First (and probably only) AR-15?

I've saved up 2K doll hairs to finally get a quality AR-15 of my own. If there was only one you could have for the rest of your life for $2K, what would it be?

I've really looked a lot at a DD4V7, but I feel a ADM UIC Mod1/2 could be good too although I haven't seen much about them. Reading all the "top ar-15" articles always mention DD, but are they really that good for the price and the current news?

DD or j.o.e carbine with accessories.

As much as I'd like to, I've never built one before and with my current job probably won't get to in quite some time. Appreciate the inputs though.
Ultimate goal is to have two conceal carry (one that's quality stock, one that's cheap for tinkering/upgrading), a well rounded AR-15, and a PCC last.

No. Just get the DD. There is a reason it is on all the lists you seem to be finding.

Can't offer you much advice beyond remembering to put a solid budget towards your additional parts - optics, sling, light/IR laser, suppressor if you're into that, etc. Don't be the clown who buys a DD and puts a Sightmark on it. Pic not related.

hey there's a genuine pri upper with douglas barrel for an spr on gunbroker for less than 1800. pair that with an old noveske gen 2 lower and a good after market trigger and you're looking real pretty.
    might go over budget.
    or just get an lmt.

2k isn't going to be enough to cover everything you'd really want.

    Pistol lower - $300
    Quality sbr upper - $800
    Red dot/holo - $500
    Sling - $50
    Wml - $100
    Suppressor - $650

These are minimum price ranges and it won't even cover everything you'll probably want, like a decent trigger.

Stupid. ARs are build a bears. Get a beater, use it, and replace everything that breaks with high quality parts. This is the correct way to do things.

His advice is actually sound. I bought a 16" DD only to realize how much I would prefer to have something closer to 11.5".

Everything breaks, even the good stuff. Second many people won't actually enjoy this hobby or maintain this discipline in the long run. Make intelligent life choices and lower your barrier to entry. Any monkey can upgrade an AR, so it's no problemo.

This also. You will only know what you actually like after you do it, so don't saddle yourself with 2k of sunk cost just yet.
