Yea I have a throwaway I keep in the car and in the last decade i've never had to use it, shit I haven't even check the ammo since half a decade ago.
Shit i'm old.
This. The idea of a "sedan gun" doesn't even make sense.
To me, a truck gun refers to the fact that many farmers and ranchers have an old work truck on their property, and that usually has a gun in it. It's typically an old beater that's not maintained or registered for use on the street, it's just used on the farm for doing general chores like hauling around hay, working on the farm machinery, fixing fences and irrigation, getting the tractor un-stuck, etc. There's usually a pile of tools and crap like fenceposts, barbed wire, irrigation fittings, gas cans, etc, left in the bed. And there's usually a gun in the cab. This is used for putting down sick or injured livestock or if you happen to see a coyote or hog while out doing farm chores. That's a truck gun. What purpose does a "sedan gun" serve which a normal CCW would not handle?
>the same purpose a nightstand pcc serves in place of a handgun.
That doesn't make sense. A nightstand PCC makes sense because when you're at home there's no reason to cuck your firepower because of the need to conceal or carry it. You can easily use a long gun and get the advantage of 3 points of contact. But that doesn't really apply to a vehicle. Like the other anon explained either you're not near your vehicle in which case the "vehicle gun" is irrelevant, or if you're in your vehicle when trouble happens you likely won't have the time or the physical space to get a larger weapon into action. And at the kind of super short distances normally involved in carjackings your CCW might be the better weapon anyway.
Good point, a truck gun as in a ranch rifle makes sense.
>What purpose does a "sedan gun" serve which a normal CCW would not handle?
the same purpose a nightstand pcc serves in place of a handgun.
The difference is that the bedside gun is much more accessible. In a car you're either not going to be close to your car and if you're getting car jacked (either while in it or loading something or whatever) it's not going to do you much good and you'll just use your CC anyways.
This is a good point. I feel like the original intention behind a "truck gun" has been lost over the years and now it's Sheepdawgs trying to figure out what guns they need to put in the center console of their F150 when they go to Target.

Nail on the head. Your "sedan gun" is just your CCW on an accessible holster if anything.
What’s the advantage of always keeping a gun in your vehicle? If I’m carrying, I’m carrying so I probably wouldn’t need an extra car gun, and if I’m not close to my car it doesn’t do me any good and will probably just get stolen.
Truck/vehicle guns are going to be a meme for 99.9% of people.
also, backpack guns>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
