mess, a big chunk of that was due to the changed role for the war on terror. Many things got put on the back burner, so while projects started a long time ago, they weren't funded well enough to make progress, and because it was in military hands people would leave their roles or even the army in the timescales we're talking about.

Thankfully we're now taking a lot of decisions out of military and even government hands and putting civilians in charge, so far this has mostly happened with the RAF and RN and been a success. but the Army is due it's reckoning soon, the recent wave of leaks and briefings against the army is a good thing if you want serious change. Humiliate them and expose their incompetence, take away their decision making and budget powers and and them to civilians who are wholly responsible for the success and failure or projects. The army should be a user, not a customer.

I don't have faith in the ability for civilian authorities to Handel procurement any better, they still have an incentive to launder money and use programs as political pawns while having even less insight into what the military needs and why

You don't know what money laundering is.
