>If you have a jam, it's a pain in the ass to clear it.
While the forward ejection system and almost sealed system is cool making it very resistan against mud, dust and debris, but if you get, for example, a stuck case, opening up the toilet seat is not enough, you will have to field strip the rifle.
>You can only use metal magazines.
This is common knowledge. This is due to the ruber gasket seal on the magwell, only aluminum and steel mags will fit. PMAGS and the like won't unless you remove the gasket.
>Magazines won't drop free.
This is also due to the rubber gasket. But this is only an issue for sport shooters. I'm actually more concern that due to the gasket, there's a chance that the magazines won't seat properly, and that can cause failures to feed.
>Mushy, spongy trigger.
This is quite common in bullpups.
I think that the SCAR-L mogged it, because the marketing, the name (SCAR, so edgy) and that a lot of people didn't fall for the bullpup meme and still prefer a traditional layout for their rifles.
Same fate most bullpups have. They’re cool and exciting for being unique. Then the new factor wears off and, improvements or not, it’s still fundamentally just another 5.56 carbine/rifle. The fade to obscurity begins.
Forward ejection is still one of the cooler and more unique bull pup features I’ve seen though.
Also the splinter cell appeal will always be there, so there’s that.
I forgot that the SCAR program started developing not too long after the fs2000 did too. The whole FN-ecosphere kind of approach with the eglm started leaning more towards the SCAR since you had the 16 and 17.
That kind of killed the f2000 and turned into into a niche.
famas is being replaced solely due to political reasons (french govt gagging on angela's wiener back then) but it still performs well vs the hk416 (everyone hates it in the french army anyway)
hates the HK416
govt fricked up and bought the cheap ass version and everyone being used to the bullpup configuration, weight repartition and all makes the change to the hk not that great
we couldnt have kept the famas anyway cuz theres literally no production lines anymore even for spare parts

Was it an earlier version or was it missing something you desired? Burger here, genuinely interested in knowing more. I didn't expect the French to go with it in the first place.

aug got adopted by few irrelevant countries who never see combat, like ireland.
sa-80 was only ever adopted by british and they are already looking to get rid of it.
famas only adopted by frogs.
bullpups are only ever adopted by the countries that manufacture them and even then they are usually replaced pretty fast, the chinese are already replacing theirs.
every bullpup is doomed to commerical failure.
This. Bullpups are shit, and not used by any serious military. Coinsidentally, the reason people designed their rifles the usual way and not as bullpups is because the conventional design is better.
Bad timing. If it had come out 10 years later instead it would have had a vastly friendlier and more interested market, though it could have used more flexibility as well. But as far as the military market it's very hard to push any sort of replacement rifle, period, but more so with 5.56. Any change at all isn't going to be worth it vs the massive refinement and logistics current stuff has. New rifles only make sense with a caliber change, which makes the most sense with a doctrine change due to tech disruption, so maybe we'll see that with NGSW, though honestly I think even that is 5-10 years too early.
What would really drive it would be smartgun tech and serious AR, such that every infantry man is now a high level marksman able to do vital shots reliably at 600+yd. That really flips around a lot of existing logic, if ALL your infantry, even the FNGs 2 weeks out of basic, now can snipe enemies in the head at those kinds of ranges then current doctrine no longer makes sense in many respects. The heavy weapons are no longer is necessarily the ultimate center of a squad and instead are mostly about fortified positions or armor. Rather then lots and lots of ammo, a lesser number of much more powerful rounds will do more. That's what is going to obsolete 5.56 and in turn push new guns.
F2000 was (understandably but still) not really optimized and targeted for the modern civilian market either.
>Slovenia uses it as a service rifle, apparently. Because they're hip, I guess
FN Herstal is in Belgium right? Maybe they scored some good deal here. If you want a European made 5.56 service rifle not American, maybe not even any of the big EU powers (France/Germany), guess it's not a bad choice.
Essentially we got a good deal on it and at the time it was quite easy to procure. We have ordered 14k rifles I think but no idea how that will fair since FN stopped the production
Expensive johnny-come-lately that did little to distinguish itself in an increasingly crowded market.
The second coming of the FNC really, to FN's dismay. But they had more successful lines to focus on so w/e lol
Sacrificing your trigger, reload speeds, etc, to save 3 inches is a bad idea.
With folding stocks the 'exiting vehicles' meme no longer applies either.
If your army is regularly playing police clearing rooms with guns instead of explosives, give the pointman a 14 inch barrel.
>as gun judas points out
Literally who? Anyway, don't you have own opinion?
You can compensate for the muzzle rise, but you can't for the center of mass being too far forward. Bullpups are definitely easier to handle because of that.
I got it, you don't have any experience with bullpups. Americans have a variety of bullpup designs available for civvies compared to us Europeans, and you still have to refer to someone else about the ergos and the muzzle flip instead of playing with that and figuring things out by yourself. Pathetic.
Bullpup reloads are so much better than conventional reloads if you're starting from scratch. People just prefer conventional since they're used to it.
If you don't have a BFA on, a blank round is still blasting shards of hot brass out the front at speed sometimes. The BFA is to catch them before they injure or kill someone. It's one of the more common causes of firearm injury and death in competent armed forces, just behind people fricking up and not checking their magazine pouches for live round when leaving the range so they end up in allegedly-blank magazines.
A good example is the number of people killed in Hollywood gun accidents because someone loaded blanks for a scene - you can't have a BFA for the shot so you're supposed to use special pyro that makes fire but cannot project material. It's killed at least a dozen actors, Brandon Lee being the most well-known example.
I really don’t get this ”smartgun/smart bullets to make everyone a marksman” meme.
If you wanna put £300k of technology on a basic mook’s gun, why not just put it on wheels/a drone/a mortar-like platform instead? What’s the point of making your simple basic all-purpose weapon a complex delicate computer system? Why not just make it shoulder-mounted? And isn’t combined arms a thing?
Aliens vs Predator already has smartguns.
A huge gimbal-mounted thing with a motion-tracking camera. Yeah, can’t see any weaknesses there that a human opponent could exploit…
A rangefinder+optic+laser really isn't much of an ask on the basic rifle today. Beyond that I would agree with you. Man-portable precision guided missiles make more sense for extended ranges and armored targets.
>A rangefinder+optic+laser
Is that really what people mean when they say smartgun sniping? You just get a reading from the sensor that tells you where to adjust your aim?
I thought there would be some aspect of like mechanical automation of aiming or firing as well. After all marksmanship isn’t just about where you’re pointing before you press the trigger, but also your follow-through
Give it a bolt release and allow it take any AR mag and it could be one of the better assault rifles in the modern era, I'm convinced people who say shit like that it's "overengineered" are legitimately low IQ
because it's a boat not a plane
Underrated
Upvote.
upboated
It's belgian
It's curves are too feminine, shooters want a big phallus
>why didn't it take o-
it did.
What sort of optic is that? Looks damn familiar
It has a German post style 1.5x optic.
wow, what is 343 doing?
Huh?
The Halo assault rifle wasn't based on the F2000 as it was just a weird coincidence.
So FN started making them again to back up Ukraine Nazis? Interesting.
no they're just dumping unsold inventory.
Ah. For updoots and likes on twitter, I see.
Nope Belgian goverment dumped a lot of rifles in the early days of the invasion. We get gas from norway so we weren't wienercaged by russia.
>not recognizing early F2000 with built in optic
no surprise that vatBlack person tourists continue to out themselves as nogunz
bulky, ugly, trash sights
It's not only that.
>If you have a jam, it's a pain in the ass to clear it.

Until it inevitably jams because grime gets inside the shell tracks.
It's not a battle rifle, it's a great police/LE/CT rifle for doorkickers in Paris.
Who in Paris?
because it's a bullpup.
The Steyr AUG took off well.
After a few hiccups the SA80s took off too.
FAMAS.
etc.
Got any other response?
Two of those guns are being replaced, the FAMAS with a more standard layout rifle.
>Two of those guns are being replaced
Perhaps because they are over 30 years old.
Nice try at muddying the waters, I guess.
famas is being replaced solely due to political reasons (french govt gagging on angela's wiener back then) but it still performs well vs the hk416 (everyone hates it in the french army anyway)

damn they could have had the VHS too
vhs was out of option cuz when the govt called in for offers the croatian company didnt have the capacity to make enough rifles iirc
but yeah would have been a better option imo
TAVOR

the only succesful bullpup is tavor, prove me wrong
famas
succesful doesnt just mean it exports well you dipshit
p90, famas, type 95, barrett m95, to name a few
>prove me wrong
there is no successful bullpup
>bullpup
There's no such thing as a bullpup.
double dubs confirm, the bullpup was in our mind all along
your kids and your grandkids will all be bullpup and be happy. there is nothing you can do about it.
This. Bullpups are shit, and not used by any serious military. Coinsidentally, the reason people designed their rifles the usual way and not as bullpups is because the conventional design is better.

>smartgun tech
Why? Isn’t the purpose of an infantry squad to get behind cover, pin the enemy, and call for mortar/rockets?
I bought an FS2000 over a decade ago for about 900 bucks I even kept the box. I wonder how much I could get for it.
2500-3500 just to hazard a guess.
christ, ill never buy one goddammit reeeeeeee
Slovenia uses it as a service rifle, apparently. Because they're hip, I guess

no that guy is right, slovenia solely uses it for hipster cred. that what they're like as a nation.
Essentially we got a good deal on it and at the time it was quite easy to procure. We have ordered 14k rifles I think but no idea how that will fair since FN stopped the production
it looks goofy. The main criteria for adopting a military weapon is always if it looks cool.
The rubber gasket was a bad, bad idea
Expensive johnny-come-lately that did little to distinguish itself in an increasingly crowded market.
The second coming of the FNC really, to FN's dismay. But they had more successful lines to focus on so w/e lol
Yeah
How's the integrated scope on the FN2000?
Bad, take the cover off and put literally anything else on the picatinny.
Was it the worst gun in MW2?
Maybe. MP5k, striker shotgun, L86, and AUG H bar were all also terrible. Uzi too, but it had the dual wield gimmick
Yes anon I'm sure trained soldiers have such an issue with reloading..
Weight balance is a thing, you know
Yes, as gun judas points out, muzzle flip is worse with bullpups because there's too little weight out front.
>as gun judas points out
Literally who? Anyway, don't you have own opinion?
You can compensate for the muzzle rise, but you can't for the center of mass being too far forward. Bullpups are definitely easier to handle because of that.
I guess Gun Judas is Karl?
No, Ian. He came out as a cop-hater so we can't like him anymore
>hates cops
Doubtful but I don't care either way.
What did he say exactly?
Did that tard actually say something halfway interesting for once in his life?
>Anyway, don't you have own opinion?
ESL
So what?
go back
I'm already here.
Unfortunately, ESLtroons are everywhere.

This can be used to describe a lot of things tbqh
Didn't read.
When P90 and Aug have a child
god if only
the funny top feed system would have been so much better than the steel-mag only gasket
The Slovenian did adopt it as their standard Issue Rifle
Why are the barrel ends painted like toys
neverServed spotted
>never been a zogbot
yeah.
They're blank fire adapters.
So airsoft?
No, every country uses blank firing adaptors for certain training purposes.
If you don't have a BFA on, a blank round is still blasting shards of hot brass out the front at speed sometimes. The BFA is to catch them before they injure or kill someone. For all those optics, he's bad at getting headshots.

Trying too hard.
