Finding a deer tick with his buried into me ruins my day instantly, it's so fucking disgusting, and then I have to worry about lyme disease for days after.
How do you guys prevent ticks and what do you do if you find one on you?

First I check the catalogue to see if there's already a tick thread up. Then I use spray.
I did control f and this is all that came up for "tick"
DEET up or if you would rather not Picaridin for skin and Permethrin for your clothing.
I fucking hate ticks, I avoid tall grass like the plague every summer and have ever since I was a kid. It's not even necessarily lyme disease that bothers me (though I do worry about it even if worrying about it is kind of silly), it's just the thought that these things are crawling all over my body and burying their faces into my skin. If I see one tick on myself, I spend the rest of the day paranoid that every minor itch or tickling feeling is another one crawling around, and I never feel 100% sure that I've gotten rid of all of them even if I strip naked and check my entire body.
>DEET
I can spray myself with half a can of Off Deep Woods and still have ticks, so I don't think DEET is very effective.
>Picaridin
I don't think I've tried this before, I'll look for some this summer.
>Permethrin
I don't want to kill my cats or my friends' cats, otherwise I'd just soak all my clothes in it.
Then stay inside with your cats because it's the most effective shit I've found. Literally changed my PrepHole life.
>Permethrin
All US military uniforms come impregnated with Permethrin. Wore fatigues out at field training at Camp Shelby for 2 weeks, tromping through high grass, woods, and other shit. Zero ticks, hell the permethrin was so good they didn't even tell us to check for ticks the whole time. And they had us do daily checks for covid and literally describe our latest bowel movement.
Of course we had bloused/tucked trousers the whole time cause the fuckin chair force so that probably helped too
Long story short: store your permethrin in a safe place and get a weatherproof tote to store your permethrin shit in. That shit is the motherfucking bomb
>even if worrying about it is kind of silly
Nah, Lyme disease fucking SUCKS. It's like months-long flu and if you didn't spot the little bastard that gave you it then it's up in the air if you even get the meds you need because the blood screening for it is not the most reliable.
Then again there's also the American ticks that give you veganism, and that's even scarier.
From what I've heard it's fine once it's dry. Just don't let your cat chew on the treated fabric.
i dont know if they make premetherin synthetically.
but iirc i think premetherin is in diasy plants
stop wearing shorts
Quit worrying about lyme disease. That tick needs to be buried in you for 36-48 hours before the lyme bacteria wakes from dormancy to spread to your body. If you aren't pants on head retarded you should be capable of checking your whole body for ticks after any day /out well before that 36 hour mark.
Strong deet bug spray more than just “bug off” , spray on your pant legs and around your neck since those are the two places they will climb on your body.
Lyme disease isn't real. It's a psychosomatic illness
Is your diabetic gangrene also a "psychosomatic illness"?
No that's real. Lyme disease is like autism and celiac disease. Idiots claim its real when its all in thier head.
Celiac and the gluten-free craze was a test run for covid, change my mind
I have a friend with celiac and if he eats gluten he'll rapidly lose weight and his hair starts falling out.
Is it all in his head?
>Is it all in his head?
well, maybe not his hair!
Now is a great time to prove it! Go document your journey!
I just always do a bug sweep every time I stop. Most likely you want to air out your feet anyways so I just undress and look for ticks. Almost never have ticks but I'm not taking chances with those fuckers. I usually just set them on fire and watch them explode.
>worry about lyme disease for days after
Is this really how easternfags feel? A bug bite ruins your day? Anon, it's not like you got bit by a black widow
Buno for important tick PSA
there are no ticks at the beach 😉
There are sandflies though, and those can be far worse in the immediate moment.
>buy two of these
>put them around your ankles, though avoid skin contact
>???
>profit
Don't think those work that way. They leach chemicals onto the dog's skin, then the tick bites and dies from said chemicals. It's just a topical applicator version of oral tick meds.
I argued with the vet a bit about it, because I wanted to know if I could literally do what you're suggesting. They just kept saying it's not approved for human use and wouldn't answer my question about what if any side effects the active ingredient would have on me. Like was there no testing on what happens if a baby put one in it's mouth? Shit has to have been tested for human contact, right?
Anyway, in my pursuit to combat ticks I discovered permethrin. Just hit your pants with that shit and ticks won't make it to your waist line.
You're a retard for trying to argue with vets about this. They can be held criminally liable for advice they give you on animal medicine being used for humans. Veterinarians are generally better at all medicine than a human general practitioner since they see such a wide variety of shit and can perform surgeries but they aren't going to risk their license because of you being a poorfag.
whatever janny deleted my post about a tick being embedded in my dad's scrotum, that wasn't trolling, it was a true story gay.
pics, prove it
I annihilated a skin tag on my taint because I thought it was a tick.
>tick check
>no ticks
>during the next 6 hours they just magically appear
Cheating bastards.
>teleports behind your ballsack
>"nothin personnel, kid"
Mosquitos don't bite me and ticks don't stick. My grandfather was the same, he'd walk into tick infested tall grass and come out with exactly 0 ticks. I wonder if we got thick hide genes or we just stink bad for them.
