F16 impact on Ukrainian war

Anon you are now in charge of making good use of the new F16 deployed in Ukraine.

(Situation 1)

You received 20 F16 how do you best use them?

(Situation 2)

You received 100 F16 how do you best use them?

Most importantly would you use them as a way to suppress Russian aviation or for offensive use?

I use them to lob bombs and missiles from the maximum engagement envelope.

    War is boring. Deal.

Link up with NATO airborne radar and detection assets and get your targeting data from them, launching long range A2A from a safe distance inside the country.
After a week of eternal flight Russian aviation should start to stay back from the front again

      Da

the exact same way they were using their migs but with better armaments
2 flight, fast and low and then toss 2 bombs
also just launch storm shadow from as far away as possible
i doubt they use them much for launching HARM

Harmless F-16 according to this anon

Spend several years developing pilot skills and modernizing the airforce organisationally, so that they can actually use them in large scale operations.

What do you think they did for the last year? Also the war is now, not in 2030.

Why do I always see F-16's with Eldar symbols on them? What's up with that?

Replacements for attrition the Ukrainian Air Force has suffered over the last two+ years. The air force which destroyed in the first day of the war.

You don't think they should use them differently than their existing aircraft?

they don't have enough of them to really risk doing wild weasel missions and trying to seize air superiority, so the safest choice is to keep doing reliable damage with them, rather than gamble and lose them.

Remember, ukraine, militarily, is trying to run out the clock until the russians tap out more than win by knockout.

I know you're right, but I don't like it. I think they ought to focus on using them to draw Russian air and anti air assets into ambushes and within range of ground based fire, but that's risky and will inevitably result in the losses of precious pilots and airframes. The Russians will probably also see through it, despite how aggressively they've been fighting

they got old-ish F16, not F35. it's not some wunderwaffe and they don't have a yuge stockpile of them
the advantage is not needing to Black person-rig stuff to NAFO sensors, missiles and so on, but it's not a game changer

Also on another note, have we any OSINT around regarding the F-16's? Where have they been training etc.?

Have them using harms to destroy russian AA.
Once this is done, use them to bomb russian artillery into oblivion.

Same as Russia is doing. Launch munitions at maximum possible range.
With NATO intel, it'll be 10x as effective as Russia.
Otherwise what the frick else? Both sides have enough air defence to make any non-stealth fighter dead as soon as it gets close, as seen every couple of weeks, so better to just use them as more missile trucks.

Use them to drop glide bombs from maximum distance on Russian lines. If this tempts Russian aircraft closer to the front use Patriot ambushes to shoot some down to beat them back. Keep begging for Gripen or Eurofighter a to actually take the fight to the Russian Airforce directly.

Start harassing naval assets in the Crimea and blow up the Kerch Bridge. Again. Crimea is pretty isolated so it'll be easiest to cut from the supply lines.

So... is this going to change things and how? How many F16 Ukraine has now and how many they will potentially have in the future?

      Anonymous

It's going to give them capabilities that they didnt have and more of it which their old planes couldnt provide or which had to be jerryrigged to fit NATO equipment. It won't be a "game changer" like what the vatnigs ironically claim or unironically for the "NAFOs", but it will be able to exploit a weakness Russia has and which will force them to change tactics (which is what HIMARS did) which will reduce their capabilities in the end.

You will probably only see around 12 or so in the beginning stages as Ukraine learns how to adapt them to their battlefield conditions.

It could be a game changer if they're piloted by whites on missions directed by whites with full white logistic support and maintenance, but if we're just giving them to slavs then half will be sold for spare parts and the other half will crash during takeoff.

      >going to change things and how?
It will allow them to perform CAP by having an aricraft with BVR(+100km) capability their migs lacked, disrupting the ability of BBC to throw bombs at the front. Later on with enough planes, it would offer them the potential to gain local Air superiority over a section of the front and privide cover/support for ground forces during operations. It will grant them access to US JDAM stockpile and if Joe doesn't cuck, some JASSMs.

depends on how many munitions they received, and of what type
russia keeps bombing civilian residential areas and power grid nodes, so in their mind that is important to break the morale of the ukrainian population.
if ukraine could shoot down those expensive and irreplaceable long range bombers it would be great.
using them to bomb military targets near the frontline is probably something the artillery can do at a fraction of the cost and efficiency, on top of being risky.
if they could perform an aerial campaign to destroy the kerch bridge that would justify the risk, that's about the only situation i'd consider using the planes more offensively.
