This. One AFU guy just did an interview explaining how they planned and executed an attack fast enough that Russian reserves couldn't move in and reinforce before the trench orcs were already dead and the Wagnerites fled. Armor is still important though and the improving weather conditions matter for attacks like that.

His actual answer surprised me, in that more people haven't made a fuss about it coming from him. I've seen it said here shitloads of times: "They think everyone is like them".

It seems like such a simple concept, but man, I have seen that shit frick the Russians up more ways than I can count in this conflict, and it's like they have a thirsty *NEEEEEEED* to keep looping back into thinking people who are not them, or like them, and who don't like them, are like them.

I'm a war nerd. If anyone follows my conversations or interests even for 30 seconds IRL it's a good fricking day. Other people are not like me, and the people neurologically like me are not like me, and most of them disgust me in their own special way, and it's a great thing. You wouldn't catch me dead presuming on the level that Russians do, and my life doesn't really depend on that. Theirs does.

What the Christ? Death drive doesn't make any sense at all until you see the behavior of Russians.

    Super Potato SPEAKS!

    https://www.economist.com/zaluzhny-transcript

    >The Russians have been garnering their resources for a long time. According to my calculations it must have been three and a half or four years that they built them up intensively: people, equipment, ammunition. I think they had three months’ worth of resources to achieve their goals. The fact that they have exhausted these resources and wasted their potential without achieving practically any result, shows that their position was chosen incorrectly. They now have to think again about how to get out of this situation.

    >They wanted to take Kyiv. Militarily this was the right decision—the easiest way to achieve their goal. I would have done the same. I know Gerasimov [the head of Russia’s armed forces] well (not personally, of course). There was no way out for him. He concentrated on Donbas to preserve whatever resources he had left. As of today, the situation in Donbas is not easy. But strategically it is a no-win situation for the Russian army.

    >So most likely they are looking for ways to stop [fighting] and get a pause by any means: shelling civilians, leaving our wives and children to freeze to death. They need it for one simple purpose: they need time to gather resources and create new potential so they can continue to fulfil their goals.

    >But they are working on another task in parallel, they are doing everything possible not to let us regroup and strike ourselves. This is why you are seeing battles along the 1,500km frontline. In some places more intense, in some places less intense, but they are constraining our troops in order not to allow us to regroup. The fact that they are fighting hard now is very bad, of course. But it is not a solution to the strategic problem. It simply wears down the armed forces of Ukraine.

The contrast between them really is fascinating.

Wagner's leader is a shrieking, vicious ex-convict who happily sends his expendables to fricking die.

Ukraine's military leader is an educated, personable man.

          Anonymous

Post-script: unsurprisingly, eventually the military genius outwitted the deranged former criminal.

The "smart" Wagner leader used up so many of his own men, he couldn't defend when the Ukrainians hit back with actual military PRECISION.

          Fricking amateur.

Correct. Against an actual military force of competent, determined people? He's been revealed to be a fricking joke. He throws tantrums like a little b***h, when exhausted troops FINALLY say, "Enough of this shit" and get out of a pointless battle.

The whip and the lash is no match for people and country when it comes to motivations. Ukrainian patriotism > Russian greed.

                Anonymous

Or put another way, to use an imperfect analogy, it's like "300".

Hordes of expendable troops motivated by the fear of summary execution are thrown in waves against a highly driven, patriotic force who love their country and people (and trying to stop their total annihilation).

Wagner was fricked the moment it tried this shit.

disarming the population is much harder than arming the population, if they go for the first step of arming the population, it will be only harder for them in the future, if they dont believe in an armed population.

I assume they are talking about mental health screening. I think he's right. I support mental health checks for firearm ownership. The last thing we need is Schizophrenics running around with AKs. If you hear voices telling you people are trying to kill you and eat your face, you shouldn't own a firearm. It is a public safety issue like people who are epileptic driving cars.

It gets murky when you get to things like depression and so forth, but I think there are at least a couple conditions where someone should have to surrender their guns.
