FAB-250 glide bomb

The Russians are saying a Fab-250 glide bomb will have a range of 80km.

How does this stuff work out in the real world even for the JDAM it's not like there aren't headwinds and all sorts of other environmental factors effecting range.

Yes, it's possible if they release them from +10 km alt and 1000 km/h. Aka perfect targets for the S-300.

They probably exaggerate the range and precision, and it will be still affected by GPS/glonass jamming.
But since they're very hard to intercept, the answer to them it's to keep away the planes carrying them. Enter the ukrainian air force and the rumours about F-16s for them on top of their Mig-29s

You pick a set of conditions that you consider a suitable baseline and calculate/measure based on that. Whether that's an absolute bets case scenario for advertising purpose, a worst case scenario so you know what you can at depend on getting or somewhere in between to be the most representative overall varies. And publicly released figures may of course also be complete nonsense while the real range is classified.

Russia has a very long history of putting out bullshit numbers that are somewhere theoretically correct but are never really practical or achievable. Just look up official armor stats of russian tanks, they are almost all just the theoretical maximum the whole armor has, meanwhile western tanks usually have a range that includes at least some weak spots.

tl;dr: Russia lies about as much as it says something, always ask yourself with what they are lying, never if.

      Indeed

This just means Russia is running out of missiles if they have to resort to such ridiculous contraptions.

Glide bombs are a legit weapon and the US also produces them. Their quality is much better, of course.

People keep posting that but you need to remember the game is under ideal circumstances. Real life there have been multiple cases of tanks missing the composite parts of their armour so it's basically non-functional.

Whoa, that is nearly twice the range of the Su-34 glide bomb.

Who the hell paints a bomb to look like it's being choked out in its rack and not staring strait at its intended victims?

And no you know why their glide bombs failed to open and instead bombed Belgorod repeatedly.

Bomb flies as far as it flies, and Russians redefine kilometers so that the distance it flew is equal to 80 of them.

This is reasonable for a glide bomb. It's roughly equivalent to other tailkit glide-bombs like JDAM-ER, which is 72km. Significantly shorter than purpose-made glide bombs like JSOW. Overall, I think the rest of the people in this thread are kinda sperging out over a pretty reasonable claim.

If you yeet it off a MiG-31 going Mach 2 at 60.000 feet, maybe.
But somehow i doubt that DIY junk has the delayed wing deployment that would require.

The unitary warhead in your pic is indeed from a Kinzhal.
It looks similar because it's somewhat based in the same design.
