What about making an APC stealthy with a very quiet propulsion and all rubber tracks. It could give an edge during night time assaults.

ask Elon he could do it
Xiaomi would do it cheaper.
Ill never call it X so wtf is Twittteriaomi
Currently too busy blaming his problems on other people and shilling for russia on nu twitter
>Get penetrated by single bullet
>Bullet hits batteries
>Batteries violently explode which sets off the ammo and vaporizes the tank
>explode while charging
Use lead acid batteries, zoomie. This isn't your hoverboard.
Congrats, now you have to replace the entire battery pack every few months if you're on frontline ops because of how shitty their lifespan is. You also will likely have issues with how long they take to charge. Even if you ignore all of that, if you charge lead acid batteries over about 80% then you will have hydrogen gas venting out of the batteries, and so you know have an APC with flammable gas swirling inside if you want to charge them to enough capacity to have some range. You then will need to set up a venting system for the batteries to not have them create explosive gas. All that to run quietly? Is that worth it?
You've never seen an electric golf cart or electric forklift.
Muh hydrogen ACK!
Lol sure, a machine with 5 hours of run time that has 100lbs of batteries that don't need to survive a combat environment is the same thing as a 30 ton APC
A battery powered BMP is not trying to be all things to all people. iI's not a Bradley.
That has little to do with the issues of a battery powered APC, you still run into the problem of having enough ruggedized batteries that logistically make sense in the context of battlefield conditions.
You would have pooh-poohed the idea of Mulberry harbours at Normandy.
>I dunno it's not mil-spec
>It's not proven, I wouldn't put my name on it
>Hurr durr can you point to a historical instance?
The difference is that those harbors were relatively easy to make and able to be easily built to support a very large amount of troops movements. Electric BMPs are more dangerous, logistically will have shit range and need a lot of charging, which requires extensive charging infrastructure. You will also need infrastructure to transport thousands of pounds of batteries per vehicle and the ability to easily replace them in the field. Oh yeah you will also need to train crews to use these BMPs that also will be worse than standard BMP in every way during daytime ops. Combine this with the fact that at night the hypothetical BMP will only be better than a standard one until you fire your first rounds from the 30mm on top. At that point you're now obvious because nobody listens for engine sounds to find enemy armor once gunfire starts because you wouldn't be able to hear it anyway over your eardrums getting fucked by explosions everywhere.
batteries are just dogshit for armored vehicles
heavy as shit
even more flammable shit in your death box
limited range
needs dedicated charging stations near the front that will probably just be missile spammed
mobile charging stations?
your still a sitting duck for multiple mins near the front while charging
Enemy is attacking while your charging?
well too bad I hope your battery is full enough to last combat
Battery ran out during combat?
well too bad now go and wait for the dedicated mobile charging station to arrive (if its even safe enough to be deployed in the first place)
Put charging stations too far away from the front and armored vehicles can no longer fully participate in operations and have shit response time
>but how is an electric BMP supposed to chase Romel across North Africa?
You're thinking in terms of a fleet for your forever wars not a vehicle improved for a specific mission.
in what forever war was armor even used often?
Make it hybrid.
>completely submersible tank
>10km of range below water
Anon, the last thing I would want in a vehicle that is getting shot at is a 2 ton lithium battery
>electric armored vehicle
>Prone to explode due to batteries
>shit range
>will probably be multiple tons heavier
yeah no
>shit range
Have you seen the lines?
do you think armored vehicles just spawn in 10km away from their objective?
Ziggers dying in lithium fire deaths. Sounds awful.
I think I would try converting the MTLB because more hitpoints.
Fuck off already fartbag. like, you wanna talk about guns, tanks, jets, ships, be my guest. just BE FAIR. cuz if you're not fair, you can throw the whole fucking board out the window. it's just fucking /misc/ or /int/ at that point.
Flooding. go check the archives for OP posts with the phrase "warrior ifv". there's like at least fifty fucking threads in the last fucking year alone. that's not counting all the other false flag shit where he posts about something else then about seven posts down pulls a bait-and-switch. that's not counting all the other posts about missiles and so on. or the US Marines, which is his latest bugaboo. not that he's that big a fan, he just wants to shit about the Royal Marines. he fucking has no life and posts like five threads a day actively shilling his retarded takes.
that sort of horseshit totally kills the board. you're goddamn right we care.
p.s.
while you're in the archives also look up panzerfeist1 and Burp00589615
Are you brain damaged? What does this thread have to do with the warrior
>playing pretend
I already lined it out in
So that no one could be confused.
>that's not counting all the other false flag shit where he posts about something else then about seven posts down pulls a bait-and-switch
If you don’t think this entire thread is a set up to shit on the warrior then you are fucking retarded
have a nice day bong
Mental illness
Already being done. Not entirely electric but hybrid with a smaller constant RPM generator engine feeding batteries which feed electric motors. Supposed to be quiet and fuel efficient.

As for pure electric:
>it will likely be far into the future when the Army considers fully electric options for combat vehicles or tanks.
>It’s about size and weight
>If you took the amount of batteries with current technology that you would need to move an Abrams tank purely electrically, it’s bigger than the tank, so we have a packaging and storage problem when it comes to pure electric.
So:
>batteries are low energy density shit
>liquid fuel much energy density good
>electric motors much torque small package good
>big combustion engines fuel guzzling and noisy just for rare on demand peak power bad
= Hybrid.
Also lol at retard boomers immediately coming up with shitty excuses out of their ass on how it's totally not possible. Never change. Pro tip: The limitation is not about batteries catching fire. That can be isolated. Not a deal breaker. Especially for hybrid.
You can have better density with fusion.
Yeah let me grab one from the back real quick.
>Army says battery only won't work for a long time
>Fucking retard boomers think battery only won't work for a long time!!!
>That can be isolated
just like the ammo and the fuel tank and the hydraulics
but that hasnt stopped any armored vehicle from burning down
They said they wanted an electric BMP not an unburnable BMP.
