He watched like 2 Ukraine videos of Russian tanks getting blipped and determined on his own that tanks are useless while having 0 military training in regards to ANYTHING, let alone specialisation in armoured warfare. He's a homosexual.
He is def a gay. I can't believe it's worth it to spend a minute of my morning shit typing out a homosexual PrepHole capcha just to call musk a fruitloop dipshit
lol, he literally can have any girl he wants, at any time. And he often avails himself of that opportunity. He also has ten children. Say what you will about him, he's like the opposite of a gay.
>He may be a genius about rockets
no he's not. everything he did "first" was already done decades ago by NASA and deemed too expensive. and they were right - SpaceX would be a financial disaster if not for huge loans and gibs by the goverment. basically SpaceX is a way for the US government to bankrupt the Russian, Chinese and possibly European space industry by price dumping. the US really doesn't like anyone else having advanced space-flight capability.
Yet another are tanks obsolete thread, but what's that? Someone expressed his opinion on Twatter? And he happens to be a celeb for reasons unrelated to what he's expressing his opinion on? Holy fricking shit! Take a screenshot and open a thread on PrepHole immediately!
DC-X did that 20 years earlier. Hell, even John Carmacks company did it before Musk. Nobody ever said "self landing rockets are imposible" the thinking was merely "self landing rockets are not economically viable since overheads and refurbishments are still a significant cost and there is also the decreased payload and increased manufacturing costs" - SpaceX gets around that by having NASA foot the overhead bills.
>self landing rockets are not economically viable >SpaceX gets around that by having NASA foot the overhead bills.
Wrong. It has nothing to do with the well deserved gibs for their performance. NASA space program went to shit in the late 70s, with the Space Shuttle dead end, and needing parts from all over the US to keep Congress and companies like Boeing happy, but making everything orders of magnitude more expensive than it was necessary. The ESA has similiar problems with the Arianne series.
SpaceX got around this problem by being a private company, which enabled having a tight and way cheaper manufacturing, with rapid development and being profitable even before their first sucessful landings.
Had NASA been given free reign instead of being crippled by Congress and lack of funds, they could have done the same, but the US economics and politics made that impossible until an outsider like SpaceX was able to do it.
Space-X for around it by owning their whole manufacturing chain and by not being a government agency force to play political games with Congress.
There are plenty of reasons to dislike Musk himself but Space-X really is something else
[...] >reusable rockets are more expensive than expendable ones, the US government just uses dark money to make it look like they aren't
This is actually absolutely schizophrenic holy shit
Okay let's use an example: >the Falcon Heavy can launch 26.7t to GTO in expendable mode and 8t in reusable mode - 3.33 times less. >an expendable launch is 150m$, an reusable launch costs 97m$ - expendable is 1.54 times more expensive. >a reusable launch 2.15 times more expensive per ton.
And that's unfair to expendable launch because you're using a rocket optimized for reusable launches.
The simple fact is that every gram counts in spaceflight - the return fuel, the extra heat-shielding, the more complex engines and pumps, landing legs, etc. all add tons and tons to the vehicle. And even then you still need to refurbish the damn thing once it lands - which is about 20% of the cost of the vehicle by SpaceX's admission. Then you still gotta invest in staff, permits, infrastructure amortization, development and resarch costs, etc. - which is about 30-40% of launch costs. The only way reusable launches would make sense if you reused every rocket over 100 times - but - no rocket with over 100 launches has an over 98% reliability rate. Also there is the fact that you're actively working against economies of scale by definition. So yeah, call me a moron all you want but reusable rockets are neither the huge innovation and engineering achievements (as I said, others did it decades earlier) nor is the game changer in terms of launch costs. The only reason SpaceX offers the cheapest launches is because the government is stuffing their buttholes with handouts: grants, cheap loans, free infrastructure, technology sharing, technical assistance.
Space-X for around it by owning their whole manufacturing chain and by not being a government agency force to play political games with Congress.
There are plenty of reasons to dislike Musk himself but Space-X really is something else

Tanks have always been death traps. Just because they have armour, people assume that means they have to be invincible. Even in WW2, shitloads of tanks were knocked out, but no one would deny they are useful. If we're useless, then Ukrainian soldiers wouldn't keep saying how dangerous/helpful they are and would keep asking for more of them.

No, because having mechanized support will be a force multiplier. Any armor vehicle can act as a support for infantries assaulting or defending an area. Artilleries are useful depending on their precision and accuracy. Having an artillery that does not have both of those is worthless and will get mogged by precise artillery and them targeting logistical hubs
Elon makes a lot of midwit posts.
Tanks have always been deathtraps that are significantly safer than being infantry, artillery and every other combat arms.

Manpads are frankly irrelevant if you can suppress and/or destroy the medium and long range SAM systems like Buk and S-300. If those are gone, MANPADS are useless when airpower is slinging JDAMs and other guided munitions out of their effective range
I ahggre. Tanks will not be obsolete but WW3 will probably be an outresource and outmaneuver meta. Perhaps we will see the return of blitzkrieg strat for full push against trenches.
Since trenches tend to be a standstill there will be a greater focus on infiltrating agents to disrupt the supply lines(Rogue militias and terrorism). If you think about it is really easy to destroy factories and essential bridges as a small coordinated group of 5 people.
Surveillance will rise as a countermeasure but also will counter-surveillance. This favors terrorists since its way easier to defend privacy than to penetrate.
My guess is that infrastructure will be constantly attacked and therefore there will be a need of resilient buildings (i.e. bunkers & forts), pherhaps even private security contractors.
There is also the slim possibility of bioweapons and ghostguns heavily skewing in favor of penetrators. Meaning that the average unprepared civilian will be the most vulnerable. Civil unrest.
No but I still wouldn't want to be a tanker.
yea who would want a drastically improved chance of survival
Is it though?
As long as it’s not a R*ssian tank yes, objectively.

The density is far reduced. Artillery is now accurate enough to hit the inside of a trench, and of course there's drones and other shit.
Why do morons believe air superiority even exist
Do they think it's even possible to elimate concealed manpads and SAMs before they are fired
>Why do morons believe air superiority even exist
Because Iraq sort of forgot to shoot down the entire US air force
Theoretically a peer adversary could easily deny air superiority to the US but in reality there are no peer adversaries
Manpads are frankly irrelevant if you can suppress and/or destroy the medium and long range SAM systems like Buk and S-300. If those are gone, MANPADS are useless when airpower is slinging JDAMs and other guided munitions out of their effective range
if it actually were WWI tanks would be more useful than they are in Ukraine
I know Elon bought Twitter but that doesn't mean he's gotta be expressing his dumb opinions on everything like your typical twitter user.
