is it unethical to homestead deep inside of a nature reserve? theres a place far from society (~40km) that i want to move into with nothing but what i can carry on my body. is it “bad” or “rude” to do so?
what i find funny is that a place (the commons) is off limits until gold or oil is found there and it suddenly becomes free reign for corporations to clear cut and destroy everything. so why is it “bad”/ “illegal” for me to put a lil cabin at the foot of a mountain? also academic types hold great disdain for homesteaders because it damages their “research” but they also do nothing to prevent deforestation in these areas. also academics (leftists) love the homeless and are diehard martyrs for homeless camps set up in woods near schools and residential areas.
>ethics
Kys zoomer
Yeah
There are probably a lot of ethical things that someone can think about when homesteading but most of them apply at least somewhat to large agribusiness too. (e.g. lack of genetic diversity/monoculture problems, pesticides/herbicides, ethical animal treatment). But it has it's own unique ethical questions too, some of which you've mentioned e.g. trespass if you don't own the land. I'd also probably mention environmental impact and scalability. You're likely not as efficient with your resources as a large agribusiness and so anything you grow will be "wasteful" in some sense. Also, scalability is a question - it wouldn't be a feasible solution for everyone that's capable to do it, so why is it ok for fewer people to do it? (I guess that does with the efficiency argument) Finally, longer distances mean more fuel burned just getting the essentials, is THAT extra fuel worth it to live like that?
Just some things that came to my mind.
I'd say "ethically" it's better to live simply off the land than it is to live a modern existence. Legally, well who cares
This ought to be the stupidest thread of the month.
why? at the end of the day, i dont care. i’m packing my shit and living there. WTF they gonna do send a helicopter to arrest me?
>WTF they gonna do send a helicopter to arrest me?
Yes
they have helicopters specifically for this reason.
picrel is some people getting fined for camping 100 miles from anywhere during covid lockdowns.
when i was backpacking around Canada I heard all sorts of stories about park rangers choppering in on people in ass-fuck nowhere to check fishing licenses and the like.
you're trying to pull off criminal activity in a national park.
""homesteading"" means buying land, not larping as a stealth camper in the woods and playing Stardew Valley
also your post reeks of internet forum tough guy who doesnt actually know shit about gardening, fishing and hunting. you'll be dead in a week.
you sound like you have a cock in your ass lololol
Excellent contribution to the thread.
i never said i was going to do this in your fuck ass ~~*western*~~ society. Also I’m a horticulturalist/ field botanist so i know more about gardening and foraging than you could ever even think you know about anything PrepHole related. your child level tantrum is actually laughable
>OP gets legitimate concerns from Anons
>HURR DURR YOU DONT EVEN KNOW MY CREDENTIALS HURR DURR
Shit, alright then.
being told i’m retarded is not a legitimate concern. jfc when did this board get populated by redditors?
> I’m a horticulturalist/ field botanist so i know more about gardening and foraging than you could ever even think you know about anything PrepHole related
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
>retard has a retarded idea on the internet
>anons call him out for being a retard
>retard refuses to take advice and chimps out
every time
>burning $5,000 worth of taxpayer gasoline to check if you have a $5 gubmint license to pull a fucking wild fish out of a stream, or that you aren’t camping during lOcKdOwN
This type of shit is why people become libertarians
>its only about the loicense
It's a long-term strategy. Prevention, practice and reputation.
The idea isn't to blow 5 grand on enforcement of every minor infraction for its own sake. First is to enforce conHispanicuously and dramatically (preferably on some fresh meat newfag/tourist, not a well-known local) so that (a) word spreads and prevents law breaking in the first place and (b) makes an impression on you in particular so that if you want to keep coming to fish the area you don't fuck around. Second is to ensure the gear and vehicles required to do wilderness enforcement of more serious rescues, crimes and violations remain in good working condition, and the professionals required to run the operations remain in shape and in practice. On the balance sheet, enforcing fishing licensees may simply replace what would have been a routine exercise and maintenance.
Basically, if everyone accepted the premise that the government had no way to enforce fishing licenses, no one would ever pay for licenses. Taxpayers are still footing the bill for criminal enforcement and search&rescue, except now they have $0 revenue from the licenses. (Plus licensing requirements offers opportunities to educate).
Lolbertardians are usually just lazy potheads.
I was going to post basically this but them I remembered that wordswordswords gets you made fun of around here
ive been permit checked in onp by rangers hiking solo 30 miles deep. they dont mess around
which is good, bc the national forest that surrounds the park is polluted anarchist dumping ground
It will get one upped. The quality on this board is almost non-existent.
lol
Yes human existence is unethical
You naggers are all homosexuals
>the commons is off limits until gold or oil is found there and it suddenly becomes free reign for corporations to clear cut and destroy everything
it doesnt have much economic value as is, but if there is geological surveys reveal untapped natural resources then your Govt will want to exploit it, allowing BP or something to start drilling
>is it “bad” or “rude” to do so?
Yes. It's a nature reserve for a reason. Also, you will fail.
